[ It's a little too late to adhere to that whole non-interference clause of the Prime Directive, being the subject of an alien-napping and all, so here is Spock in all his pointy-eared glory. Looking as straight-faced as possible. Unlike Kirk, he didn't part from their meeting and then drink himself under a table, he stayed up all night watching network conversations and Sciencing. It would be illogical to... wallow, and he refuses to acknowledge that he even has the urge. ] ... Fascinating.

[ For such ancient technology, this thing appears remarkably serviceable. ] Greetings. I am Commander Spock, of the United Federation of Planets. If I understand correctly, then you are my fellow... detainees. [ There, that's politic enough. ] I would like to request information on what is being done with the crashed satellite debris. In return, I may be of some assistance in constructing something useful from it, as I am familiar with this level of technology.

In addition, any information on the turtle itself would be appreciated; the scans I have taken of the creature only tell me so much, and the indigenous people seem... disinclined to reply to my queries.

[ Aaaand he'll just give a sharp nod and the Vulcan Salute on his way out. ]

[Setting himself to the task of keeping up with the pace Spock set, Charles was inwardly thrilled to discover it manageable with the aid of the cane. Probably best that he remain ignorant of the fact that Spock was deliberately setting an easier pace than usual!

Head tilting towards the Vulcan a serious expression pinched the telepath's brows together as they pediconferenced along.]

2063? I come from nineteen sixty-two and President Kennedy has just recently announced the intention of getting to the moon. By the standards of evolution that is an incredibly accelerated series of developments, less than a hundred years.

[Physics was an area he was not as well versed in as bio mechanics, though he certainly read many of the papers.]

I wonder if the rapid developments of human mutation plays a role.

[He's forgetting the idea of different dimensions and timelines, getting caught up in the idea of mutations that would allow his species to show the human race how they could all coexist together peacefully. It was an exciting thought, if only as a pipe dream.]

[Spock.

For the record, it's nice to at least buy a fellow a drink before you snoop in his DNA. Of course this coming from a man who snoops in the minds of others to pick up drink preferences maaaayyy be a bit hypocritical.

Charles does pause, left eyebrow arching in an imperious manner as the tricorder scans his way and Spock asks his question!]

Abnormality may be a bit of a harsh term. Rather prefer the idea of simply moving on to the next stage of human evolution.

[Granted, accelerated by the nuclear arms race but that might be getting nitpicky.]

However, since you ask, the mutations appear to have varying degrees of effect, as individual to each and every one of us as any other sequence of our unique DNA.
