[The feed clicks on to reveal a red-headed teen with yellow eyes, who's currently peering at the device like it's going to explode.]
Okay, power button. Check. I thought this could be like that episode of The Twilight Zone where they execute people by blowing up in their rooms and that maybe someone was clever for a change and made the self-destruct button look like the on/off. But! Obviously not, because I'm still here.
I think I'm getting paranoid. It's like there's this voice in my head going -
[Bart holds two fingers up to either side of his head, so they stick up through his hair like ears.]
"Trust nothing."
[He puts his arms down, and he really drops them. They're just suddenly gone, and the camera picks up maybe two frames of the action, but even that's a little lost in a yellow flash. Bart only laughs with relief.]
Hey! Look at that, they weren't lying about that either. Now, if it would just hurry up and work all the time.
So, uh. Hi. Bart Allen. Anyone know where to find the games on this thing? I gotta pass the time until the rest of you slow down.

[Action]
Oh, come on, man. The money goes to a good cause. They're from the Flash museum. What was I supposed to get? A t-shirt? Way more obvious.
[Someday, that future dig will catch up to him. But not today.]
Besides, they're cool.
[ANYWAY. If you're done amusing yourself.]
Since when do barriers stop us?
[Action]
Uh huh.
[Bart, Bart, Bart, Bart. Kon just sighs and now that he's properly collected himself he explains.]
Because when you get too close, you go out cold. I tried it after my powers came back when I arrived. Ended up crashing into a faceful of water. My friend did the same, she tried to swim it but no dice, she washed up. Even Supes can't get through. You lose your powers for a while after it aswell. So I wouldn't try unless you wanted to slam into an invisible wall and spend even longer at normal speed.
[Action]
Let me get this straight. I'm stuck. On a turtle island. Which is probably not very big. There's an invisible wall that will knock me out if I get too close, and I can probably get too close in microseconds.
I hate this place. I know I've already said that, but it needs to be said. You have to show me where to stop running.
[Action]
Kon nods letting him know he's right about the fact he's stuck and that he'd get to the barrier pretty quick.]
That's nothing, wait til you see the stuff that goes on. [Another nod.] I can take you just as you feel things start to slow down. Uh...speed wise not world wise. I guess the world speeds up for you? Visually. Speedsters, so difficult.
Re: [Action]
He blinks a few times, trying to put the words in an order that works.]
I speed up. The world slows down. You make it sound like we complicate things on purpose. But yeah, when that happens, trust me. Top of the list.
[Action]
Real hard.
He gives you a look.]
Seriously? You probably do! I mean, I dunno how you see the world, like, I can't imagine it. So to me...I would think speedsters when they lose their power...the world like speeds up cause you'd usually see in it slow-mo. Anyway, whatever. Cool, let me know and we'll put on the breaks so we're not spending several hours wet and powerless.
So uh, wanna go just now? Think you can go fast enough?
[Action]
[Bart zips over to the door.]
Not top speed, but it'll do. Let's go - and yeah, not ending up wet and powerless. Don't even think about turning this into a prank. I will get you back for it, Kon.
[Action]
[Look at this innocent young boy, does he look like the kind that would do that? He might make you go just out enough that you can't use the water as a surface but still close enough he can fly. Maybe. Kon grins and hovers, moving over to the door before he flies off.]
Aw c'mon I'd never do something so immature!
[Action]
[Yes. Yes, he does, but not enough that Bart doesn't blindly race off after Kon. He can take whatever's in store.]
I never said it wouldn't have some finesse!
[Action]
[Kon speeds up and weaves about. Heading off towards the coast. It doesn't take as long as it would for normal people, maybe ten minutes for Kon at the speed he was going. He stops for a moment at the beach and then moves again, moving closer the the barrier.]
[Action]
[Bart nods sagely. If you're going to present a working theory on puns, you best have thought it through.]
They let him in for 'batarangs' alone. Plus, there's the whole Batman thing. Do you want to be the one to tell him he's not invited? I know I wouldn't do it. No one would.
[He follows Kon along, trying to learn this route to wherever. Obviously, the barrier goes all the turtle, but knowing the shortest way out to the edge could be helpful. When Kon stops at the beach, so does Bart. There's a split second of hesitation to follow again; he's still looking around, but he refuses to fall that far behind and picks up the pursuit again.
[Action]
Kon keeps racing towards the barrier, the faint dip in altitude told him he was getting close and that his powers were slowly starting to falter. He doesn't go as fast as he had with Nita, that sudden stop had sucked, but his movements are a little cautious. He's looking down watching Bart.]
Not that far.
[Action]
[The question doesn't need to be answered, because in the time that asking took, his powers take enough of a hit that his feet aren't keeping up with the momentum of his upper body. Bart trips and goes tumbling. He doesn't skid far enough to get knocked out by the barrier, but he's definitely woozy.]
Oh. That far.
[Bart sits up and shakes his head to try and clear it.]
Yep. Hate this place.
[Action]
Hey, I did tell you. Just a good thing I still got my tactile telekinesis that I can drag your wet ass back quicker than you can swim.
[Okay, he was still replaying the image of Bart in his mind and it had him cracking up again as he dumps the speedster on the beach. He calms down and wipes at his eyes.]
Oh man, that was killer. There's also like another mile of water until you hit the point I did.
[Action]
You did. I didn't think it would hit that fast. Thanks for fishing me out.
[He smiles a little with that. Kon could have easily made him swim to shore.]
I wonder if I can vibrate the water out of my clothes. I'm kinda afraid to try, if this is the only normal stuff I get. It's a little cold, though. We good here? Anything else I need to see?
[Action]
There's people here who make clothes, so you can get them pretty normal too.
[There's a shrug as Kon floats up and he thinks for a moment.]
Uh, just the good places to eat.
[Action]
[Bart looks at himself and shakes his head, before trying to get his hair to slick backwards.]
How 'good' are we talking? Because I don't think a lot of places are going to let me in like this. No shoes, no shirt, no service. It needs an addition: no dripping on the floor. Wanna just blaze by 'em?
[Action]
The foods better than what you expect. They have a lot of different meats here but they taste okay. I mean it might be a little harder for you cause there's the whole rationing thing.
Hope you're as good at remembering places as you are at useless knowledge. [By useless, he means the crap you could win a pub quiz with.]
[Action]
[A mildly disgusted look crosses his face. He's not happy with the rationing, but now he's wondering if he's going to accidentally eat a household pet.]
Yeah. I'll deal with it. I've got the places down. I think. Race you to the Metal Sector.
[A blink, and he's thirty feet ahead.]
You coming, slowpoke?
[Action]
You are so on! [Slowpoke? He pushes a little harder to get himself to go faster. Taking a slightly different turn here and there. Not a short cut, there wasn't really any short cuts until you going into the Sector you wanted.]
Last one there buys dinner.
