[ who's THIS nerd? oh, it's just Gwen Stacy. who's been here for over a week now, but she certainly pretended not to be until she ran into a certain webslinging photographer, and now she's- well, she's still a little bit in denial of being here and of everything she's heard about this place, but at least she isn't going completely insane over it. so she turns on the feed and she's sitting at the computer with the sort of practiced poise any seventeen year-old girl learns to sit with when speaking with someone over a webcam ( spoiler: nobody but Gwen thinks of things like this ). she's a little nervous, but it doesn't show. she just has a question, that's all. no big deal.

Hello everyone, my name is Gwen Stacy and I'm- [ an intern at OsCorp Industries ohwait! that means nothing here. ] -from New York, and I just wanted to introduce myself to you all, but also- [ she takes a breath, tries to be careful of her wording ] I know this city is understood to be an in-between, or a dream world, so I imagine a lot of what goes on here has to do with magic or ..something, but for the sake of my own sanity I really must ask; where does this society stand in regards to the sciences? Is there some sort of laboratory here at all? Because, as much as I appreciate the opportunity to contribute to the community by way of restoring some of the older buildings here- [ SHE HATES IT ] I would really love to continue the same type of work I did back home. Which was, simply put, lab sciences.

So. Who.. should I talk to, if I'm looking for that kind of work? I actually have my resume on my iPad, if there's an issue of having the proper credentials or anything like that, but for now I'm really only asking in the general sense.

When the video display turns on Gwen is greeted by a very well put together woman in a black dress suit. She's sitting at a desk.]

As small as it may be we're still represented here Miss Stacy. What sort of work were you doing back home before you were brought here?

I don't really know much of anything about science, but I just wanted to say Hi. As, you know, a fellow New Yorker.

If you are looking to enter a similar line of work here, there is a fellow foreigner here by the name of Tony Stark, who as I understand it is the man to speak to, depending on the sort of science you may have studied at home.

[ she takes a deep breath, running her hands through her hair ]

I -- it's Liz. You remember me, right? [ a beat ] Except... you probably don't.

[ Gwen actually looks kind of startled, because seriously, she wasn't all that social back at school. there were a lot of kids that only knew her as the police captain's daughter, or that one girl that always has all the answers in class. which, neither of those things made her exactly popular. she tries to rack her brain, maybe she worked with a Liz in class, in a lab, a group project in Lit class. but it's not coming to her. ]

Sorry, I don't. Are you a student at Midtown Science? Or an OsCorp intern, maybe. I'm a little slow to remember names. [ okay that's not true, but she feels really bad that she can't remember the girl ]

Oh, hi. [ she actually sounds pretty pleased, maybe just because having someone from the same 'neck of the woods' ( so to speak ) as her makes her feel a little less out of place ] Have you met a lot of New Yorkers here?

Biochemical research. [ back home, dropping Dr. Connors name was difficult for multiple reasons, so she hesitates as she figures out how to try and word it ] The scientist I interned for focused on cross-species genetics, so I have a fair amount of information about that with me, although it's not exactly common outside of his labs, so. I understand if that isn't entirely relavent here. And I just was transferred to the robotics department, a couple weeks ago. Mn, a couple weeks before I arrived here.

Tony Stark. Alright. [ bopbopbop typing that into her iPad now, actually. though she peeks up at that question ] An iPad? It's- here. [ she clears the screen so it's just on the normal home page, two rows of app icons lining the bottom over her background image, then holds it up to the camera. hey, she doesn't mind. it's no secret Gwen likes explaining things. ] This is an iPad. It's a portable computer, sort of. They call it a tablet, back home. It has all the basic functions of a computer.

[ ohoho we got a little joker. you're lucky you're a blonde boy that's about the same age as her youngest brother or she'd be making a stinkface at you ]

It still exists, though it's a city in England, not America, where I'm from. And it's just called York, not Old York. New York was simply named after it, after the land was claimed from the Dutch by the Britons.

[Pepper is about to make a comment about how there isn't any research being conducted of that particular nature, when Gwen mentions robotics. Robotics is defiantly up SI's ally.]

I might know a place where your abilities would be put to good use. How strong is your knowledge of robotics?

[he's still technically trying to be careful while on the network, but other teenagers should be ok, right? well, too late to go back now: hi Gwen, have a slightly less well-put-together kid of your age.]

Might be tough for any employers to get in touch with your work references if they're in another dimension. Unless your phone company is really, really good.

[ she just shakes her head back and forth. ]

No, no, no, it's not -- You're Gwen but you're not... you're not my Gwen. You don't even -- dress like her. I shouldn't have like, even bothered.

[ A GIRL AFTER HER OWN HEART. ]

There are labs! They're mostly run by foreigners and they aren't the most advanced, but they work well enough. I'm working with Bruce Banner on biological research, but I'm told that Bruce Wayne and Tony Stark both also have access to labs. They may be able to get you work if you ask them.

What sort of research were you doing?

Hehshyeah, you could say that. Not all from the same New York, but it's close enough for horseshoes and hand grenades.
