[ who's THIS nerd? oh, it's just Gwen Stacy. who's been here for over a week now, but she certainly pretended not to be until she ran into a certain webslinging photographer, and now she's- well, she's still a little bit in denial of being here and of everything she's heard about this place, but at least she isn't going completely insane over it. so she turns on the feed and she's sitting at the computer with the sort of practiced poise any seventeen year-old girl learns to sit with when speaking with someone over a webcam ( spoiler: nobody but Gwen thinks of things like this ). she's a little nervous, but it doesn't show. she just has a question, that's all. no big deal.

she's still going to be a bit formal about it anyway, but nobigdeal. ]

Hello everyone, my name is Gwen Stacy and I'm- [ an intern at OsCorp Industries ohwait! that means nothing here. ] -from New York, and I just wanted to introduce myself to you all, but also- [ she takes a breath, tries to be careful of her wording ] I know this city is understood to be an in-between, or a dream world, so I imagine a lot of what goes on here has to do with magic or ..something, but for the sake of my own sanity I really must ask; where does this society stand in regards to the sciences? Is there some sort of laboratory here at all? Because, as much as I appreciate the opportunity to contribute to the community by way of restoring some of the older buildings here- [ SHE HATES IT ] I would really love to continue the same type of work I did back home. Which was, simply put, lab sciences.

So. Who.. should I talk to, if I'm looking for that kind of work? I actually have my resume on my iPad, if there's an issue of having the proper credentials or anything like that, but for now I'm really only asking in the general sense.

[ she takes a deep breath, running her hands through her hair ]

I -- it's Liz. You remember me, right? [ a beat ] Except... you probably don't.

[interns]

[ Gwen actually looks kind of startled, because seriously, she wasn't all that social back at school. there were a lot of kids that only knew her as the police captain's daughter, or that one girl that always has all the answers in class. which, neither of those things made her exactly popular. she tries to rack her brain, maybe she worked with a Liz in class, in a lab, a group project in Lit class. but it's not coming to her. ]

Sorry, I don't. Are you a student at Midtown Science? Or an OsCorp intern, maybe. I'm a little slow to remember names. [ okay that's not true, but she feels really bad that she can't remember the girl ]

[firestars]

[ she just shakes her head back and forth. ]

No, no, no, it's not -- You're Gwen but you're not... you're not my Gwen. You don't even -- dress like her. I shouldn't have like, even bothered.

[ her mouth kinda drops open and then she's holding her hands up like oops oops i'm sorry i'm sorry how can i fix this ]

You're saying you know a Gwen Stacy? But she's not the same Gwen as me.

[ er, someone with her name, then.. although she isn't taking alternate realities into account at all, so. ]

It's okay. I'm like, new, so everything is still really strange to me. I -- I met a Peter Parker who wasn't even my Peter Parker, so I don't know --

My Gwen doesn't even like the stuff you were talking about, I'm pretty sure. I don't think you two really hvae anything in common...

It's not dumb. [ she shakes her head, almost sure that if someone with the name Helen Stacy or George Stacy or ( worse case, here ) Curtis Connors showed up, she would jump and hope it was the one she knew. so her tone is soft because nah, it's not dumb. in a place like this, it makes sense. ]

Mm, the Peter Parker here is someone I know, from home. [ nnnnnope she hasn't talked to the second Peter yet ] So. That makes sense? That I'm different from the Gwen you know. Wait. [ the fact that she knows Peter Parker finally connects in her head, she isn't just talking about a girl with the same name as her ] Oh, wow, wait, are you talking about like... An alternate reality? That's possible?

[firestars]

[ she blinks ]

Uh. Like, yeah. I mean, you don't know who I am and you get like, really close to MJ so you know that's not even possible so it has to be alternate universes.
