[There’s a beautiful, dark skinned girl with choppy hair looking at ease with the console as she turns the video feed on. She actually looks pretty calm, other than the nervous movement of her hands, as if she doesn’t know what to do with them, and the way she keeps looking around her, as if she can’t believe where she is. After a second, she gives a hesitant smile.] It’s kind of nice to use one of these and not worry about any of the problems that come with it. [Problems being that technology and demigods don’t exactly mix, you know.]

I was wondering if anyone could fill me on the situation? I couldn’t get any answers from the guys who brought me to this suite, which is really nice, by the way. [She sounds a little put out by that, the fact that she couldn’t get answers.] My name is Piper. [No last name, in case people here know her dad, and then she has to go through that awkward explanation phase that, yes, her dad was that hot guy in those movies.]

Normally people aren't on a giant turtle that's got a really bad cold with dragons on it, either. Really, at this point you could be a flying donkey and no one would bat an eye. I certainly wouldn't.

[Okay, point.] I think I've actually seen a movie like that, with a flying donkey.

Talking donkeys, yes, but I can't recall any flying donkeys.

He kind of flew for a little bit in that movie.

For all of two seconds so I'm not sure that counts as a flying donkey movie. And, uh, not really. We're descended from pharaohs, not gods.

Yeah, Ramses, Tutankhamen, Nefertiti, if you hear about them on the History Channel there's someone running around with their blood.

And those descendants are magicians? Like the whole abracadabra, look there's a rabbit in my hat? [Her tone is mostly curious, because she didn't think that well, there was anything else out there. Which is kind of silly of her, considering how much she believes in the old Cherokee legends her father and grandfather would tell her.]

More like, out of my way or I'll turn you into a banana slug if I don't blow your house up first.

[A lopsided grin.] That's a little violent.

Yet highly effective! I can put it all back together with a word anyway, if I like you well enough.

And I thought I knew some dangerous kids before today. [But she actually doesn't sound too worried about it. It's weird, sure, but she's also seen some crazy things.]
