[There’s a beautiful, dark skinned girl with choppy hair looking at ease with the console as she turns the video feed on. She actually looks pretty calm, other than the nervous movement of her hands, as if she doesn’t know what to do with them, and the way she keeps looking around her, as if she can’t believe where she is. After a second, she gives a hesitant smile.] It’s kind of nice to use one of these and not worry about any of the problems that come with it. [Problems being that technology and demigods don’t exactly mix, you know.]

I was wondering if anyone could fill me on the situation? I couldn’t get any answers from the guys who brought me to this suite, which is really nice, by the way. [She sounds a little put out by that, the fact that she couldn’t get answers.] My name is Piper. [No last name, in case people here know her dad, and then she has to go through that awkward explanation phase that, yes, her dad was that hot guy in those movies.]

I’m also looking for my friends. Particularly a guy named Jason. Blond, really good looking, he likes to follow rules. [A grin now.] Although, I guess if any of them are here, they’ll find me this way.

[A grin in return.] It can't hurt to try, at least. It'd definitely be a worthy cause.

[She shifts a bit, folding her arms over her chest as she looks Annabeth over.] I'd definitely prefer it, but we don't get things that easy. Speaking of, so. This place.

[Grinning.] Maybe once the turtle's well again.

[Annabeth huffs up a bit at the look over, but there's no real irritation. She scrunches her face up at the question, though.] This place. There's a lot I can share. Any preferences on where to start?

It'll be an interesting experiment.

[Piper shrugs helplessly before moving over to a couch and plopping down on it.] Not really, I guess. Anywhere you want to start is good for me.

At the very least.

[Annabeth flops over on the same couch, crossing her legs up and leaning her elbows on her knees.]

[AND THEN SHE LAUNCHES INTO AN EXPLANATION OF TURTLE RELATED THINGS, like the rationing and landfall and Asti and powers being tied to the turtle and about the thing they're here to fight and how it's killing Asti ETC ETC ETC. There is literally too much to type out in regular conversation at this point.]

[Which is cool by me because I probably would have cried if we actually typed that conversation out.

I mean.

Piper nods and asks the appropriate questions and looks entirely disturbed, which is the appropriate reaction to all of this information, of course. By the end, she just lets out a loud sigh.]

How did we even end up in this situation? We haven't even finished our first mess yet.

[Ok excellent we are on the same page.]

[Annabeth gives a small sigh of her own.]

I know that was mostly rhetorical, but the Emperor's the one who brought us here. She told me it was a 'call for heroes,' which, you know, apparently right up our alley. [Vaguely annoyed and bitter sounding by this?!] And time works weirdly in this place, in case you haven't noticed.

Aren't there other heroes not bothered by saving their own world? [But now she's thinking about that, her voice drifting off a bit at the end. Oops, that ADHD. Does that mean everyone here is a hero? Oh, gods. The egos involved in that. Percy and Jason can barely stand to look at each other without some sparks flying, and even that is pretty mild.] I'm noticing.

[A beat.] So all we have to do is defeat this thing, and we get to go home?

I don't think she really cares either way. I'm not sure everyone here considers themselves a hero, and Eshai mentioned something about the spell going a little wrong.

[She makes a face.] That's the implication. It's what everyone's hoping, though some people have disappeared before we even knew its name. Presumably, they're back home. But we're not sure, exactly.

You should know, the whole summoning bit - it might have just been our souls. [AND THEN DO DO DO HERE IS TALK ABOUT PERCY DISCOVERING THE CLONING FACILITY AND THEN IT BLOWING UP AND HOW THEY'RE EITHER IN CLONED BODIES OR THE EMPEROR IS MAKING CLONED BODIES but she leaves out the official confirmation from Vanessa via the Emperor, for now.]

[Piper chews on her lip, glaring down at the floor. This is infinitely worse than going in blind against Gaea. At least their world is familiar, and the gods still help when they can. But she's got a feeling there are no gods here.]

But we don't know if they really went home, then? [Where could they have gone.

And then Annabeth lays the smackdown on the whole clone and soul thing, and that makes her infinitely more worried. What if the people who disappeared don't even go home? They're just... souls locked up somewhere. She fidgets.] I'm starting to see why people don't ask too many questions sometimes.

[A sigh.] No. We don't know. There've been cases of people showing up again after leaving, both with and without memories.

[hi her name is Annabeth Chase, welcome to TL;DR.] I think the problem is more we still don't have as many answers as we'd like, regardless of how many questions we ask. [But lbr, lack of answers is always an issue with her.]

So this Emperor or whatever, they could just have our souls locked up somewhere? [After everything they've been through, it really doesn't seem that farfetched.

Piper gives Annabeth a Look, almost a smirk, some exasperation.] There really aren't enough answers in the world for you, you know.

I think she's summoned our souls. I don't know if she keeps them locked up and waiting, or just summons them as she needs them. It's hard to actually take what she says at face value anymore either.

[Huffpuff.] It doesn't matter. Answers are endless, just like the questions. [Not exactly helping her point but still getting all Sophocles up in here.]

How would she even make the bodies? The clones, I mean. Can you get that sort of thing from a soul? [In their world, probably. She presses a hand to her chest, as if she could touch her own soul. Is it hers? Is this body?]

Answers can't be endless if there aren't any to be found.

[She shakes her head.] Percy and some others got a look at the original facility, but none of them were the science type. As far as we've come to know, the exact process is still a mystery. Leo and I have talked about it, but it's only theorizing at this point.

They're there. We just haven't found them. There are always answers, even if they're shoved away and hidden to a ridiculous level.

And now the facility is blown to pieces. Although, I mean, if I'm here... Then she has to have another one. If this isn't some big secret, why doesn't someone just ask the Emperor where it is? [Yeah, right. Come on, Piper. We all know that people in charge never give direct answers. Fft.]

Well, if our powers come back, my voice and I are ready to do any digging. [Because she wants to be useful, okay. ;; She wants to do something that will help Annabeth in any way.]

We were all fished out of the ocean at first. Now everyone gets carted over from the palace. [She pauses.] They don't like to give answers. Well, I guess Eshai's a little more open than Evandau depending, but most of the time we get 'we'll know when we need to.' [:T]

[But Annabeth's face lights up.] If we could get the Emperor out of the palace - I don't think charmspeak would work on her in the walls, but it's completely worth a shot next time she leaves. [Which ok that part might take a while BUT IT'S STILL POSSIBLE.]

So maybe it's hidden inside of the palace now. A new facility, that is. [She snorts.] That's nothing new for us.

[Piper smiles at the way that Annabeth's face lights up at the mention of charmspeaking.] I'm willing to give it a shot. The worst that can happen is that it doesn't work, and it's not like we're in any worse shape then. [She's so up for charmspeaking the pants off of Eshai.]

I wouldn't be surprised. Actually, I kind of expect that to be the case. [She raises an eyebrow.] See? Not all that different from home and what we're used to.

Exactly. [She's actually pretty excited by this prospect. If not the Emperor, Piper's charmspeak would definitely be useful in other capacities.] In the meantime - welcome to Keeliai, do you have anymore glaring questions? I think I've covered most of the basics. [And she'd rather give her friend more time to settle in before going deeper.]

I should get used to everything pretty quickly then. Next thing you know, a few gods will show up, maybe a giant or two.

[A small smile flashes over her face.] Nope. I really can't think of anything else, but maybe I'm still absorbing everything that's going on. [She is taking it pretty well, though.]

[She makes a face.] Those are the parts I would prefer stay far away, really.

[But Annabeth nods.] There's... a lot to absorb. I didn't mean to overwhelm or dump so much on you. [Not entirely.]

[A slight grin.] Me, too, actually. The gods would be practically useless as usual anyway. [ahahahaha, yay talking about them and not getting smited.]

No, I asked! I mean, you're not overwhelming me. The situation is. It's... insane?

[She grins back. One of the best things about the place, tbh.] It's kind of how I've been looking at and dealing with Eshai. She doesn't treat us much differently. [Using them for what she needs and all that.]

Insane is applicable. At least the giant turtle is friendly above the usual giant-creature-hostile.

But we don't actually answer to her, right? [There's a fundamental difference here at least.]

So did you get to talk to him, too? [A beat.] Frank told me that Percy did.

We can get thrown in her jail, but that's usually only if we piss off her or Evandau in some way. But it's a lot different from the way it is at home. [And there are still plenty of rules to break! 8D]

In my dreams, yeah. Leo did, too. His mind is too vast and ancient to speak with us when we're awake.

Jail sounds somewhat more preferable than being smited for looking the wrong way at someone or something. [Yay rules!!!! 8D]

What was that like? [Because it sounds super cool...]
