This thing on? I don't remember stumbling into one of those little kiosks for something like this. It's not even really my style. I show up here, meet some weird locals, and now I'm wherever here is supposed to be.

[Not really the most eloquent thing to say right off the bat, but what is? This is clearly some sort of illusion and he is probably talking to nobody in particular. Maybe he's drunk right now. Last time he checked though, it takes a lot more than a couple of glasses to tank an angel. Drinking is essentially his hobby....well...maybe one of many was a better way of putting it.]

Listen...I'm all for an afterlife. I don't remember a time though where I ever considered a bloody turtle as the epitome of what my in-between or what have you would be like. I always pictured something with a little more pizazz.

[And by pizazz, he means the offer of specific kinds of encounters with various specific clientele they seek to please. If he is going to be the proud owner of a piece of this afterlife then he wants legitimate compensation for the pain and suffering of not knowing where he is. Well, he DOES know where he is in the sense that it was sort of explained. It still does not make any sense whatsoever.]

At least tell me there's a decent place to get a drink around here. That would really round out my experience aboard this, er...turtle paradise.

[For that matter, why does he feel so absolutely drained right now? He feels a bit like warmed over crap right now. Is that what the whole dying thing does to an angel? It just does not seem right in the slightest.]

Y'know, heard something funny that I'm inclined to believe. The turtle's actually on a planet. We live on a turtle island.

So we're on a giant turtle walking around on some unknown planet for no good reason? I'm starting to get the feeling that this is all somebody's idea of a really elaborate joke.

[This may all be a little too complex for a mere illusion though. Those residents from before were none too chatty, but they seemed real enough.]

You seem chipper about all of this. You ride on turtles often?

I don't, but that's what's great, isn't it?? The turtle's swimming, also, in one of the oceans on the base planet. Dunno how anyone knows that for sure, but-- [Handwave.]

Admittedly I guess now I know what it's like. Check one off of the bucket list. I was really just hoping that I'd end up with an afterlife that involved various indulgences. The more I hear, the more disappointed I am that I just ended up here randomly. Not BORING at least...

Little more flare. Little more pomp and circumstance. Sometimes things get too mundane...even your giant turtle for that matter.

[Never seen a blue guy before, but hey. Angel right here and there are plenty of different kinds of species where Balthazar comes from. The way this one said what he did about obtaining what they both apparently needed is a little disheartening.]

I suppose I wouldn't mind. Share the wealth as they say. Are they withholding alcohol around here?

Well, I'm sure this place is a little more exciting when there isn't currently some kind of...effect going on.

There's turtle wide rationing under way, alcohol kind of falls under that as well. I've just not really looked for it. [He'd have been able to answer the question if his friend had been here though.]

Rationing? So it brings us all here and then it limits necessities and desires? This is starting to sound more like Hell...Turtle Hell even. Fear not though. I will make it my number one priority to locate some.

That's certainly comforting.

[He did not feel attuned to this place before and he certainly does not with the more time that passes. It is one thing to pull him away from what was happening to him in his world, but placing him in a restricted one is not really the right way to win points.]

They really know how to roll out the red carpet for guests. Not even a decent amount of the good stuff. No gift baskets or anything. You sound as if you got the unfortunate chance to sample whatever is available to us.

[Balthazar mumbles. Better and better...this place really has just so much to offer! Right now though, he would gladly accept swill if it meant that he could get a little plastered. He is not even so much an alcoholic as a aficionado of everything indulgent.]

I've had some delightfully awful drinks before. I might have to try it out for myself. You don't happen to have any swill lying around, would you?

Drinks are a little hard to come by with the rations, but there are a couple good places in the Fire Sector.

And my accommodations appear to be in the Fire Sector exactly. Maybe my luck is finally returning to me after all.

[There may be some restored faith in there in regards to the existence of something good as it is claimed to be. The other conversations were a bit of a disappointment.]

Most helpful advice all day. Do you know the reputations of these places from personal experience?

I don't know if I'd go that far. [He replies with a hint of humor, because this place sucks.]

I know one of them. Another was suggested by a friend. They're friendly enough if you give them your tickets and pay like you're supposed to.
