002 - Video

[The feed flickers on to Toph in a swivel chair, idly twisting back and forth as she talks. Restlessness is plain in her features. Her tone is wry.]

Okay, so. Since I seem to keep getting questions about it, if you couldn't tell, I'm blind. [She illustrates this by waving a hand in front of her face.] Yep, that means I can't see anything. Complete darkness. All of that. Ooooooh.

[She leans back, looking especially wry.] So if we can get past the incredible magic blind girl thing now, I've got a question.

Normally I have a way I can "see" through my feet, but with the turtle on the fritz, that's not working, and I'm not just going to sit around and pick my toes whenever Mr. Flippers decides he's got a head cold.

I need someone -- or a couple people, I don't care -- who know how to fight blind. I'm a fast learner, and I know how to move, so teaching me isn't going to be a problem.

Only complication? You have to come here. I'm at Korra's in the Metal sector. She's currently out saving the world or something, and I'm not getting run over trying to reach you. She's got the space here, so it shouldn't be a problem.

Bending is pretty physical, actually. Follows forms and stances just like martial arts -- just the only thing you make contact with is rock. So if I was going to stop a rock flying at my chest -- [Arms and hands flash with movement into a stance that ends with one hand palm out at the screen. Immediately Toph's face had taken on a more focused look; clearly this is her element, and she is good at it.] From there I can either send it back at you or bat it away or whatever I want.

[Damian - no, Robin - watches that quietly, then the faint, dry smile is audible.]

In that case, you want somebody who can adjust the motions you have into an immediate-impact combat style, without the element as an intermediary. Also who will increase the difficulty of the terrain you're training on, to challenge you into more spacial awareness, which can translate, in turn, into non-combat situations.

[Okay, he's surprised Toph a bit there -- but it just as quickly forms into a grin.]

[Her head tilts at this, and she smirks -- but it's pleased.]

Okay. You going to be the guy with the rose in his teeth?

[A small snicker of laughter. Mostly she'd just thrown the comment in for his reaction.]

[Yeah, this one needs to lighten up a bit. He's kind of like Zuko, but more somber. (And that's saying something.) Less dorky. Toph snorts, batting his statement away with a hand.]
