Uh... so, anyone got any plans for the New Year's?

[yeah, he's trying to be more sociable for the moment. But, it's kind of obvious that this post was not meant for everyone on the network. He just felt kind of awkward. He's switching feeds now.]

[Basic Encryption; Locked to Legend of Korra and ATLA casts-- sans Amon, because seriously.]

Okay, so. I'm not sure how much everyone's noticed that there are no sports here, but there basically isn't. And with Bo being back, and all the Fire Ferrets together, we have enough people to form at least two teams for a pro-bending match, maybe three. Asami knows the rules of the game, and she could ref for us.

I'm not really suggesting we make a pro-bending league or regular habit out of it, but if we did a match, it might give either the other foreigners or the Kedan an idea or two.

And New Year's is probably the best time to do it.

So, anyone in?

[Basic Encryption; Locked to Korra]

[A man whom the citizens of Tu Vishan might have glimpsed on occasion fixes a piercing, sharp gaze into the feed. The man is incredibly neat, uncharacteristically clean-shaven, and stern almost to the point of lacking any emotional inflection.

--Save for an unusual trembling tic in his lip when he speaks, and the slight off-center tie of his neck scarf. That indicated, to anyone close enough to be familiar with his habits, that some tremendous excitement boils within him. A hunger sparks deep in his pupils. He speaks at last after a few moments' pause, as if to let the gravity of his expression sink in, and his tone is curt, blunt, and commanding.]

I am looking for any man or woman interested in the case of the recently slashed Madame Emperor.

Who is working on it immediately? I have got the precinct local dossier; so do many of you. But I am sure there are people that have seen more than that. I tell you now to come forward, do not keep it quiet. It is a useless waste to keep the investigations separate. Let us pool the evidence and put our skulls together.

My name is Javert. I am somewhat familiar with kedan police policies, I have spent some time with them. You must call for me quick. I will speak with any that have got something to add.

[The video comes up not with the backdrop of the Commander's office, but instead that of the Emperor's personal quarters. It is Alderwood that sits there, his expression dark and controlled; there are signs of grief in the redness of his eyes same as there are signs of activity in the motion of police kedan behind him, but he ignores that to address the network.]

The Ironwood Emperor is-- [Here, he breaks a moment before the line of his jaw settles with stonelike strength and he continues.] She is dead.

[Centuries of war that she survived, centuries of difficulties, and he found her as innocently dead as a victim in a murder. Evandau appears torn, once again on the brink of the grief that threatens to consume him, but he forces himself into mould of a Commander so that he might serve the purpose of this message.]

The sealed scroll outlining her succession was opened this morning under my authority as Commander. [His hand moves, briefly touching a rolled up scroll set on the flat surface before withdrawing as though burned.] It was her wish that I assume all authorities and responsibilities as Emperor after her passing.

[His look is pained, but does not break.]

Henceforth, I assume the role of Alderwood Emperor and thusly fulfill her wishes. The responsibilites of the Commander will continue with me until I choose a successor.

[A pause, a breath as he composes his next words.]

The Palace of Landed Sky is closed to all petitioners until further notice. Without Eshai's power protecting it, this is no longer a safe haven for those that wish to speak its name, so do not risk it.

[For he already suspects that Malicant is behind this and will not have it invited in to make a pair of he and Eshai in death.

That brings him to the end of what he needed to announce and so he only offers one flat statement in closing.]

This changes nothing of your presence or purpose, so do not come beg of return. Those magicks are beyond me and my priority is determining what fool made the decision to kill her.

Good morning.

I believe most of you are aware of the recent... problem that some of the foreigners had, recently, becoming invisible and losing some aspect of who they are, whether physical or otherwise.

I have two questions regarding that, in an attempt to find out what happened, why, and how it can possible be prevented in the future. Of course, the primary theory for a reason is that disorder in Keeliai weakens the turtle and gives more power to the threat to it, or some variation thereof, but maybe that is imprecise - or not specific enough.

The questions are:

First, are any of you still afflicted by whatever you lost when you got shifted from phase? If not, did you notice something peculiar before, around the time of, or after the problem discontinued?

Second, [ and Damian holds up a sketch, police-style but executed very, very well, of a youngish, dark skinned kedan man, about 25-30, drawn from the description of the old couple running the museum and confirmed by them, ] have any of you seen or talked with this man? Whether you were affected by the occurrence or not.

My name is Damian Wayne, I will be here, at the [ name of the cafe ] in Earth sector until noon, feel free to find me here or ask to meet somewhere else later, if you are unwilling to discuss your answers over the consoles.

Thank you for your time.

This is made more obvious by Bianca hovering nearby. Armin turns in her general direction and quietly thanks her for "helping," although it's not entirely clear what that help was.]

[Then he looks at the camera. Sort of. His gaze is slightly off-center, and his eyes are... Oh goodness.]

[His eyes are their usual bright blue, but either his pupils are gone or they've contracted so acutely that they've become invisible. The effect is eerie to say the least; he almost looks like a ghost. His somber expression doesn't help matters any.]

Hello.

[He pauses, unsure, and then sighs deeply. His tone is bitter and defeated.]

I've been told that it's very likely that he's no longer here, but I wanted to make sure... Has anyone seen or heard from Eren Yeager recently? He's my age, a little taller, brown hair, green eyes-- and he wears the same uniform that I do. He tends to stand out, he's very... loud.

I suppose I should ask after Bertholt Hoover as well. Again, he wears our uniform, but he's very tall. I don't think he's here anymore either, but if anyone has seen him, I would appreciate a word.

Thank you very much for your assistance. Although sometimes I feel that's all I use this machine for.

[ Hello, turtle dwellers! It's a new face appearing this evening. He's slumped over in front of his console, hands still hovering on the keyboard and the screen that activated the camera. The older man is wearing a strange costume, sans the helmet with a black domino mask covering his eyes.

Beside him, another man dressed in a black spandex undersuit has a hold of his arm and is trying in vain to pull the arm guard off him. He's about to speak into the camera when he winces. ]

Ow--Owww! What're you doing? My arm doesn't bend that way, Bunny!

[Barnaby huffs at his partner's protests, not at all sympathetic to his predicament.]

Well, maybe it would if you turned around for a second. Honestly, I can't believe you. You should have read how to take your suit off before you put it on in the first place!

Well, I shouldn't have to read the suit's manual since Saitou always has the truck stationed to take it off!

Yeah, except when he doesn't, like now. I even specifically asked him to make it easier to take off our suits just in case we had to do it ourselves! Of course, that doesn't do any good if you don't bother to educate yourself on how your own equipment works.

Well, I'm sorry! I didn't expect I'd need to know so soon [ aka like two years. ] So there's really no point in worrying about it now, right? Let's try and solve this!

[ Now then! Back to the whole point of this transmission. Wild Tiger brings his attention back to the screen with a sheepish grin. ]

Uhm, hello! So... Funny story, actually... I, uh, ehhh usually have a machine take my Hero suit off and uhmm... since our suit guy isn't here... Kinda been stuck in it all day.

Anyone else ever had this problem...? Eh hehehe... he...

[Ugh, if he was going to make a transmission, he could have given a little bit of a warning. As much as he scolded Kotetsu, Barnaby did generally have the decency to not do it in front of strangers.

Well, whatever. No reason to involve himself as though he were somehow responsible for this mess. Better to wash his hands of it and move out of eyesight. So he does just that and promptly walks off-screen.]

Okay, so it's actually been a while since we went back, but things have been busy. Ish. [And Catty's lazy]

The point is, I took a group of people back in time to see if we could find out anything interesting or important, and the answer is...not really. We ran into a kid called Lieuen conducting a business deal sixty seven years ago - I think he was selling sculptures? I don't know, I didn't see that one.

About a hundred and seventy three years ago, there was apparently a really great harvest, because there were a bunch of kedan planning a festival. I didn't hear them speaking, but the kedan I did hear...I don't know, the way they spoke was simpler? It's hard to explain properly, but I guess the kedan hanging around in the present have evolved. Or their language has.

Probably the most interesting was the fact that about three hundred and forty nine years ago, Keeliai got completely wrecked. Well, okay, partially wrecked, but something big hit it. It was really hard to see or hear anything for some reason, but the Emperor's boyfriend - sorry, Evandau - was there running security checkpoints. And there weren't any kedan around at all. A few looked pretty similar to our glorious leaders, and there was a big thing about identity. Like, the checkpoints were all scanning cards and making people ask questions, that sort of thing.

So! I don't know if any of that is helpful or interesting to - well, anyone, but that's what we saw. I'm not sure when I'll start getting things organised to go back a second time, but when I do, I'll probably hit up that last place again. Maybe if I spend three days in the same place, I can find out what was going on.

They tell me he's gone! Disappeared and never came back!

I had just found him and- he promised me he would never leave me, just as I had promised him before! I told him I'd be a better sister- [She breaks off sharply, closing her dark eyes and turning her gaze downward. After a moment, her hand comes up to pinch the bridge of her nose and she shakes her head.]

Non. I shall not cry. We are Thénardiers, and we do not cry. He would not have it, and so I will not cry. He is... There is nothing for him in Paris. And I fear there are fewer and fewer things for me here. [She takes a ragged inhale, looking up again, her eyes wet and bright as the tip of her nose stings, the end red. But her voice is calmer when she speaks again, solid and determined.]

My dear brother is gone. Gavroche Thénardier has gone at last to the heaven he deserved. Born of a wolf and a hag, he was an angel.

By now she's done her research and done it well, but that doesn't make the current situation any more pleasant for her. The body she's found herself in might be taller and in far better physical condition than her own, but without her bending it feels not only foreign but confining. She curls her hands into fists, once, and slowly relaxes them again.]

I figure whoever used to have this body is in mine now, and this is the easiest way to find you.

It's gone.

Somebody took it.

[Her hand clutched at her chest.  Where the chain normally rested.  But now, there was nothing.  She shouldn't've been surprised. There were thieves around. There were always thieves. Gavroche had already admitted that he took things, though she didn't for a moment think it was him. She'd never told him about the cross.]

[Then again, she'd never told anyone.]

Please.

And I have three questions that need to be answered. Important questions.
First, where is the police station located? I work in forensics and I'd like a job as soon as possible. I get... bored without something to do.

[ I also need a way to get information on people, learn the ropes, things like that. Working at Miami Metro was such a useful tool. ]

Second, is there a good donut shop around here? Sadie's Donuts and Coffee was a Miami thing, so I'm guessing that doesn't exist here. But, donuts are a necessity.
And, third, where can I get a pulled pork sandwich? A good one, preferably Cuban, but I can make do if that's not an option.
