Guys, we need a school.

And not JUST because I've been stuck in Turtle-opolis for almost six months and I'm seriously behind in my studies. [She cycles through six different half-grumpy, half teasing faces before she assumes a more serious face.] I know people have been offering to teach self defense and magic and stuff like that, but it's not -- look, it's what we need to be doing.

Educating ourselves is how we prepare for stuff like -- you know, the thing that we have to prepare for.

Obviously, I'd mostly just be a student. I think most of the people who can teach valuable skills already are, but they could afford to be more coordinated. That means we need a Headmaster. Any volunteers?

[She clears her throat and steps back from the camera, revealing half her apartment to be covered with notes about something -- presumably this project.] Oh, yeah, I have a preliminary curriculum, lemme know what you think.

Lessee, we got... Self Defense, English, Kedan Language and Culture, Computer Science, Magic, Physics and how not to introduce stupid invasive furballs into the ecosystem.

Ahem. I mean Newcomer Orientation. Obviously there's not enough of us to really do levels or whatever, but come on. Let's get on it!

Okay, this school? Is not about making sure kids can continue their education. That's a nice side benefit and all, but this school is about making sure we're ready for the war we've been called here to fight. You wanna worry about kids' safety, why don't you worry about that?

(I am so, so sorry. He's just really ups-- I mean, angry, over such a choice.)

That school is not intending to teach anything that will help fight the war. Like, oh, strategy, history of the threat, mental defenses, investigations. Only disciplines that would be useful in the everyday life, here. But, apparently, you have not noticed the difference.

Even so, putting them under the influence of a power-hungry manipulator will not make them better soldiers.

Strategy, history and investigations need a handful of people each, and trying to catch people is a losing game. Better we focus on making sure they can defend themselves, physically and magically -- which we may well cover mentally, too. Depends who's doing the teaching.

And that's how most people become soldiers, actually. We're already under the influence of so many. At least this one we have some control over.

And yet you put those who choose to attend under the reckless and dangerous choice of somebody who has proved that his influence is detrimental.

You have control, not 'we'. And you use it stupidly, carelessly, and dangerously. Do not try to pass it off as a good thing.
