12 ❄ ( VIDEO )
[ Jack has gone back and forth between Keeliai and Tu Vishan several times, each more insistent than before, before returning to his suite to relay this message. He sticks to video because he's a little weary (mentally more than physically) and most of the people he knew needed to hear this news, he knew could see and hear him or the petite, jewel-toned faerie securely perched on his shoulder in the soft folds of his sweater's hood. The feed begins as he's still talking to her and it catches the last of his words and her soft chirping. ]
--et them know, Baby Tooth, just a minute.
[ Then he addresses the screen properly, keeping his voice level and steady. ]
I know everything's been a little crazy lately with... you know, that message--
--but I wanted to let people know, Finnick Odair has gone home. I've looked all over and neither I nor the Wind can't find him anywhere on Tu Vishan or in Sinbrilee. I'm sure he... would have said goodbye, if he'd been able. But I didn't want people to just be looking for him and not realize.
[ a beat and then, unable to think of anything more appropriate to add: ]
Sorry.
[ private to Traci & Korra ]
I'd like to keep the fishing business open, even if it'll have to move to a building not attached to his suite but... I think he'd have liked that, and I don't want you two to be out of jobs. I'll understand if you'd prefer not to, though. I know I've... never really been around it much for supposedly being half the ownership.

Re: Video; 100% Starkryption
Yeah, she’s my polar bear dog. She’s always been able to find me. [An animal companion of the Avatar always did, every cycle.] And this girl Ororo helped bring her to me in Sibrilee. Actually, Naga brought her to me, but it works either way I guess.
[A smile come across her face at the memory.]
Sinbrilee has been nice actually.
Re: Video; 100% Starkryption
Yeah, it's been... great.
[ As long as you didn't count the arches and the plethora of dead people he couldn't help but empathize with even though they were all pretty nice about it, and the fact that the people closest to him probably wanted to put enough distance between them and he to fit another continent-sized turtle. ]
A real romp.
Video; 100% Starkryption
[It just hit her mid sentence what her statement meant.]
No. No, not that part. [Unable to stop from shutting her eyes, Korra let out an uneasy sigh. The arches she had been through were an emotional roller coaster and Jack's was at the highest point where it felt like she would have fallen off.]
It was just, nice, you know? To meet someone else around our age, and to get Naga back. Like a piece of home.
Re: Video; 100% Starkryption
Re: Video; 100% Starkryption
[She had been so involved with Finnick disappearance and the dream (nightmare) she shared with Jack that only just now did Korra notice the small, flying thing hovering around Jack.]
Who’s your little friend? [Unable to resist, Korra waggled her finger at in hello as she peered at her.] She’s cute.
Re: Video; 100% Starkryption
[ He breaks into a smile at the question. ]
This is Baby Tooth. Baby Tooth, this is Korra.
Re: Video; 100% Starkryption
You can’t smell them Naga, the consoles aren’t windows. [Pushing Naga’s cheek, Korra guided the polar bear dogs head next to hers.]
Re: Video; 100% Starkryption
Video; 100% Starkryption
The Tooth Fairy, nope. Spirits are usually only in the Spirit World, though they do cross over to our world on occasion. That's when the Avatar is usually involved, but nothing like that has ever happened to me before and I've never been to the Spirit World before. You're the spirit I've ever seen, and she's [Baby Tooth] the second.
[A beat.]
I'm not that great with my spiritual side. [Admitted a little guiltily. Back home it was usually said with a shrug, but here it wasn't so easily said.]
What does the Tooth Fairy do? [Teeth were involved somehow, and if they weren't, Korra would be pretty surprised.]
Re: Video; 100% Starkryption
That's all right, it's not something people spend a lot of time thinking about where I'm from either. We're from, sorry.
[ A fond look at the faerie; he'd need to take some getting used to referring to things like that in plural. He hadn't needed to since Bunny had left. He'd have rather let Baby Tooth explain the job but, Korra wouldn't be able to understand her. ]
Turns out-- and this is something I didn't know until recently too-- that your first set of teeth hold the important memories of your childhood. So when you lose each one the faeries collect them... you're supposed to put them under your pillow overnight, and they leave a gift like a coin... and they keep them all at the Tooth Palace. Every kid has their own little...
[ he gestures ]
Box, thing. I don't know what you're supposed to call it. They're pretty though.
Re: Video; 100% Starkryption
Wow. That’s really cool actually. I couldn’t have done much with any money though. [The Order of the White Lotus had pretty much isolated her from civilization for seventeen years in the compound, providing her with any necessities..]
Wait, spirits have palaces? [Korra gave a raised eyebrow at both of them, before settling her eyes on Jack and asking her next question in the most playfully accusing tone any one person could ever muster.]
Why didn’t you ever say you had a nice place like that?
Re: Video; 100% Starkryption
She says it's not always money but yeah, I get what you mean. It wouldn't have done much for me either.
[ HE opens his mouth, closes it and rubs the back of his head. ]
Well, the other Guardians all have their places... North has the Workshop at the Pole, Tooth has the Tooth Palace, Bunny has the Warren. Sandy has some kind of island, I think? I've never seen it.
I don't have anything like that. I have-- well, a pond. My pond, on the edge of Burgess.
Re: Video; 100% Starkryption
[The mention of the other Guardians reminded Korra of something Zatanna had said right before they went on their motorcycle ride. Something she made a mental note of to ask later.]
At least you can go swimming I guess? [Nope, wait.] It’d have to be frozen for you to even get in, huh?
[Smooth one Korra.]
Re: Video; 100% Starkryption
[ Awkward... even Baby Tooth is looking at Korra through the screen with a strange expression. ]
If the water's cool enough it doesn't bother me much but I don't really... do that much swimming.
Re: Video; 100% Starkryption
[Lips pursed, Korra raised her eyebrows and she looked from Baby Tooth, to Jack, and then off screen before her eyes widened a bit. It felt like something was amiss, but she had no idea what.]
Um, there was something I wanted to ask you about. What exactly is a Santa and Christmas, and why would I be waiting around for either of them?
[Not an ounce of sarcasm was in there, it was an honest question through and through. Because it made no sense when Zatanna said it, and it still didn’t make sense now.]
Re: Video; 100% Starkryption
[ He knows he's mentioned North before in casual conversation with her, though he's never gone into detail. ]
And Christmas is "his" holiday. On the night of December 24th, called Christmas Eve, he visits every child's house while they're sleeping and leaves them presents, and so the next day is called Christmas Day. Some kids wait all year for the chance to get a special gift from him.
Video; 100% Starkryption
So, kids from your world got gifts every year? [She scratched the back of her neck. Now she understood why Zatanna had asked that. It was definitely something she would have waited all year for if she could.]
Did you get something too?
Re: Video; 100% Starkryption
[ At her question he gives an uncertain shrug and a half-shake of his head. ]
Nah... I'm probably too old. And, you know... a fellow spirit now. And, I didn't have a house like you said, so. Nowhere to put a tree. I did try decorating a wild tree one year, but it didn't go so well.
[ a beat and then: ]
I mean, I probably did before when I was... younger. [ alive ] But I don't remember.
[ another pause ]
Huh. I wonder when he said held the record for the Naughty List if he was including back then too, or just since I became Jack Frost.
Re: Video; 100% Starkryption
That’s some nice magic. Guardians would have been great to have.
[She snickered at the thought of a tree decoration gone wrong. Not that she could have done any better. It would probably have just gone up in smoke by accident. Mention of a ‘naughty list’ got raised eyebrows, but something he said really grabbed her attention.]
You “became Jack Frost”? [That- What? She glanced over at Baby Tooth as if she might be able to chirp out an answer.]
Re: Video; 100% Starkryption
Oh, uh. It's not important right now, a story for another time, that sort of thing.
Re: Video; 100% Starkryption
Not for now anyway.]
Um, sure. Okay. I’ll be there with my catch tomorrow then.
Re: Video; 100% Starkryption
Okay, sounds good. And I'll have a proper store set up soon.
Video; 100% Starkryption
[She gave another small wave at Baby Tooth.]
