[1] Video
[After an evening of wandering around and searching for people, as well as answers about this place, Fran arrived at her suite wondering about something she'd been feeling ever since she arrived - and is still feeling, really.
So, why not ask the other people trapped here?
The video feed turns on, revealing a rabbit-eared woman. Her expression is neutral, though her ears twitch ever-so-slightly before she speaks.]
I am curious. Is anyone familiar with the nature of the... [Mist? No, not quite. But definitely something like it.] Magicks on this beast? Is it the tortoise that is the source, or something different? [Yeah, yeah, turtle, but it reminds her of the monsters back home, so she's calling it a tortoise.]
I am able to sense it as I can the mist, but... they are not so similar that I cannot feel a difference.
[Oh. She's forgetting something, isn't she?]
I am Fran, if anyone wishes to know.
It is... a strange sensation to be as sensitive to this as I am the mist. If anyone has an answer, I will be grateful - so long as it is more useful than the one the kedan offered. [It doesn't quite occur to her that only someone from Ivalice would understand what she means when she mentions the mist, but oh well.]

The magic... [His own handle on magic is extremely tenuous. A drawback of science-based powers, whaddaya know.] I actually don't know about magic specifically. All I know is that the turtle has some kind of life force that's connected to the powers of, er, anybody who has powers.

The turtle's life-force is indeed the source of the sorcerous energy that you term 'magicks', but as to how it does such a thing, I haven't the faintest idea.
It is quite curious that it is able to mimic many such energy sources with minimal aid.

So the creature is the source, then. [Good to know.] It is a strange to feel something so similar to the mist, although I do wonder if it has the same effects or not. [Not whether or not she can use magick, because she hasn't felt anything that indicates she can't, but if it will be able to affect her just as the mist could on Ivalice. Viera sensitivity, whoop.]

Still, he goes with audio so as not to be caught staring. He has manners.]
I'm not familiar with the term 'mist,' but if it is anything like energy inherent in the elements, then I do at least understand the sentiment to some degree. I only wish I were a theorist, but I slept through some of those classes.
[Derp.]

The source of the magick here feels... similar. It is odd.
video;
I don't know how it all works or anything, since I'm not magical or anything, at least not when it comes to casting spells. [What]
But your magic should work the same here as it does back home? I mean, it works that way for everyone else, I think.
video;
I should be able to cast spells as well here as anywhere else. [She hasn't felt any need to use any magicks, seeing as she hasn't been attacked since her arrival, but the not!mist here is strong enough that she knows she could cast a spell if she had to.]
My concern is with the source of the magick. It is not from my world, and it is not the same as the mist, yet I feel it just as strongly.
video;
Does the source matter all that much?

[Crisp, dry, and to the point.]
This mist that was on the world you formerly inhabited must have served a similar purpose if your sensitivities are still functional.
[Not even batting an eyelash at her appearance. Different species are rampant where he comes from.]
Would that be a racial component or one that you developed over time?
Video;
It is not just myself. Sensitivity to mist is something all viera possess. Others are unable to feel or notice, unless they are in areas where it is visible.
Video;
It may not be visible to us, but the head of the reptile gives off an overwhelming feeling. Yourself, on the other hand, may be able to see it. I have never been there.

I see you've found my partner, then, so introductions are no longer necessary.
She'll be staying with us awhile, I hope that won't inconvenience you.
[and if it does, he doesn't really care. Whoops.]
Video;
[Especially when he felt that he was coming so close to freeing his crew.]
No, it won't. I will leave any education on our current situation to you since you know each other.
[Less explanation hassle for him.]

Welcome to Keeliai, Fran. I'm not really knowledgeable when it comes to magic, but I know the differences between magic from people's homes and the stuff here can't be that bad, since people use it!

Which is why it's really bad when you lose your powers, because that means there's something wrong with the turtle.
[video]
You lose your abilities? Completely? [As in it's not the same as being unable to cast spells after draining one's mana?
Unless you have an ether handy.][video]
