[Hello, Turtle. Here is an Enjolras who looks a bit embarrassed that he's even started this late night/very early morning post, but well. The question he wants to ask IS actually a valid one, now that he has TIME to ask it, and he finds the current most popular phrases to be incredibly awkward or childish so..The hell with it. People have asked all sorts of questions here, haven't they? He's clearing his throat, flushing a little, then glancing into the vid directly and clearing his throat.]

A question, everyone.

I find that most of the current terms for one's...romantic friend...but more than such are either juvenile or not quite accurate. 'Boyfriend' for example, makes us sound as if we were children, 'Partner' has several connotations that do not immediately state the obvious and 'Lover' sounds particularly awkward.

[And well, they have not quite gotten to the lovers stage yet. Enjolras is hardly ready for it and still accustoming himself to the kissing and cuddling things that he never let himself seek out in life.]

When others here speak of the other piece of their soul as he is to me...what terms seem to work best for you?

[He considers the point.] You specifically set the condition that enough people wish to see it changed. Do you mean to say that if the majority is content, you would not advocate it?

[It's not questioning Enjolras so much as seeking to understand how he approaches matters of injustice.]

That IS another matter, but..I would see the minority protected to whatever end. The act of allowing the people themselves to make the decision, a majority of them, even if they disagree with the position I would have...

[Enjolras shakes his head, frowning more thoughtfully.]

Well, it would already be the matter of democracy, letting the people speak. But letting them truly speak, and not be cowed by fear... That is what I would wish for most of all.

I cannot speak for the others here. We haven't much of an official platform yet, but I would hope that the opinions of all can at least be expressed and heard and then decisions made.

Everyone has a right to that, and to influence how this world stands. Inherently. That it went against mine. I would simply have to adapt if it was so once everyone had spoken.

[He would not LIKE it but Enjolras would have to see it through, knows this, and is trying to accept it as an abstract idea. At least he knows that to be right, even if his emotions suggest otherwise. That IS something of a step, he thinks.]

[Richard considers what Enjolras has said. The minority must be protected, but all also must be heard and the majority must be respected. To sustain both of those, there is a logical conclusion.]

Do you hold, then, that certain rights are necessary, regardless of the opinions of the majority, that the minority may also be protected?

I do at that. Even those who did not agree with any of my own opinions, the things that I know to be true, must be protected in society. So long as it does not harm another, or impose on their free will, there must be some allowance for their voices to be heard and their contributions to be made. There is no way that a society may truly be equal, otherwise.
