[Hello, Turtle. Here is an Enjolras who looks a bit embarrassed that he's even started this late night/very early morning post, but well. The question he wants to ask IS actually a valid one, now that he has TIME to ask it, and he finds the current most popular phrases to be incredibly awkward or childish so..The hell with it. People have asked all sorts of questions here, haven't they? He's clearing his throat, flushing a little, then glancing into the vid directly and clearing his throat.]

A question, everyone.

I find that most of the current terms for one's...romantic friend...but more than such are either juvenile or not quite accurate. 'Boyfriend' for example, makes us sound as if we were children, 'Partner' has several connotations that do not immediately state the obvious and 'Lover' sounds particularly awkward.

[And well, they have not quite gotten to the lovers stage yet. Enjolras is hardly ready for it and still accustoming himself to the kissing and cuddling things that he never let himself seek out in life.]

When others here speak of the other piece of their soul as he is to me...what terms seem to work best for you?

[Sei is silent for a while, but the look he gives the camera, gives Enjolras, speaks volumes. It is a slow, bitter smile on the weary face of a man who knows damn well what idealism that is.]

I have been lucky,certainly. My mistress was kind to place me as she did.

I won't begrudge you her kindness. But it's a rare sort of thing, and not what occurs naturally, at least not for those who look as I do.

[He means the half-breed, mostly, although the hair does not...help.]

The world you come from seems quite cruel then. Ours is hardly so much better for some, but that is still wrong. The world CAN be better than we've faced though. That is what I've striven for, at any rate.

The world is only as good as the people in it. They are what allows it to be what it is...but a world is never simply 'good' or 'bad', it just is.

You can't have only one or the other, and despite so many efforts, I haven't seen much change in basic human nature.

[That's where he stops himself, remembering what this post was initially about.] ...I believe I've said more than enough for one night. My concerns aren't really yours, nor should they need to be.

And doubtlessly, I am not of much help.

[Enjolras is aware that it is flawed yes, and fundamentally so, but he also knows that humanity has the power to rise above such things, and bring about a real republic, governed by the truth and just. A universal republic if what he saw there in his mind's eye on the barricade was at all real. But again perhaps not in his world.]

[And Sei believes and knows in nothing but humanity finding ways to weaponize even the best of intentions, to say nothing of the worst. He won't tell Enjolras about the trenches, he won't tell him about the empty shallow hearts in that fabled land of the freedom. He won't tell him that people still starve and die and are tricked and pushed away from living happily by even the will of the people, because Enjolras has done nothing to deserve the history lesson, and Sei's bitter cynicism has limits to how casually cruel he can be.

Instead, he simply smiles tiredly, and reaches to turn off the feed.]
