Looking to gather some info. Please respond with succinct list of what you would consider unalterable laws of reality in your home dimension, e.g. gravity, conservation of mass, particular laws of magic.

Will attempt to compile results into meaningful commonalities across dimensions. Maybe there's a universal law somewhere.

Would prefer text response if possible. Thanks.

I'm trying to decide whether you don't believe what you saw or you don't want to believe it.

The latter. [He sounds faintly self-mocking and amused about it, not an unusual tone for him, if a bit more honest than normal.]

But I have to believe it. There's too much corroborating evidence. I just-- I don't know, I guess I thought the way things were was how they were going to be forever. [Even a relatively positive change was hard to swallow.]

[ He's quiet for a moment, but it is a private feed so he ventures. ]

I probably know the answer to this but... if you want to talk about it, I'd listen.

[Bruce has come a long way since the state he'd been in when he arrived, paranoid and untrusting and looking around every corner. Incredulous of any scrap of good fortune handed to him. For one thing, he can now believe that opening up won't be the end of things; won't necessarily predicate him being vulnerable, or turn into something he'll regret.

Jack in particular he's known long enough now that he can manage to dip his toes into the water of emotional honesty just a little, surprising even himself in the process.]

I don't remember how to be not alone, [he admits. Even more honest, he adds,] And I don't know if I want to be.

[ In an instant, Jack is glad this is an audio feed because the expression that crossed his face -- something between disbelief and appalled humour -- would surely have put Bruce off from ever mentioning something around him like that again. And yet, both carried the undercurrent of recognition... and that's what carries over when he speaks again. ]

Bet you didn't accuse them of bribery though.

I accused them of some other things, [he says dryly.] Which turned out to be right.

[A beat.]

Personal experience?

[ A soft laugh that almost could pass for merely an exhale. ]

Yeah, maybe a little. It's a good story, I'll tell you some time.

[ Easy, not pressuring, just letting Bruce know that Jack didn't propose it as a trade if the man wasn't comfortable with it. ]

[He knows it wasn't meant as a trade, which is what makes it easier to make the offer back, knowing it was totally his choice.]

Surprisingly... I think I wouldn't mind.

[ There's an enormity of that admission that Jack sees, feels even humbled by. ]

It's a tea date, then.

[It seems frivolous to be so private about something that's relatively common knowledge among so many here. Especially after Bruce had had so much exposed in Death, to the extent that it made talking about the creation of the Hulk seem trivial.]

How have you been keeping up with your meditation? Getting better with your dreams? I haven't checked in with you in a while.

[Admittedly it's something that makes very slow progress, so Bruce isn't sure much will have happened, but he feels compelled to ask. There's few people he'd ever want to 'catch up with', and it's a slightly unfamiliar feeling, but he doesn't shy away from it.]

[ Jack dipped his head even though it was a voice feed. ]

I have been and they haven't been so bad lately, only once in a while but I haven't been sleeping often lately either. Between the unit you put in my tree and the cooling harness that Damian made for me to wear, I haven't been getting overly warm and that was a big part of me being tired and sleeping so much.

Traci mentioned something... I was going to bring it up the next time.

[He takes in the update the same way he takes in most information: unflappably and with patient attention. He spares a moment to wonder at how much Jack actually needs to sleep, but dismisses the curiosity as irrelevant, perking with interest noticeably at the final comment.]

Yeah? I'm listening.

She thinks it might have something to do with the last Spirit of Winter.

I didn't know it worked like that. It's an inherited title?

I didn't know it worked like that at first. I don't-- kind of. Not really. It's hard to explain.

You mind if, maybe next time I stop by, I can just... you know, ramble at you about it? See if anything makes sense?

[Quietly,] Any time, Jack.

[Once Bruce accepts that someone does mean something to him, he places few limits on what they can ask from him.]
