[Two weeks on the turtle and Barry has, more or less, familiarized himself with the various locations and populations. He's gotten the majority of his initial questions answered and now it's just a matter of spending the rest of his free time - of which he has a lot - learning as much as he can about the situation on the turtle.

He's also discovered that Hal is somehow still incapable of taking care of himself without roping others into helping him. Hence this tiny PSA.]

If anyone's lent out money to a man named Hal Jordan and hasn't been paid back yet, feel free to stop by EA-2C and I'll make sure it gets back to you. Thanks for [not punching Hal's face in] helping him settle in. I appreciate it.

[He flashes a quick smile at the console before he clicks it off.]

[Kyle just gets a grin and a laugh at that.]

You can call me Mr. Allen if it'll make you feel better. I just wanted you to know you don't have to stand on formalities around me.

[He doesn't really give a damn if Kyle is Hal's predecessor or not. He's looking to be a good kid, and if Wally trusts him that's good enough for Barry.]

I'll stick with that for now. I called Ollie Mr. Queen for ages, but he made a point of emphasising seniority.

[The smile fades, just slightly. He and Ollie don't get along.]

[Good thing Barry and Ollie don't really get along that well either. Hal is the glue holding them all together.]

He makes a point of emphasizing a lot of things. [None of which Barry approves of.] The best thing to do with him most of the time as far as I'm concerned is to ignore him.

[In Kyle's case it's Hal and Connor. Roy, less so.]

[Exasperated:] You don't say.

Little hard when he's all up in your face and yelling at you non-stop. [shakes his head.] Luckily, I spend most of my time in space.

[Hal feels the need to stick up for his other best friend.]

That's just how he is, he's not a bad guy. It's not like everything he says is wrong anyway. He has some good points.

[Besides talking about Ollie is not talking about him taking budgeting lessons.]

[Flatly:] Well, he should make them without committing battery.

[Totally making fun of Ollie, tho. Punching him is one of Kyle's favourite pastimes.]

[Shrugging.] Sometimes you have to break a few rules.

You two are pretty similar so you should get along. Just give him a chance. [Hal has somehow missed the animosity between them.]

[Wha--]

[THE FLATTEST LOOK.]

It's not about rules, it's about not punching people.

[Just about ready to throw his hands up.]

And just so it's out there - he's the one who won't give me a chance.

[Talking to Ollie's biggest punching bag here.]

Yeah, he does that, but you get used to it.

Really? Did you litter when you first saw him or something because I find that hard to believe.

[There's a lot he wants to say about Oliver Queen, none of it for anyone else's ears. How much he's tried but Ollie's just too damn stubborn (like him), and how often he wishes things were better because of Connor. How the man's like a surrogate father - and Kyle's never had the best of relationships with his own. There's too much anger... Gabriel abandoned him. Ollie wasn't doing much better with his own kids.]

[And then there's the fact that he'll always have Ollie's back. Because that's what's done.]

Hal, [very wisely swallows, have you been living under a rock?] the man acts like I spend every waking moment kicking puppies.

[Barry's been occupied by answering everyone else over the console but, at the mention of kicking puppies, pops back in with a bemused smile on his face.]

You don't actually kick puppies, do you?

[The appropriate response probably would have been to comment on Ollie's behavior rather than the puppy kicking, but Barry's not sure he wants to pursue that line of conversation any longer than necessary, given the look on Kyle's face.]

[Kyle just gives him a Look but forces an equally bemused smile on his face. The last thing he needs is Barry Allen pissed at him.]

No. I don't litter, either, for the record.

[Not littering, no kicking puppies, there is literally no reason for Ollie to be pissed in Hal's opinion. Actually the whole space cop thing might, but it doesn't get him that worked up.]

Next time I see him I'll be sure to tell him to lay it off.

Defending my honour, Mr. Jordan?

[Working up to try and make light of this. Kyle can't deal with strong emotions, and not in public, too.]

[Him and every other adult male character. But as long as it's not about him, Hal is fine with this.]

You are the torch-bearer.

[As far as he's concerned, Kyle is one of the best things that has ever happened to the corps.]

[His eyes widen, and then, forgetting his usual insistence that he doesn't need approval from anybody, he smiles, bright and genuine.]

Tell him that.
