Because, if getting shoo'd away is going to be a common occurrence, I want to know about it so I can work around it.

I'd say it's a common enough occurrence in most places, but if you have the right credentials you can usually bypass it.

[So. Why are you getting shoo'd away?]

There are several officers that could vouch for me, but none of them are here.

They don't give them to seven year olds, you see.

Aren't seven year olds usually in school and more interested in comic books than crime scenes?

Most of them. But I lived at a detective agency with a famous detective.

I see. [Somewhat unusual circumstances, but he's not one to prioritize age over abilities and talent.] Did you spend most of your time helping out with detective work then?

[ Yes. All of them, all the cases Kogoro takes credit for were solved by him. ]

[On the one hand, Barry appreciates kids who put effort into problem solving. On the other hand, this kid is exactly that: only a kid at seven years old.]

And how often was that?

...Cases happen pretty frequently where I'm from-You'd be surprised how many people like to test their wits against a famous detective.

...I think there's at least three cases a month.

[So a decent amount of cases then. Multiplied by months and years and it's hardly anything to scoff at.]

People can be a little stiff sometimes when it comes to titles and certificates. [Though it sounds like the police here are real hardheads anyway, moreso than the ones back home.] What are the police here like anyway? You didn't seem to be too impressed by them earlier.

[Very descriptive, and also not exactly earning him brownie points.]

Why do you say that?

[glassesbrat]

Because you can't rule a case as suicide before examining all of the facts presented- namely that a left handed person is highly unlikely to cut their own throat left to right. It's more likely that they'll cut right to left.

[ It still irritates him just thinking about it. ]

[The irritation over the speakers is actually kind of amusing.]

If they're anything like the police force back home, they're more used to dealing with armed robberies than elaborate homicides. [Not necessarily a bad thing but also probably not overly helpful.] Is there only the main police force here or do they have other branches?

That doesn't excuse it. They're supposed to be trained to know the difference.

...The way they were talking, I would assume there are divisions.
