[Annabeth had every intention of making this as normal and casual as possible. But she was already vaguely grumpy (far from even okay yet, really), another friend is potentially gone, and she had to practically throw Percy into the living room to avoid using him as an extra cushion in front of the console. Not that any visual evidence is there, since she opts for audio. Still, her tone is abormally curt and flat and teetering on exhausted.]

So - I've been here over a year now, and I'm pretty sure the number of people who can say the same has dwindled. A lot. I'm just kind of wondering who else is... left. From the very start of this particular wave of the whole "Eshai summoning people" thing. [Wow ok sounding super annoyed at Eshai's general existence right now, too.] Gang wars, attempted executions, all that fun stuff. [y do u sound so blasé about all that.]

[There's a short stretch of silence, and her voice goes even more flat, a carefully constructed neutral.] And if - it's relevant, to people who knew her, I'm fairly certain Doctor Soranik Natu isn't... in Keeliai anymore. [since there's debate over what happens, exactly, to those who disappear, she can't really bring herself say 'went home'.] I had a meeting with her today, and she didn't show, nor was she at her suite. It's really unlike her. That kind of complete disappearance usually means one thing. [Which she's already implied and if you didn't pick up on that too bad!!!]

[And she's done. So uh AWKWARDLY AND ABRUPTLY ENDS THE FEED.]

Something tells me there isn't a single force of nature that is able to stop you but yourself, Annabeth. Should I tell Percy to make sure you get a couple hours of sleep a day?

[sophos]

[There's a grunt of frustration, and her response is out before she really thinks about it.] Only if you tell him to do the same.

[lol what is getting a good night's sleep lately.]

[The first part's true though she sort of takes that to heart pridefully.]

[And then, a slight filter. He can do better, but that's the filter he uses as Superman... so he'll simply be careful with what he says.]

I've been meaning to ask, has our friend from the mainland gotten in contact with you?

[She doesn't think about it; instantly, she just scrambles to up the encryption even further.]

[She hesitates for a second, but it's not like Clark doesn't know their connection already.] She came to see me a few months ago, when Asti was sick. But that's the last time I spoke with her.

[A hum as he reaches to scratch his chin. He hasn't talked about Eva on the radio for obvious reasons, and he plans on keeping it that way- but he's still curious. She's probably their only way to get unbiased information.]

Do you have any way of knowing if she's alright?

[Annabeth has a ways of contacting Eva, but there are only a handful of people who know that. She's not all that interested in adding to the numbers right now.]

She's resourceful, lasting that long on the mainland alone? I'm pretty sure she's fine. [Casually evading the answer, check one.]

[You can't fool a reporter by avoiding a direct question, and particularly not one who learned from Miss Lane herself... but he's not going to push it. He knows Annabeth enough to know that if she's hiding something there must be a reason for it.

So he just gives her a nod and a half-smile.] Alright then, but I'd still like to know she's alright if you get the chance to talk to her? You don't have to tell me what you talked about, but- well. She might have lasted this long, but you never know.
