[ Finding out that Pepper's stocks in Stark Industries have been transferred to him - and because she'd been running it, he can only assume that it's the lion's share - and that that means she's presumably gone is not the way he wants to start the day. But it is what it is and there's nothing he can do about it.
He's wearing the suit, though the helmet's off, and the expression on his face is as professionally detached as the matter-of-fact tone of his voice when he speaks. ]
It's come to my attention that Pepper Potts may no longer be in residence in the city.
[ That covers that and he's not lingering on it. If he does, he'll wonder what that means, if some piece of her has gone back to the world she remembers or if she's dead and her body is being recycled or whatever it is they do with clones when they're gone. It isn't something he needs to worry about right now. Not in front of an audience. So he moves right along to business. ]

[That was...surprisingly sudden. Not necessarily bad though, even if calling both Tonys Tony is going to end up a little confusing on his part. But okay, he can roll with it for now.
As for that second question...Scott tilts his head. Shrugs a little.]
Mostly maintenance and upkeep. Help make sure what everyone else is working on keeps working. [So basically, a gopher.] I used to help design security systems for the Avengers back home but [and here there's another casual shrug] there's not much need for that here.

Avengers? So that means you're from one of these other universes? The Avengers I know are still at the "sort vaguely in the same kind of vicinity sometimes and we all know each other's names mostly" stage.

I like to think we're all past that stage where I come from. They've been around awhile, done a lot of good things. [Scott has a lot of respect for his former teammates.] I don't really keep in touch with them anymore though.

[The reply's immediate, and Scott's actually perking up a little at the chance to stretch his brain muscles on projects a little bigger and more exciting than air-conditioned tribble cages.]

Some kind of identity recognition if you can swing it with the tech available here. As it is, it's too easy for someone who isn't authorized to be in the building at all to go wherever they want. I want to change that. We're working on, or we're going to be, some highly sensitive projects and I don't want someone wandering in off the street and disrupting anything. Or getting hurt.
[ It's a company, not a coffee shop or a museum. Maybe everyone here has a relaxed attitude toward the comings and goings of others, but the fact remains that they've all been abducted. Or cloned. And he's been killed. Lax security isn't an option anymore. ]
Some areas should be open to visitors, but I'd like others to be off-limits without having to put an army of security guards on payroll.

He doesn't answer immediately after Tony finishes listing his qualifications, mind already starting to come up with whisps of designs here and there.]
Should be doable, though it might take a few days to round up everything. [Speaking of days:] You have a date you'd like this done by, or any budget considerations?

[ And everyone else isn't quite the level of workaholic that he is. He doesn't expect anyone to eschew food and sleep for days on end to get a project completed. ]
Budget's not an issue. Obviously don't go out and buy the seven hundred juulan pens to draft up the schematics, but security's worth every not-penny spent.

[Pens, paper...the trashcan next to his desk is overflowing with designs he's brainstormed and then rejected. But hmm, alright. That takes some of the weight off his back. He's always had to make do with a somewhat limited budget, especially in recent years, so he's confident he won't end up spending too much of (this) Tony's hard-earned juulan.]
But I'll draft something up in the next few days, both a list of supplies and a design. Run it past you, or someone else in charge. I'll need a list of authorized personnel eventually but that can probably wait for now.
