[ Finding out that Pepper's stocks in Stark Industries have been transferred to him - and because she'd been running it, he can only assume that it's the lion's share - and that that means she's presumably gone is not the way he wants to start the day. But it is what it is and there's nothing he can do about it.
He's wearing the suit, though the helmet's off, and the expression on his face is as professionally detached as the matter-of-fact tone of his voice when he speaks. ]
It's come to my attention that Pepper Potts may no longer be in residence in the city.
[ That covers that and he's not lingering on it. If he does, he'll wonder what that means, if some piece of her has gone back to the world she remembers or if she's dead and her body is being recycled or whatever it is they do with clones when they're gone. It isn't something he needs to worry about right now. Not in front of an audience. So he moves right along to business. ]

[There is so much belief and trust in that voice, so much. But there's not exactly anything he can really do or say about this whole thing. He and Tony aren't as close as they used to be, and he doesn't know this kid at all, so really he's got almost no ground to stand on.]

He'd been thinking he could work up anyone that would defend Iron Man into a tizzy. ] Very well then. You did say the magic word.

I'm a dad and a full-time babysitter of ten kids. I know pretty much every trick there is in the book. [Maybe not god tricks but all the other ones...!] Paternalistic is all I'm good for.

[ He's had to babysit a horde of children before. Well, no, not him, but he'd been watching when another incarnation of himself had done so. It was still enough to give him the willies. ]

[Here his smile fades the the memory of how he'd originally been assigned the role of babysitter. He had thought he'd been insane back then, to agree to Reed's proposition and place himself in such a ludicrous position.]
But then again, we're all a little crazy inside.
