[Hayley shrugs, then realizes he can't see it. Her voice is intentionally nonchalant.]

Well, obviously. Going all "hey guys, 'member that time I got beat to death?" isn't exactly on my To Do List today. Or ever. But there's people here - like Supes - that I could've sworn would have posted something warning everyone by now. You're not some sort of uber-detective, are you?

[The feed catches the tail end of a sigh, and then a few seconds of silence. If someone told him that they were sorry, he'd want to sock them in the jaw, but that's the instinctual reaction. Of course he's sorry that she died; Bart would be sorry if anyone died. He can't just walk away from a statement like that because he doesn't know what to say.]

At least now everyone'll have their eyes open. [And someone will catch the guy, maybe she'll be able to have some closure.]

Are you OK now? Physically. [He's rolling with the assumption that she's Not OK mentally.] Do you need to go to the clinic? Do you have somewhere safe to stay?

[She appreciates him sparing her the sympathy and moving on to the practicality. It helps.]

I'm as good as new. [There's the smallest hint of humor in it, because she's pretty sure she's a clone of herself, which is a whole other issue to tackle. At the latter, she's a hint defensive. She's looking for somewhere, but she hates admitting to feeling unsafe in general.]

And.. I'm fine where I am.

[Hur. Hur. They're all clones here. It's not very funny, though, and he doesn't laugh. He's just glad she's okay - and afraid to ask what happened.

If you say so. But my old place is sitting empty across the street. Lord lives in the building, but if he decides he wants to build body-possessing robots, how close you are probably won't matter. Even less appealing option: crashing with me and Tim. He's got extra room, but nobody wants to put up with Felix and Oscar.

Hmmm. [Hayley feigns a thoughtful noise before replying with much more sincere apathy.] A stranger's empty suite instead of my own.. or staying with two teenage boys, including one I've never met.

Yeah, I know it sounds creepy and terrible, but you didn't say who did it. Kinda guessing you don't know. So it's a standing offer, cause they might know where your place is. [She tries to keep the anger from her tone, knowing it's misplaced, but her voice is still edged with her frustration at first. After the briefest of sighs, she sounds simply weary again.]

Hayley has three jobs and few know where her actual suite is; she's not too worried about being too busy to remember to keep in touch, but she can't deny the appeal of more people looking out for her. Especially after this.]

Maybe you should. I try to. You never know who's gonna turn up. Almost everybody seems cool, but. Not all of 'em. What if someone turns up from your world and you're the only one who'd know they're psycho?

Anyway. If you did pay attention, you'd know from the first time I posted that I'm pretty quick. I'm kinda redefining the term there. We're talking millions of mph. Size doesn't equal strength, power, or training around here. So. Maybe less with the book by its cover routine?
