As some of you may know, I was hired to find the person responsible for multiple killings in September, along with an attempted homicide. That person has now killed the Emperor. [ There's a flash of something like remorse, but it only lasts a second before her jaw tightens. There's no time to feel guilty for not catching the person sooner. She has to stop him now, before he kills again. ]

I have a list of suspects. I've narrowed it down significantly. If you were one of the people I talked to about it, please see me immediately.

[It is well past nightfall when Temeraire appears on the network, his expression exhausted and his posture hunched.

He has spent the bulk of the day flying, trying to dull his--well, it cannot be called grief, when he did not know the Emperor well enough for that, but it must be something close, surely. One cannot win wars without a few losses of one's own, but this is a price unfairly paid: something stolen and not captured on the field of combat. It is the gravest offense imaginable, for a dragon, and there is as much rumbling anger in his voice as there is sorrow when he speaks.]

Given recent events, there is little point in delaying the matter any longer. I do not know what form our enemy will take when it comes to us, but we must be prepared for any possibility, especially now that Eshai's power can no longer keep it at bay.

To that end, I am announcing the formation of the Keeliai Aerial Corps. There is little point in formation-flying when we cannot predict our enemy's movements, but at the very least those of us who can fly must grow used to flying together, and those of us who can fight must be prepared to do so under any circumstances.

Pray provide your name if you are interested; we will meet once a week at the very least, for target-practice and drills, and we might discuss tactics, and new technologies, as well.

If it brings an army with it, we will at least not be caught unawares.

[A broad smile is on Korra’s face when she turns on the video feed. She’s leaning to one side of the chair and looking pleased as punch.]

I’ll be reopening the dojo in the Wood Sector and I need some teachers, mentors, instructors- whatever you want to call yourselves, to teach people that want to learn. Any fighting style will do, but if it’s martial arts; then all the better.

If you’re interested in lessons, get in touch with me here or privately. I don't know how much lessons are going to be yet, but I'll try to keep it low.

[There's a pause where Korra considers her next words and her smile fades a little.]

If you're half as good as Dinah Lance is [Not was.] then I need to talk you.

[Four months of training with Dinah isn't enough for Korra. She wants to dig in further into the various styles she was mastering, and this is the only way she knows of to find someone that can help her do just that.]

[Clara has still been under the weather the past few days and so she's been avoiding the network even more than usual. But now she something to say. She turns the video on, coughs, then clears her throat before speaking.]

Hullo. Clara, by the way, if you don't know. Been stuck inside with a nasty cold for the past few days so I've been doing a lot of reading. Well, more reading than usual. And so I've finished with the third read through of all the books I've managed to recover here.

[She gestures to a pile next to her. There's 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, The Little Prince, Pride and Prejudice along with a few other Austin novels, and Canturbury Tales. All of them have significant wear.]

So I was thinking and had a clever thought. Plenty of people I've talked to are also quite into reading and I do imagine we're in the same miserably situation of having only a few books in English or otherwise Earth languages. Like I said, I'm on the third go for mine.

But if we all exchanged books that we had we had with each other, we'd be able to actually read something new and not just go for repeated viewings. Even I'm getting a bit bored these and they're my favorites. Might be able to get in a few new good reads. We could even lend out books to anyone who doesn't have any.

Spread a bit of literature about, get some new books to shove our noses in, it's a brilliant plan if you ask me. And not just because I thought of it.

[She grins but then coughs and sniffs before biting her lip. Like she's unsure about if she actually wants to say what she has to say next.]

And if you haven't heard, the Doctor, the funny one with the bowtie, has left the turtle. Won't find him anywhere.

[She shakes her head before looking back up at the screen. It's clear that it was something that she felt had to be said,]

So English or other earth language book owners, give me a ring. Let's discuss each other's collections. Make a few swaps. Maybe we'll even make it a club.

[ Donna is dressed for work still, her hair done up and everything. But despite the work clothes, she seems happy. She smiles as the feed comes up and flicks some of her hair over a shoulder. ] Okay. This is just an off-the-wall idea.

I know we've got a lot of people here who aren't from Earth, and a lot who have traveled in space and time and with the Doctor and all.

So I was thinking. Would you lot be interested in getting together sometime? Like a club. I never got to find out as much about space as I wanted, and I'd love to hear stories and such.

[ Her smiles disappears in a flash. ] And no Doctors allowed. People aren't going to talk about you as much as I want them to if you're right there listening.

[The console turns on to the sight of Teddy's anxious face and in the background the viewer can just make out the shape of a giant egg laying in a pile of blankets on the floor.]

I'm calling all turtle egg parents here. I'm a new...,uh parent I guess. Man that is really strange to say. This is my first time taking care of the egg by myself. I guess I was just wondering what are some of the ways you other egg parents take care of your egg. Like, do you ever leave your apartment? Because I have to admit the idea of walking around out there with the egg is kind of intimidating.

So...yeah. Help? Please?

[Teddy scoots in closer.]

I have another question for you guys, and this one probably applies to a wider group of people here. I know that a lot of people here have powers or special abilities that are unique to them. That's probably old news to everyone, right? What I'm interested in knowing is what kind of powers or abilities does everyone have? Think of it as a kind of survey. It might become useful in the future to know that we have twelve magic users and only two telepaths or whatever. [If not it will certainly satisfy Teddy's geeky need to categorize as many new heroes and their abilities as possible in his head. He's definitely missing Wikipedia right about now.]

You don't have to give your name if that makes you uncomfortable. Feel free to reply with an anonymous text if you want. To start things off, I'll go first. My main talent is shape-shifting. But I also have some other handy abilities like super-strength and a healing factor. [The anonymous text idea is really for people who want to keep their established secret identity a secret. Teddy feels more comfortable being open about his identity here where he's surrounded by other people with powers, but he knows there are probably others who don't feel the same.]

So. I was here before. But...then I wasn't? I was here, but I left, and now I'm back again.

Typical timey wimey stuff, then. Same as always. Even without the Doctor around, it always seems to happen. Which is just great. Really, it is.

[It's been awhile since Bianca's made a network post, but here she is again.]

This is going to be on the long side, but I have a few announcements regarding the clinic to make, and then something regarding Thanksgiving. [If the clinic info doesn't keep people's attention, the thought of food certainly will.]

First off, the kedan are expecting winter weather and cold temperatures to hit us soon, and the Dr. Natu clinic [Even if Soranik isn't here anymore, it makes sense to keep calling it that] received vouchers for warm clothing. If you don't have the funds to purchase winter clothing like coats, especially if you're a new arrival, stop by our clinic here in Earth, [Directions to the building here, with a location ping] and pick one up.

Ours isn't the only clinic to get these vouchers, so if there's one closer to you, you don't need to make your way out here.

Second, once a week from this point onward, we're also going to be offering classes on basic first aid, what to do in case of medical emergencies, and general health classes, among others. These are open to everyone, including the kedan, and while we'll be charging for each class, it's to help fund the clinic and to pay for the supplies for the basic first aid classes. If you don't have any experience with first aid, I heavily suggest signing up, since we'll also be including a first aid kit with the first aid classes.

We'll also be having a full staff day on these same days. If you haven't had a physical or checkup recently, the full staff days would be the best time to get one, especially with cold weather approaching.

Finally, on a more personal note, since we had Halloween about a week ago, [Even if that went badly with all the disappearances going on] for a lot of us, that means that Thanksgiving is a few weeks away. I know not everyone celebrates it, and that not everyone has family or friends from where they came from here with them, but I want to invite everyone here to EA-1A for Thanksgiving dinner in three weeks if they want to join Jaime and me, and you don't have other plans.

If you decide to come, feel more than free to bring something along with you if you like for the table.

[Anyone who has CR with Jaime or Bianca would be getting a personal invite delivered in person for this by Jaime.]

[OOC:Most of the clinic information, besides the cold weather voucher bit, can be found here.

The forward dated Thanksgiving log can be found here.

Hi. My name’s. Korra. I’m the Avatar.

Some of you may know me, I guess?

[Guh, she hates trying to cover it and just tackles the heart of the message.]

Look. I can’t remember anything since I was ghosted. [Or whatever the hell people are calling it.] Not this city, this turtle, or anyone.

But a doctor said that if I just hang around familiar things and people, even scents, then it might help me remember some things. I just, can’t force myself to remember them. So if you recognize me or know something else that could help I’d be grateful.

[When he turns on the feed, Sep’s green eyes are thoughtful—and maybe, if you look carefully, a little tired. Still, he’s seems alert enough despite it.]

I would have waited until we got some new arrivals again to talk about this, but under the circumstances, this won't keep. For those who don’t know me, I’m Sep. I work as a healer out of WA-3A.

I didn’t get a chance to talk to Soranik directly before she left us, but there has been some discussion going around about organizing our resources and medics into a larger functioning entity, hopefully by building a proper hospital. If nothing else, we ought to coordinate our relative strengths and talents, in case someone else is best suited to treat a patient—or for triage in case of emergency. It would also provide us a good base to teach and organize less experienced field medics in case of crises like the jiangshi invasion last winter.

Information and technique exchange is part and parcel of this, although I know not all of it is applicable to all of us. It’s past time we got organized, though—especially so there’s infrastructure in place no matter who arrives or leaves.

[He relaxes the further into the post he gets, some of the tension draining from his shoulders. This is the role he’s most comfortable in: getting people organized to support each other and keep things running smoothly.]

There’ll be a meeting at my suite tomorrow. Everyone already working in a clinic should drop by for basic information exchange. If you’re a medic not currently attached to a facility and want to be, we'll get you sorted.

[Basic encryption to Bianca Reyes]
It was indicated that questions about Dr. Natu’s clinic should be directed to you, ma’am. If you’ve got a free moment, could we sit down today? I’d appreciate a basic run-down, just so I have a better understanding when talking to others who work more like you do. [He admitted a weakness, Bianca, this is a milestone.]

[It's video, so it's clear that Dorian looks the same. Still the bright roses of youth on his cheek, still the crisp dark curls on his head. The candour of youth in his face, and 'youth's passionate purity' in his smile. To look at him, you'd think he had kept himself unspotted from the world—even if all that the blue smoke around him is from one of Lord Henry's opium-tainted cigarettes.

But that is the visual half of things. As for the audio half?]

1986. The summer. [For audio, there is something torn in that low and musical voice, something of electrohouse's wretched distortion ripping the guts out of the base and leaving the jagged beat in its wake.

Dorian laughs.]
It was 1986, it was the summer, and Highlander came out for UK audiences. Crooned over scenes of loss, Freddie Mercury asks a question he'll never need to answer: "Who wants to live forever?" [The cigarette held away, conductor holding the note to let the question hang.]

[And callously, we're back.] Contemporary efforts in medicine might suggest 'just about everyone,' but in stories about immortals, the weariness is always more loss of people than loss of time. It's more that you're watching your granddaughter's funeral than it is that the shop beside the graveyard is a chain electronics place instead of the private member's club where you met her grandmother decades ago.

[Another drag of the cigarette. He is still smiling a pleasant, youthful smile.] But it occurred to me, speaking with Rebecca, that that sense of loss, of friendships brief as mayfly lives, is one we all get to share here. It's not a curse of immortality, something known only in a long term. It's frequent, repetitive, and to all intents and purposes, mundane. We foreigners just lose people, over and over and over and over, and there is never any resolution to any of it. Like the workroom of a perfectionist, it's a slaughterhouse of unfinished stories, and the corpses just keep piling up. Only corpses would give more closure than disappearances, and we aren't likely to be here ourselves by the time we can hold a funeral.

So we get used to it. We cope and we carry on. [Cigarette between his fingers, he gives a salute that somehow doesn't come across as sarcastic.] Congratulations on all the recent efforts, and good luck to everyone still with us in the future.

[Dorian holds up a mobile phone (circa 2007) with all lightness of touch and tone.] Does anyone have anything to for a mobile's battery? I left the charger in the 21st century, and I'd like to get my music off of this, but it gave out.
