[What's up turtle, have Raleigh looking...well. Looking more masculine. Considerably more as a matter of fact.]

...It's past time I started looking for work. Like a lot. I worked construction. [he nods and smiles] For a good five years.

I have military experience too but that's sort of a moot point here. I mean at least as far as I can gather.

I'm a quick study. If that matters.

[He nods] Thanks for any offers.

You up for a late dinner?

[He doesn't ask, but he knows she'll say yes. She's a good kid. He likes having someone around who gets the excesses, gets how people can sometimes be weird here. Gets how weird it is to just...not be doing anything sometimes.

So he's got his feet up at their late night noodle joint, running his fingers through his hair. Worried.]

I'm talking about the turtle. The turtle is what ... [He shakes his head] Not bothers.

[Bucky's quiet for a moment, then.]

You're here since recently, right? Anyone told you yet what happened when the turtle was close to dying?

[goingfishing]

...No. Tell me.

[Raleigh leans forward.] It's hard to follow.

[trainwrecked]

Right.

[Bucky's face darkens, not in anger but in the bad-memory kind of way.]

See, life here comes from the turtle. And that sounds pretty fancy and weird, but when you see plants wither and die, and animals grow weak, and people whose powers keep them healthy get sick just because the turtle is close to dying?

Yeah, it kinda gets you to see how literal it is.

'cause that's what we got. The turtle was - under attack, let's say, and his health was bad. Real bad. He couldn't swim much, sank some. And things started wasting. And people who have special abilities here? Like, some people can fly, others are super strong or super fast, and there's even a rock guy? Well, they didn't have them, anymore. So the rock guy, I heard, didn't have the strength to move around. We got rationing, and then we wore close to starving, before some of us sent on clues available to try and stop it.

From what I heard, there was stuff being done against the turtle in the Death plane.

... all right, that might be a bit much, but you said to tell ya. Start on me with questions you have about things where I lost you?

[goingfishing]

...We're living like parasites on this thing. [Raleigh's voice is flat. He's seen Kaiju parasites. He's seen them.

His lips press together] We're tied into it's life force.

[Oh wait this is supposed to be a question.] Right?

[trainwrecked]

[Bucky's eyebrows shoot up. He's been in the mines, he knows of the sewers in the great turtle's shell.]

[But...]

[He frowns, remembering what he's seen over the network about people whom Tu Vishan has visited in dreams.]

He wants us here.

I think you can find somebody who can tell you more, but from what I've gathered, he can make sure we're off, if he wants to. I mean, energy comes from him, and he can control it - it'd be simple to just take off the protective bubble and dive.

[Beat.]

... he's visited people in dreams. From what I've heard, he wants us here, and cares to protect us. That'd... still be parasites, I guess, but not unwelcome ones. And not harmful. Other than the problematic one, obviously.

[goingfishing]

I don't like thinking of myself as something...inhuman. [he sighs] You have to understand...

[He sighs] Did I mention the Kaiju yet.

[trainwrecked]

Why'd you be inhuman? From what I gather that's how life works, here. Big turtles're a sort of life - a buncha them stick together and make continents. That people and animals and plants live on. Different from home, but, hey, I can't judge.

[Bucky shakes his head.]

Not really, not where I've heard it.
