[What's up turtle, have Raleigh looking...well. Looking more masculine. Considerably more as a matter of fact.]

...It's past time I started looking for work. Like a lot. I worked construction. [he nods and smiles] For a good five years.

I have military experience too but that's sort of a moot point here. I mean at least as far as I can gather.

I'm a quick study. If that matters.

[He nods] Thanks for any offers.

You up for a late dinner?

[He doesn't ask, but he knows she'll say yes. She's a good kid. He likes having someone around who gets the excesses, gets how people can sometimes be weird here. Gets how weird it is to just...not be doing anything sometimes.

So he's got his feet up at their late night noodle joint, running his fingers through his hair. Worried.]

[Her only reply is a single sentence, one sent with a smile before she shuts off her video feed and heads towards the restaurant.]

[She shows up about ten minutes later, settling across from him with a grin.]

I'm starting to really like this routine we seem to have.

[A lot. She likes it a lot. It's normal. She doesn't get a lot of normal back home. Unless it's totally normal to teach 12 year old kids how to use guns against the undead, which she's pretty sure isn't how things should be..]

[Raleigh reaches for his drink.] Me too. It's comfortable and nice to have someone to talk to you know?

Exactly. That's probably the only thing about home that I miss.

[Everything else can stay where the heck it is.]

It's going. I'm painting a new sign for work and I met one of my co-workers. She's pretty cool. She has a giant animal that's apparently called a polar bear dog back home. And yes, it's exactly what it sounds like.

[She takes a moment to order her own drink when the server comes over, all smiles and manners. Typical for her. She turns her full attention back to Raleigh.]

What about you?

Sitting still. [Raleigh scratches the back of his neck before lowering his gaze.] I hate sitting still. I need to get out more.

[grigio]

You could always come bother me at work. [She rests her elbow on the table, her chin in her hand.] I wouldn't say no to that.

[She understands that feeling, though. Sitting still gets so bothersome so fast, especially when the world is much bigger than what a person sees when they don't do much of anything.]

I was thinking of just wandering around the Turtle on my next day off, just to see what there is around here.

[A slight tilt of her head.] You want to come with me?

I'd like that. [Raleigh reaches for his tea.] Take a look at some of the other sectors. IF the job hunt permits.

[He sighs] should have done it weeks ago.

[Julie lets out an amused 'hmm', saying a quick thank you to the waiter as he drops her water off. She's keeping it mild today.]

To be fair, you did look like you'd been in a fight before arriving. You needed recovery time.

I was in a fight with a kaiju. Bigger and nastier then the undead. [He still feels bad about that. Still. His hands find his own drink and he shakes his head]

...not that the undead aren't nasty. Don't get me wrong about that okay?

[Julie's theory is everyone has their own version of Hell. And each one is just as horrible as the last. So she doesn't say anything. Just reaches to pat his hand for a second.

She gets it, Raleigh. He knows that, right?]

So what noodles are you ordering?

[She's not being dismissive. Julie sees where he's coming from as best as she can. She just feels like they'd be better off with a change in subject.]

Some day, we should come in here and order a few different kinds of noodles and whatever else they have, and just try everything.

I mean, my principal job around here has been painting walls and fences and such, but sometimes things happen...

Sometimes things happen when it might be very good to have it. And things where you might need every last scrap of it, too.

Hey, we had jiangshi - they're kind of... corpses that turn people they attack into corpses like them - and kind-of ghosts or spirits that possessed people. I think 'unique' can work, when you come right down to it.

And, sure. People're always hiring for physical work, even if the adverts on that rarely go on the network. I mean, a couple of times, they have, but. [Bucky shrugs.] Not for a steady living. The kedan, though? Unless something's wrong, they'll take whoever'll get the job done.

I think you'll be fine, if you don't find somethin' else that suits you. I think... both Stark and Wayne do some construction, off and on.

[Raleigh's lips press together] It doesn't seem like a good idea to ask for things from them.

Let's see. [Bucky's voice is steady, but just a little dry.] We're brought here, supposedly to rescue them. We're given spacious suites, and, when we die, we're brought back. And they aren't.

But the threat is still here, but some of us have been around for a year or so.

Most of them treat us, most of the time, pretty damn fine. The only time it was bad was when there was rationing because the turtle was sick, and then there were complicating circumstances, really.

[He takes a sharp breath, then manages a smile again.]

Sorry. I don't think it's a good idea to make things tenser and more suspicious than they have to be. Make sense?

...Maybe I'm just naturally a little nervous when it comes to giant monsters. [Does that sound uneasy? oh yeah]

[The network isn't Korra's favorite thing to use, especially since it tends to get her in trouble more often than not, but she remembered how hard it was for her to find a job until Finnick hired her.]

After a few moments, she just draws a total blank.]

Well, I don’t recognize you. But I’m Korra, maybe you’ve been to the Lantern clinic in the Earth Sector or at the Brazen Turtle? I work at both.

[That was something she makes a mental note of, try to place his face somewhere.]

But yeah, if you’re looking for a construction job and have experience, then you should try Wayne Enterprises. My friend Mark is a foreman there and he might be looking for extra help.

I have no idea, my main job is fishing. I think Wayne Enterprises does both construction and demolition, but I’m not sure.
