[Eshai looks, for lack of a better word, like hell. She's been holed up in her palace, but oh, she has not been idle, and the dark bruises beneath her eyes tell a story of sleepless nights and candles burnt at both ends. Her elbows are braced on the desk, and the style of her clothing is very much severe and lacking in ornamentation, her sleeves are rolled to her biceps.
She gives the camera a glare, and then reaches up to tuck a wisp of graying hair behind one ear.]
I've expanded and strengthened the barrier. I don't yet have the exact dimensions, so if anyone who can fly or swim would like to do some exploring for me, I would consider it very much a-- [her mouth ticks into a firm, unhappy frown] -- personal favour. It should extend down to the ocean floor, and upwards nearly to the mesosphere. Outward directions are where I lack the most data, but any measurements are helpful.
I will not mince words. Our enemy has gained a foothold in Keeliai. It's my hope that this will keep it at bay a while longer. Additionally, this will allow us greater access to the mainland areas we come in contact with. Asti, [Her expression shows her displeasure at the populace now knowing and freely using that name.] is headed for colder waters, but with the increased scope of the barrier, we'll be seeing land more often. Those of you who can fly, or design mechanical boats or flying crafts, you should be on the lookout for any opportunities. With the creature freed, and wreaking havoc among the realm of Life, you can expect to see war and destruction wherever we make contact with the outside. Be prepared for it.
[Someone off screen hands her a cup of something that steams faintly, she takes it with a nod of thanks, but does not drink.]
As I'm certain some of you've been whispering about in dark corners, no. You are not the first group of individuals I've brought to Keeliai. The kedan were the first, that was centuries ago. There have been other sets of heroes. The last time was when Sinbrilee sank, and I thought...
[Her brow creases. She takes a drink, now, of that steaming beverage.]
Perhaps the enemy was defeated at that time. Eighteen months ago, I was proven incorrect. You may not be here because you want to be or would otherwise choose to be, but the enemy will not stop with Konryu. It has tarried here, because the life energy provided by the Great Turtles satiates it like nothing ever has. It wants Asti, but once it's killed him, it will move on to other worlds. Across the fabric of space and time, it will come to where each of you live in turn. It may be centuries before you're born, or millennia after you've died, but it will come. You want to know why you're here? That's why. We are making a stand. I have done my best to keep you safe, but believe me when I say your lives are insignificant compared to Asti's, and if what it takes to stop our enemy is the blood sacrifice of each and every one of you, I will do it unflinching.
But if you survive, by some miracle, I have put certain... failsafes in place, that will send each of you home. This assumes that I do not survive the coming battle. Should I, I will return each of you to your homeworlds personally. You have my word. If we all die, well. It renders the consideration moot. Bodies are in rather short supply after the destruction of our cloning facilities, so to those of you assuming recklessness is the answer, consider this. When you die here, it falls to me to anchor your soul and bring you back. And there are those among you that have done little to endear yourselves to me. Sell your lives dearly if you must, but do not be fools.
And for the love of turtles, if any of you so much as think to ask me the same useless million questions because you cannot think to collaborate or share your knowledge, I will keelhaul those responsible. I trust we understand one another.
[IC ADDENDUM]
I was reminded, the barriers will now glow the nearer you get to them. It benefits all of us if no one manages to drown. The colour will be different for everyone, so be on the lookout for it.
[ooc note: The barrier is now roughly fifty miles out horizontally, so feel free to ICly shuck that knowledge around]
