[Aisling seems to finally understand how to work the console. Sort of. She's actually sitting on the console table with her knees up to her chest and her hair wrapped around herself like a blanket. But at least she knows where the camera is and where to look.]

It smells like a storm, doesn't it? I wonder how well a turtle will do in a great storm? I've seen the kedan outside, all rushing about. Well...the trees tell me that storms come and go here, as storms do. I am not very concerned.

[She heaves an impressive sigh and props her chin on her hands.] Still, I am more than ready to return to my own forest. The trees here are so difficult to talk to. As closed-off as the kedan are.

[She's silent for long enough that it almost seems she's forgotten the camera is on. Then she looks up again.]

What do all of you miss the most from your homes?

Even if it's inconvenient for us. [ One-shoulder shrug. He's a bit worried about damage to the city, but the turtle itself will probably be fine, it's bigger than a WEAPON. More important to reassure the little kid. ]

I miss my friends. [ He doesn't have many possessions to miss. ]

I wonder. The turtle is impossible to talk to, but he reminds me of a very old tree, the kind that has gone to sleep. An old tree doesn't think about the world around it or worry about small things like storms. Nor does it worry about the insects crawling along its bark.

...I miss my friends, too.

Of course. Not very many of them, here, but enough. Some of the trees and plants are too unfamiliar, and I do not understand their language.

Most of us speak different languages, but somehow our minds automatically translate the language that the other person speaking while in here.

The fact that it doesn't work with trees for you could be meaningful.

It's like a portable version of the console computers here. You can use it to make voice or video calls to someone directly. You can also check the Internet-- sort of like the network here but much, much bigger. Oh, and most of them have cameras to take photos and videos. And it's all totally wireless.
