Hello Keeliai. I am Shockwave. Jor-El [A gesture to the man standing to Shockwave’s left] and I wish to announce the creation of Wayne Enterprise’s Science Division in the Metal Sector.

It has been in the process of being readied for some time [the equipment they felt needed wasn’t on the turtle; it took time to build the tools needed to build more advanced equipment] but now we feel it is sufficiently equipped to bring others on.

Everyone is welcome if you have even the slightest wish to help us, or help increase the level of technology in Keeliai as a whole. We’re currently looking into alternatives for the consoles - but there’s any number of projects.

[It’s a very large space they’ve set up in, with a very open floor space and high ceiling. Shockwave was insistent on the latter.]

While a background in or familiarity with the sciences or engineering would be preferable, it will not be necessary. We are willing to accommodate anyone willing to learn.

Bruce Wayne. ( a small nod at the feed, and a smile. ) I don't think I've had the chance to thank you personally for this opportunity.

( shockwave doesn't actively dislike help from others, but going from having the influence and money to do nearly whatever one wants to not is an aggravating situation. still! the possibilities and potential are worth any personal discomfort. )

It's no trouble at all. I sort of had the money just laying around, it's better to put it to some form of use.

So everyone seems intent on informing me. ( said with no small amount of good humor. ) But it's the only one I have, and I'm rather fond of it.

Do you mind if I ask what it is you specialize in? I gave Jor-El a sort of carte blanche over the creation and maintenance of this division, but I'm afraid it's left me a little in the dark about the ins and outs of the business.

Alternative energy, although I have ( a few million ) years of experience in other areas - not all of them scientific. And while our primary purpose is to help the entire community, I doubt either Jor-El or myself would be opposed to those simply wishing for resources for their own projects. I'd go so far as to encourage it.

( learning and the continual improvement of whatever came before is important - everything but stagnation. )

By all means, use your own respective discretion in the matter. Anything we can do to help in our time here. Do you mind if I ask what the alternative energy sources you're familiar with are? I confess, it'll likely go right over my head, but I'm always happy to learn.

In short - my planet has a unique type of energy found nowhere else in the universe, and everything uses it. A period of unprecedented growth has resulted in heavy demand and one day we will run out. I was attempting to find a viable alternative.

It seems like that's a common problem for advancing cultures. Fossil fuels pose the same issue in my world.

But your species seems generally inclined to acknowledge the problem. ( casually assuming Bruce is human like a boss. ) We, on the other hand, have a tendency to ignore what is right in front of us.

That I cannot argue. ( as Shockwave would detest being put in the same category as Sentinel or Proteus. but his comment gets another smile. ) It appears as if the universe has been gifted with a very limited template for organic life.

( and humans are so very small compared to the rest of the organic life Shockwave has seen. )

'Your' species, coupled with the rather pointed avoidance of the question itself, is piquing his suspicion in all the wrong places. He's rarely had a good experience with people posing or pretending humanity, J'onn being a rare exception rather than the rule.]

Oh, I think the universe has its surprises. Perhaps we simply haven't encountered them yet. After all, it's a rather big place, hm? It seems disheartening somehow, to assume we're all there is.

Well no, that's highly unlikely in any universe. ( Shockwave has no qualms about other people knowing that Shockwave isn't human - it's just the details of that which makes things difficult. Continuing on with the same smile in place - ) My species has always prided itself on being one of the oldest and therefore we have the advantage over yours in terms of time spent looking for it. You'll simply have to catch up to the rest.

( Bruce might be a dick, but Shockwave has unintentional condescension down to a T. )

It's my hope that when we do, we can strive to be so gracious with our knowledge.

So far I've seen nothing from your species that would suggest otherwise. Not everyone ( Orion ) considers the potential for even the slightest benefit, sadly.

( He's warned Shockwave of their potential, but it's something Shockwave has yet to see and therefore harder to relate to. )

Not at all. It's the least we could do, and we'd both more more than happy to show you some of the plans we've already made.
