tomemyoutliers: (❮ sadness is an expression ❯)

( For someone who is generally a smiling presence on the network, Shockwave is surprisingly morose. Dressed in a somber black dress, hair pulled back into a simple braided bun, there's a weight to Shockwave's expression that has been absent for most of Shockwave's time on the turtle. It's overwhelmingly sad, but lacking the traces of tears or red eyes that one might associate with it. There's only so much a holoform can do - crying is not one of them. )

Orion Pax has gone. If anyone has information on what happens after we've vanished from this place, I would appreciate it. ( Call it scientific curiosity, but also call it trying to keep tabs on if there's any trace of Cybertronian technology just laying around for someone to stumble across. A second or two passes in which Shockwave buries their face in their hands, shoulders slumping. Shockwave managed to get the majority of a very emotional reaction over and done with before approaching the network, but apparently not all of it. Looking back up at the feed, Shockwave continues. ) If you had dealings with him, I apologize. I cannot take his place in law enforcement, but I will do my best to keep any other arrangements he might have made.

( Shockwave pushes something away from the feed gently, a flash of plush horns and fur the only glimpse of the robotic plush Shockwave received as a gift the last landfall. But it does remind Shockwave that there's still things to be discussed rather than wallowing around in grief. )

It's come to my attention that a few datapads from my world might have ended up at auction last month. They're rather large - it's hard to mistake them for anything else. If you've managed to come into possession of one I'll gladly repay you the cost and more for their return.

And lastly, is there still any interest for a school? It would be impossible to force anyone to attend who didn't wish to, nor do I think we should be constrained by what we deem to be a traditional educational system. Just those willing to teach and those willing to learn, regardless of age.

( For most the transmission ends there, but there's private encryptions for a few others. )

[ After all the news of the day, Peter found himself struggling with a very important decision. No one, as far as he knew, had been aware of what lay in his possession when he arrived here. If anyone did, he imagined people would be chasing him down or trying to beat down his door. This was majorly phenomenal cosmic power that they were talking about; imagine anyone being able to bend matter, energy - basically, all of reality - to their whims.

But there was a chance here that the object in his possession, the cosmic cube, could be used to combat whatever flarkin' jerk that was creeping about this place. He knew better than to let it be used for something that could alter history - that was a road no one should ever go down. Taking out this Malicant entity in the here and now, though? What harm would there be in that?

So after hours over agonizing, he finally settled down at his console to address everyone who would listen.
]

Evening, everyone. The name's Peter Quill, if we haven't met before. I'm sorry to be making an introduction at such a somber time, but if we hesitate, we could lose a lot of important time.

[ He paused for just a second. ]

The universe I come from, the things I've dealt with- I'm sure some of you have dealt with similar things in your universes. I've seen cosmic forces take on human and monstrous forms; in my universe, there are people who've spoken to Death herself.

These forces all function on a scale you can't even imagine, and there are things that make even them concerned.

[ Peter's brow furrowed, and his fingers laced together more tightly. ]

When I arrived here, about two weeks ago, I arrived with one of those things in my possession. Some might call it a weapon, but it's way more than that. It was way more than that, at least. [ Here came the hitch. ]

Before I go begging for any and all scientific types and magic-users to come out of the woodwork, and definitely before I let any of you know what I have with me- you all need to know that this thing is broken and needs to be fixed. It's a long shot, but it could be one of our best options in fighting whatever's floating around.

[When the feed turns on, both Jor-El and Shockwave are in view. Shockwave is smiling the same smile as always, bursting with the usual amount of energy. Jor-El’s expression is sedate.]

Hello Keeliai. I am Shockwave. Jor-El [A gesture to the man standing to Shockwave’s left] and I wish to announce the creation of Wayne Enterprise’s Science Division in the Metal Sector.

It has been in the process of being readied for some time [the equipment they felt needed wasn’t on the turtle; it took time to build the tools needed to build more advanced equipment] but now we feel it is sufficiently equipped to bring others on.

Everyone is welcome if you have even the slightest wish to help us, or help increase the level of technology in Keeliai as a whole. We’re currently looking into alternatives for the consoles - but there’s any number of projects.

[It’s a very large space they’ve set up in, with a very open floor space and high ceiling. Shockwave was insistent on the latter.]

While a background in or familiarity with the sciences or engineering would be preferable, it will not be necessary. We are willing to accommodate anyone willing to learn.

That’s all for now, but if there’s anyone with any questions - feel free to ask. Thank you for your time.

[And with another bright smile from Shockwave and a slight nod from Jor-El, the feed ends.

[Hey there, network! Have a Spider-Man!]

So, those of you who know Spider-Man know how he's -- I'm-- always swinging around on webs, right? Well, truth of the matter is, I'm running short on the stuff and not entirely sure how to make more, so I need the help of some of our resident geniuses. I dunno, Tony Stark maybe? Somebody who's good with chemicals and technical stuff.

Let me know, I'd owe you big time.

Thanks!

[ When the feed comes on, Isaac is giving as close a smile as he can. He's not a grinning guy, so it's somewhere between a smirk and a genuine smile. He's also back in his own body. It's a good week. ]

Question. Is anyone sick of having to be in one place to check messages and send them? I don't know about you guys, but I miss phones. And texting. Texting made everything so easy. [ Not to mention, it kept people safe. Instantaneous danger alert, natch. ] Anybody able to come up with some sort of phone prototype? I'd ask if magic can convert a phone or something - cause there's magic here - but, mine is still in the cradle of the car I was driving. So, I want the next best thing. I'd even say some sort of weird telepathy thing could be cool but nobody should be inside my mind. And I don't care what you're all thinking.

[ Also, gross, being inside someone's mind. Switching gears. ]

Also. I feel like my circle of social interaction is limited. No offense to people from Beacon Hills, but I'm used to the small town high school atmosphere. Even being infamous was better than this. So, I'm looking for some friends. I have one really, [ A beat as he considers this ] really good friend. [ Because, what is he going to define right now? ] And I think I had a friend who I pissed off and then there's Erica but there should be more, right? That's what being a teenager is about? Friends and stuff? Since I can't go to school, I want the school experience.

Also, sports. I play lacrosse - if anybody knows what I'm talking about. And thanks to gym class, I've played everything from badminton (no) to basketball (sure, I'm tall) - anybody into organizing something? I even ran cross-country. So, finding some guys to run with. Could be cool.

[ He has all this excess energy, sue him. ]

Also - parties. Specifically, raves? Clubs? Anything like that here?

[ 30% hackable - Stiles Stilinski

We should talk. Catch up. I uh - I got something for you last week.

[ 30% hackable - Scott McCall

I know I called you a friend. You're like my best friend. I also know we've crossed into, you know, more territory. I just - don't know what you thought about me being full disclosure. I can get back on the network and shout it to the rooftops. I've just never been that guy. Or, had the chance to be. Anyway, uh, yeah. [ He blushes and looks away. ] Yeah.

[ 30% hackable - Erica Reyes

We're overdue for catch up. And I need to tell you something.

[ end hacks

[ And then, he turns the camera back onto the public feed. ]

I know why we were brought here and the name we can't say and all but, am I the only person who thinks this place doesn't suck? Discuss.

[After trying to process things for days, she's finally willing to poke herself about again. She's been mostly alone in her rooms.]

If this place is all you have, what would you do? If home isn't an option any more, what things would you want to do here?

If nothing matters... [She's tense, sounding depressed.]

I guess I should make a list of things I've never done and do them. I just don't know where to start. Or do all the things I like to do. Me and my mom used to go hiking, but I guess I can't really do that here.

[She just sort of fades off before shutting the feed off.]

[ Orion comes into view with the unapproachable disposition that only radiates off the truly unpersonable and quarantined nuclear spill sites. In stark contrast to the point of defiance the woman seated next to him is a shining lighthouse set against her companion’s stormy mood with a bright, excited smile illuminating every moment she invades his personal space with her slender arms looped through his. ]

We're looking for an interior decorator. [ Orion looked to his partner almost pleadingly, it was obvious that ‘we’re’ really meant ‘she’s.’ Shockwave gladly took over from Orion, smile widening further. ]

Someone willing to deal with a few odd requests here and there. I have a number of ideas, of course, but my skills lie decidedly elsewhere.

[ Not for lack of trying, however, for Shockwave’s curious enthusiasm was nearly impossible to dampen. ]

Money is a non-issue, and we really would appreciate any help given while we try to consolidate our apartments into the one. Shockwave has some nebulous idea of what she wants but I might as well be banging rocks together.

And if anyone has some experience in construction, there’s an outer wall that needs replacing on the third floor and a garage door to be installed.

[ 100% Botcryption to: Tony Stark (616) ]

I need you to stop by and have a look at something concerning our previous concerns about this energy crisis. You'll make the time.

[ Shockwave shoots Orion a slightly exasperated look, smile still in place. ] What he means is that we think you'll find it interesting.

[HELLO, TURTLEITES. There is a lanky boy with a streak of oil on one cheek grinning dumbly at all of you.]

Hello, citizens of the turtle! Salutations and stuff, or whatever! [And he gives a stupid, dorky salute, his voice mockingly imitating the tone of someone giving a formal address to the adoring masses.] It has come to my attention that people have been concerned about my well-being during my hamster state, and I would like to assure everyone that I am completely fine.

[And he drops the formal tone as he waves a hand dismissively in the air.] But really, I've been in worse situations, and some jerks do a lot more than turn other guys into hamsters. [Like burn their moms accidentally. But if the issue about people labeling someone else as dangerous because of their powers is getting to him, he's not showing it.] Besides, as much as I hate to admit it, it was an okay prank.

[A pause, before an impish grin forms on his face.] And it's not like I'm going down without a fight, Sadie. Because it is on. [The teasing tone on his voice says he's joking, though... probably.]

VIDEO; ENCRYPTED 100%; LOCKED TO JASON, PIPER, PERCY, SANTO, and FINNICK

Uh... [In what is a stark contrast to his cheery, carefree demeanor in his public post, he looks really awkward this time, with a hand rubbing the back of his head and his eyes cast to one side.]

So bros, [Yes Piper you are a bro too deal with it] hypothetical question: if a girl you kind of really like asks you out on a date, how do you... [And now both hands are making vague, circular gestures like he's trying to catch the words in the air.] you know. Go about it?

( the face that appears on the screen is open and friendly - framed by blonde hair. dressed in a blue and red outfit, it serves to put one in mind of a police force or military without obviously being a member of such.

rather than broadcasting from the terminal located in one's assigned quarters, the background is clearly a cafe in metal. )

Who must I talk to in order to place a complaint about these devices? ( a tap of a finger against the screen for extra emphasis. ) Not only are they extremely unintuitive, they're also impossible to modify. I could make so many improvements if they would stop melting every time I opened them up.

( how many terminals has shockwave gone through? it's probably best not to ask. )

My name is Shockwave, and I have a request for those of you with a talent for technology. Included is an attachment with different levels of encryptions that I've coded myself. I would appreciate it if you indulged my curiosity and attempted to break all of them, although you're certainly not obligated to try. Let me know how far you get!

( the coded attachment has four layers of encrypted code - one at 90%, one at 95%, one at 99%, and then one at an unhackable 100% - and when one encryption is broken, the next instantly takes its place. shockwave is aware that no one will get through the last one but it's the principle of the thing. and a bit of showing off - anyone who can get through to the last level will find that the final encryption is a thing of beauty from a coding standpoint. )

There was a notice a few days ago from Miss Ayala about the possibility of starting a school. I haven't worked out all of the details yet but it looks like I'll be acting as Headmaster.

If you're going to be involved in the school in any way, I'd like if we could become acquainted. If we haven't been introduced yet, my name is Tarrlok.

Thank you for your time, and I do hope that this project is a success. [Because kids need something to keep them out of trouble.]

[ A large man that could politely only be described as intense comes into view. Silence as he first, and almost with a sort of methodical intent, straightens the tie and lapels of his dark grey business suit before he makes any sign he means to address the network. The entire display, while mundane, feels scripted.

His voice is deep, and disarmingly calm.
]

My name is Orion Pax; I would introduce myself as former police captain but as this is neither my jurisdiction nor planet then you may simply know me as Orion. Making mention of this was relevant to me because I've found myself in something of a warzone.

Our hosts were kind enough to fill me in on the details with special mention to a series of catastrophes predating my arrival. While I have no intention of diminishing the accomplishments of foreigners who have put their necks out for this place in the past - I find it distressing this Emperor continues her unorthodox recruitment process when the worst has apparently already passed.

I would be grateful to any fellow foreigner willing to commiserate past and current events with an old cop. Thank you.

[ TEXT Encryption; 99% Unhackable ]

If you've gotten through these crude encryptions then I'm going to assume you're either one of mine, or coming from the other side of the fence.

If the former then, while you no longer are expected to answer to me directly, I would appreciate a head count.

If the latter? Well then we might have a problem.
