[The console turns on to the sight of Teddy's anxious face and in the background the viewer can just make out the shape of a giant egg laying in a pile of blankets on the floor.]

I'm calling all turtle egg parents here. I'm a new...,uh parent I guess. Man that is really strange to say. This is my first time taking care of the egg by myself. I guess I was just wondering what are some of the ways you other egg parents take care of your egg. Like, do you ever leave your apartment? Because I have to admit the idea of walking around out there with the egg is kind of intimidating.

So...yeah. Help? Please?

[Teddy scoots in closer.]

I have another question for you guys, and this one probably applies to a wider group of people here. I know that a lot of people here have powers or special abilities that are unique to them. That's probably old news to everyone, right? What I'm interested in knowing is what kind of powers or abilities does everyone have? Think of it as a kind of survey. It might become useful in the future to know that we have twelve magic users and only two telepaths or whatever. [If not it will certainly satisfy Teddy's geeky need to categorize as many new heroes and their abilities as possible in his head. He's definitely missing Wikipedia right about now.]

You don't have to give your name if that makes you uncomfortable. Feel free to reply with an anonymous text if you want. To start things off, I'll go first. My main talent is shape-shifting. But I also have some other handy abilities like super-strength and a healing factor. [The anonymous text idea is really for people who want to keep their established secret identity a secret. Teddy feels more comfortable being open about his identity here where he's surrounded by other people with powers, but he knows there are probably others who don't feel the same.]

I think if I sing to it that will only want it to stay in the egg longer. Looks like I'm going to need to brush up on my fairy tales and bedtime stories.

[He groans and rests his face in his hands. After a moment he peeks at the console through his eyes.] Probably not. But I didn't even know that was a problem. No one ever said, hey by the way the guy we're going to fight has access to the console so don't ask important egg or power related questions.

That bad? [He smiles sympathetically.] That or just tell it tales of your heroic adventures? We've got plenty from home to choose from. Our own and team classics.

[Vic shakes his head.] It's alright. I think that's something I'll talk to Jack and the Welcoming Committee about. Making sure people are warned ahead of time about that.

Yeah. [That's not a bad idea. Lord knows how many Avenger exploits Teddy knows about alone.] I guess if the entire history of the Avengers isn't exciting enough to get this guy to hatch, nothing is.

That's a good idea. We wouldn't want anyone else making the same mistakes.

You'll have your own baby turtle dreaming of becoming a turtle-venger in no time.

[He nods.] Among some others we've made. Like making sure people know not to say or write down the name of our enemy at all.

Turtle-venger? [He looks thoughtful.] I wonder if we could teach them to defend themselves? We could have a mini army of turtles! [He's only half kidding.]

That's a warning I received loud and clear.

It sounded better than X-Turtle. [Victor blinks a few times and tilts his head to the side.] We could probably teach them how to hide in their shells. I'm not sure what else they could do. A small army of turtles could be interesting though. [He chuckles.]

Someone give you trouble over it?

Well, the egg kind of used some kind of psychic link to call out to me. Maybe they're psychic turtles. [Stranger things have happened.]

No, people are just very adamant about that rule. Like saying that name is the equivalent of invoking Voldemort here.

I got that too. It'd make sense that they're psychic. Asti...err, the one we're riding on...he visited a bunch of us in our dreams once. I'm just not sure they can like...go all Emma Frost on enemies.

It's worse than that. Voldemort was just people being scared until the last book anyway. Saying our enemy's name actually powers him up and calls him or something.

Well, not without the proper training anyways. [Duh, Victor.] But I don't know if there are any Emma Frost-level telepaths around.

[Sigh.] Why do the bad guys always get the useful powers that allows them to do the least amount of work?

A younger version of Professor Xavier from some alternate timeline was around before but I'm not sure if he's still here.

[He sighs too.] I don't know. At least they usually get the worse looking costumes. That helps take the sting off.

A young Professor X? That's...really hard to imagine.

Yeah. until it's time to try and fight them.

Tell me about it. He had hair and everything. It was kind of shocking.

Yeah. I remember making a joke about the Serpent Society's costumes once and then I ended up having to fight them solo...[He shakes his head.]

Maybe the whole having easy powers thing helps lead to them going bad in the first place.

Woah. That is something I need to see.

[Teddy winces in sympathy.] How did that go?

Gives new meaning to the saying idle hands are the devil's handy work.

If he's still around, I'll see about introducing you.

[Vic takes a breath.] Well...a lot better than I thought it would. I was doing pretty well holding them all off long enough for Santo to show up but then Mr. Negative showed up and mind-controlled Santo to try to kill me and that was another round of trouble. I managed to turn things around and got them to run for it though.

Especially in the case of actual demonically-related powers.

Ah, the old 'mind-whammy a teammate and make them try to kill you' trick. I wonder if they ever get tired of using the same old tricks time after time. Maybe it's time to revise the super villain handbook.

I made him rethink it. Santo may be much stronger than me and able to regenerate himself but I'm faster. I just kept moving so that every time he tried to have Santo smash me, his guys got hit instead. He ended up running for it after that.

Awesome! [He grins.] That's some pretty good strategic maneuvering there.

[Victor can't help but grin too, puffing his chest out a bit. Just a little fanboy reaction he'll be a bit embarrassed about later.] Thanks. I'm just glad it worked and Santo was freed from that guy. I looked him up the next day online and he was bad news.

You research the guys you fight too? [He sounds a little surprised by this. Teddy thought only he and Billy did that kind of thing.]

[Vic nods.] Definitely. It just makes sense. I'm the only one in my class that read all the old mission files from the X-men and all the information they had on all the villains out there.

You got to read their files? That must have been amazing. I can't even imagine how much data and information they must have.

I did. They encouraged us to read them for homework and stuff but I'm the only one that actually did it. There was a ton of data and information, videos and stuff too. Some of the files even came with Danger Room sim files attached we could run to like...watch old missions or go through them ourselves.

Man, they don't know what they're missing! Isn't part of the whole point of going to Xavier's is to benefit from learning from the X-Men? [It really disturbs him that all the other kids apparently didn't care about this stuff. What is wrong with them?]

The excuses I heard for not doing it was that it wasn't exciting like getting in the Danger Room with one of the X-men or that we got enough homework as it was and they didn't want extra. [Victor was disturbed by it too.]

Man, I would be all over it if my homework included viewing Danger Room sims and stuff. It sure beats Algebra.
