Verse 09 - Video

[Here's a seldom seen face on the network. Jehan's been sick and it shows--he's paler than normal and he sounds a little stuffy.

(The illness was actually convenient. He hasn't been feeling very sociable and this gave him a very good reason to not be sociable.)

But he is feeling better and he supposes he'd best let whoever may have been looking for him know, as well as see who all has shown up in his absence. In the background, you can hear his panpipes playing 19th century Christmas carols]

I had forgotten that simply because I am indisposed does not mean that the world at large is equally indisposed. I have been largely unavailable for the last month, for reasons I suspect are obvious [and here he turns to cough] and I am afraid I have no idea where we are or what has happened. Would anyone be so kind as to, ah, inform me?

For those who may have joined us in the last month, or for those who may have forgotten my face, I am Jean Prouvaire, formerly of Paris.

Enough of my promises, Jehan... Is there not more I can do for you than make empty promises and wish for us to be somewhere warmer?

So I should continue to entertain you? [He grins.]

[Having a coughing fit, excuse him]

...ah. Um.

I'm on my way over with something warm to drink, how does that sound?

Wonderful.

[lecentre]

[There's no reply, then, as he cuts off the feed and shows up at Jehan's shortly after with a canteen of hot tea. One knock on the door before he's tentatively opening it.]

I come bearing tea, mon frere.

[poeticverses]

My hero.

[Jehan is still seated at his console though as soon as Courf enters he's up and moving towards him]

You bought Pontmercy a hat?

[lecentre]

I bought Pontmercy a hideous hat, yes.

[He meets Jehan halfway, but is steering him back towards the couch as soon as he does.]

Did he show you or just tell you?

[poeticverses]

He is trying to give it to me, I think. But I know your ways.

[lecentre]

Oh how ungrateful he is. I hope you won't allow him to part with it so easily.

[poeticverses]

Of course not! I certainly don't want it!

[He laughs, cutting himself off to cough a bit violently]

Ugh, this is miserable. I am missing the trip to the mainland!

[lecentre]

Here... Drink up.

[He frowns and hands over the canteen.]

Hopefully we'll have another soon?

Perhaps, but I was hoping to find gifts for the holidays there.

[He takes a sip of the tea]

[lecentre]

Ah... And you were going to see what's there, so you couldn't just send me with a list?

Do you believe if I bundle you well enough you could make it to just the first town?

[poeticverses]

I am on bedrest, more or less, and even if I were not I would not want to risk it.

[lecentre]

You are better at listening than I am...

You know we do not need anything for the holiday, we understand.

[poeticverses]

Nonsense. It is the holidays.

[lecentre]

And you are ill and on bed rest.

[poeticverses]

Yes, and? I am recovering quite nicely. I know precisely what I would like to give everyone. I will be fine.

[lecentre]

You've had more than enough time to think about it, have you?

[He grins a little, laughing.]

[poeticverses]

You have no idea. I have not had the brain to write, Courfeyrac! I have been miserably bored.

[lecentre]

Oh Jehan. Had I known, I would have been here to bother you much sooner.

[And he means it. Even if Joly would have had a fit.]
