002 ♛ video
[ Monet is seated, one leg crossed over the other, arms folded, lips curled into a smile, immaculately dressed as always, regarding the camera with a critical eye. In front of her is a chessboard, all set out for a game. She’s chosen black, so white faces the viewer. ]
I require an opponent.
I require an opponent.

I like movies, and novels, and coding computer viruses. Practicing with my sickles, too. And other people have their own hobbies. You following me?
It's fairly simple.
[But that's not the point.]
What kind of movies?
Romance films, with or without a comedic bent.
[He's 100% serious.]
It's a fascinating sociological phenomenon, isn't it?
[When it comes to herself she thinks it's really sentimental nonsense. Losing Ev hardened her own heart, but she's invested in her friends, and thinks it's rather sweet.]
[That, and well. Somebody has to explain everything to Shatterstar or he's going to keep thinking he's the next Gene Kelly.]
Yes! Thank you! Finally someone who fucking gets it. Do you have any idea how many times people have given me shit for liking those? And yet who do they turn to when they need advice on their problems?
[His own romantic experiences aren't so great, either, but he holds out hope in his heart. He sincerely likes the sentimentality.]
[She lifts a shoulder in a half-shrug, playing it cool.]
A teammate of mine frequently marathons them when they're on television. Someone has to explain all the nuances to him.
[There's a pause, and she hmms softly.]
There's a radio here; an advice column wouldn't be out of place.
Troll romance is seriously complicated, so learning how it works and the different ways given social situations can influence its outcomes and issues is practical as much as a way to enjoy and interesting story.
An advice column only works for as well as I can give something suited to that particular person's form of romance, though. I know a good bit about human romance by now, but I also know there's things besides humans around. I don't know the first thing about how kedan conduct their relationships, for one.
[While searching the network she came across Eridan's post on the subject. While informative, she didn't quite appreciate it when she'd been searching for information about the Emperor, or previous attacks on the city.]
Do you mind reading scripts? I have perfect recall - I can transcribe a few for you to research.
Not something I've done much, but I doubt I'd mind. So long as it has the story, that's what I'm there for.
I'll send the copies over when I'm done. You know where to reach me if any strikes your fancy.
I do.
['Obviously.']
[Handwave. He'd return if he could, in other words.]
Or I could simply learn the language. We've only got time sitting around here waiting.
I've never so much as attempted to teach someone else a language. You realize in Alternian friend and enemy are the same word? How about the fact that highbloods and lowbloods use entirely different words for certain objects? And do not even think of complaining to me about the way we name other objects, but at least they make more sense than your human words.
I'm French. It's - [oh right, the reference is lost on him] considered difficult. I'm sure I'd have no problem.
[She's a genius, after all.]
Name a time, and I'll be there.
That work?
[And with that, she cuts the feed.]
