[Catty's in a pair of overalls that are basically covered in paint, and she's got a smear on her cheek as well. But her hands are clean, and she's handling one of a set of books with care]
So...this post isn't exactly super-important-Mally-related. Or anything like that at all, actually. But I figured I should ask around! The thing is, I kind of got carried away with the auctions. I've never been to one before, and there were all kinds of interesting things for sale, and before I knew it I ended up with a bunch of French books that I've never heard of. At least, I think they're French. I don't even read French.
[She's grinning, though, amused by her own terrible decision making] Anyway, I've seen that people have been picking up stuff that actually belongs to other people, so I thought I'd ask if these belong to anyone. [She proceeds to dance the books across the screen, one at a time. She sets them down when she's done, but she doesn't seem quite ready to hang up.]
--Actually, this is something completely unrelated to the books, but something Vanessa said in her post reminded me. Do we actually have any places for clubbing here? Or dancing? I asked when I first showed up, but I never really got an answer. I think it'd be fun. And useful! Dancing before trying to save the world has a one hundred percent success rate, in my experience.

Good afternoon, my dear. We have not met before, I believe—I am Lord Henry Wotton, and if I am not mistaken, you have my books.

I live in the Fire sector, but I spend some time in the Wood sector. Where do you reside, my dear?

Or maybe we could get some foreigners to do live music or something. Who doesn't want to be in a band, right?
video;
Okay, I'm perfectly willing to try old Chinese club music. That'd totally be an awesome experience. I'll keep my eyes open.
[ And, beat. ]
Well. Some people are tone-deaf...
video;
[Catty laughs] So it'll be like karaoke. Sometimes making a fool of yourself is just as much fun as actually being good at something, you know?

[ Until the morning after, at least. ]

[Shopping's important.]
I don't think I've seen any places like that, but to be honest I haven't been looking. Back home me and my friends hung out at a coffee shop more than anything else. [At least she did when she wasn't getting too tangled in her responsibilities as a superhero.]
[It's definitely something she'd take up if there was anyplace for that here, though.]
video;
[Shopping is super important!]
Coffee shops are cool too! There was just this one place me and my friends used to go to all the time back home. Planet Bang. My best friend was in a band, and we'd knock everyone out dancing. I miss that sort of freedom.
video;
[Shopping is massively important.]
I'm still getting used to the idea of bartering instead of regular sales, but I can't complain with some of the results I'm getting so far.
[Being able to argue prices down? It's an amazing idea.]
About the only thing I'm missing are the styles from home.
I'm May, by the way.
video;
[She sounds almost serious there, but then May mentions styles, and Catty huffs out a sigh] Tell me about it. My best friend's mom is a fashion designer back home, so we always had a huge variety to choose from. This get sort of samey, here.
Catty! My name, that is, that wasn't an accusation.
video;
I wish I could say the same! My mom was in fashion too, but our tastes do not match up. [Something she wishes wasn't the case, but there was no way either of them were giving in on that.] On the plus side I did pick a few things up from her. I'm planning on putting it to use.
[Benefits of having a family member here who pitched in for her to buy a sewing machine.]
Catty, but definitely not catty. [A grin.] Got it. Nice to meet you.
video;
video; So guess whose sister has the first book and guess who's liberated it
video; oh god I HOPE YOU LIKE IT. they're fun, but not super consistent
video; They're the next thing I'm planning on reading so we'll see!
