21 ❄ ( VIDEO )
[ Jack's been largely off network for about a month, other than replying to those whom he's closest with. But there's too much to do and too many people who needed him to not be uselessly hung up on his own issues. So he faces the console screen with something much closer to his usual good cheer and Baby Tooth is perched in her usual spot on his shoulder. ]
There's been a lot of new people lately so I thought I'd bring this up again. My name's Jack Frost, this is Baby Tooth and I'm... kind of in charge of the Welcome Center here in the city. For anyone who's arrived lately, the kedan who showed you where your suite was should have mentioned it to you.
[ There will be a location ping that shows a very centrally located address, one that if anyone else in the city has tried to procure a business of their own will know is normally unavailable. ]
If you need anything that the kedan weren't able to provide at your suite, let me know and I'll see if I can track it down. Don't worry about if it costs money you haven't got yet. I've collected information about the city that'll help you get settled in and they're in brochures, there's books you can borrow that aren't in kedanese if you want to borrow them, like a library. Just bring them back in one piece, 'cause there aren't that many and we only seem to get more when we visit a mainland. Oh, and I have a list of some kedan shopkeepers who are willing to take on Foreigner employees so they can start working.
If you want to volunteer some time, just let me know. You don't need any kind of experience, just be willing to answer questions and help people learn about the city.
[ He thinks for a moment but can't come up with anything he's forgotten. ]
Yup. I think that's everything.

Yup. I think that's everything.

[And he can understand her, or he's pretending to. Sarah doesn't mind. This is awesome.]
I'm new. Dunno about neighbour. Do you live in the wood sector too?
no subject
I do, in WO-3A. Sorry I didn't come to meet you sooner.
[ He should have been more proactive, especially given that this is a child. Jack looks apologetic for that. ]
no subject
[Holy shit. It's only that he keeps talking that Sarah snaps out of her amazement.]
Oh hey, you're real close! And... don't worry about it. There's been a lot of new people and places and so damn much to get my head around, y'know?
[Let's not forget the parts she's just flat out refusing to acknowledge for the time being.]
Nice to meet you though. I'm Sarah.
no subject
[ A bit of salty language for her age aside, Sarah seems a little more typical of children her age.
he really has no idea]Nice to meet you too, Sarah.
no subject
[She stops to think on that. Sarah might have things to ask, but she put little thought towards them before bursting out about Baby Tooth.]
Do you have any maps or anything? I'm working out how to get around here but it's waaaay bigger than I thought it was. Oh and I... need a job or somethin'. You don't know anyone that'd hire someone my age, would ya?
no subject
Plenty of them. The whole city and then detailed ones for each Sector. Kind of like bus maps, you know... with landmarks to make it easier to find your way around.
For a job, there are some shops where you can help out. If you don't mind fish then I can hire you for the fish shop.
no subject
[She shoots him her most innocent smile.]
What kind of fish shop is it? Pet fish or well, food... fish?
no subject
Sure you can. You want me and Baby Tooth to bring them to you, or...?
Fish like the kind for food. Being on a turtle is not much different than an island, so seafood is basically a staple. A friend of mine and I opened the shop months ago and he ran it... then after he went home, I took it over so it wouldn't close.
no subject
[He's already doing her a huge favor. The last she wants is to cause him trouble.]
Can I come see the fish shop? [A beat.] I'm sorry your friend left.
no subject
Sure you can. It's not really exciting or anything, but...
no subject
Oh right. Yeah, good point! I didn't know if you were home or not so...
[But wait. What. Sarah's eyes widen.]
You can fly?!
no subject
Yeah, with the Wind.
haha get it. he's cool. haha... hah.
[Why is everyone here so cool.]
How does that even work?
the coolest
no subject
[Perhaps a little too eager there, Sarah.]
Uh, I mean. That'd be great.
no subject
Sounds good, I'll see you shortly.
no subject
Alright. I'll meet ya out front.
[With a grin and a wave, Sarah cuts the feed.]
