[ Jack's been largely off network for about a month, other than replying to those whom he's closest with. But there's too much to do and too many people who needed him to not be uselessly hung up on his own issues. So he faces the console screen with something much closer to his usual good cheer and Baby Tooth is perched in her usual spot on his shoulder. ]

There's been a lot of new people lately so I thought I'd bring this up again. My name's Jack Frost, this is Baby Tooth and I'm... kind of in charge of the Welcome Center here in the city. For anyone who's arrived lately, the kedan who showed you where your suite was should have mentioned it to you.

[ There will be a location ping that shows a very centrally located address, one that if anyone else in the city has tried to procure a business of their own will know is normally unavailable. ]

If you need anything that the kedan weren't able to provide at your suite, let me know and I'll see if I can track it down. Don't worry about if it costs money you haven't got yet. I've collected information about the city that'll help you get settled in and they're in brochures, there's books you can borrow that aren't in kedanese if you want to borrow them, like a library. Just bring them back in one piece, 'cause there aren't that many and we only seem to get more when we visit a mainland. Oh, and I have a list of some kedan shopkeepers who are willing to take on Foreigner employees so they can start working.

If you want to volunteer some time, just let me know. You don't need any kind of experience, just be willing to answer questions and help people learn about the city.

[ He thinks for a moment but can't come up with anything he's forgotten. ]

[ He nudges her, moving towards the window. ]

But you're right, we should get going. Ready for a day of fins and scales?

[She nudges him back, but does head to the window. Not just to, but up and out, climbing out onto a few of the branches before floating herself to the ground.]

I may need to stop by the bookstore and pick up a book of fish puns first. I think you might be outdoing me, and this scampi happening.

[ He joins her on the ground, falling into step in the direction of the shop. ]

I don't think that'll be necessary. Besides, I prefer my Zatanna on the fly and not practiced.

Your Zatanna, huh?

[She knew he didn't mean anything by it ~~probably~~, which made it all the more fun to tease about.]

Suddenly, I get the feeling I'm being lured into a trap of some kind.

It was you or the nearest tuna, sorry.

[ He fully expects to get a swat for that one~ ]

It shouldn't be that busy today though. We might end up doing more cleaning than sales.

[He was right; that earned him a nice smack on the upper forearm.]

Wait, you mean you actually clean? It's like I'm seeing a whole, new side of you.

You think my suite just gets bored of being messy and tidies itself up? I have lived here over a year, you know.

Actually, I just figured Baby Tooth was cleaning up after you.

I think you're overestimating just how much Baby Tooth likes my company, in that case. Actually I've started being a little cleaner since she arrived.

That's very gentlemanly of you, Jack.

I guess sometimes, all a guy needs is a pretty lady to hang around, and the motivation just appears as if by magic.

[Obviously meant to be a huge compliment to Baby Tooth, whom Zatanna still thought was utterly adorable.]

Pretty ladies should never underestimate what will be done for them.

[ Obviously he's agreeing, though the allusion is still there. ]

[As if to show the allusion didn't go unnoticed, she lightly bumps into him. The movement brings them closer in proximity as they walk, and even after she's done, she doesn't completely move away.]

How much farther?

[ Jack nodded to a building on the corner just up the street from them. ]

Right there.

Hmm. Cute. Very cozy.

Finnick picked a good spot. He was the one who set all this up, I just put the money towards it.

[Her expression softened a bit. Finnick. Somebody he had lost. She knew the feeling.]

You kept it going, Jack. That takes more than just money.

I wonder if... one day, he might come back. It's not something I should hope for, I know. But I kind of want to show him, you know-- how it turned out. Fishing, that was really important to him. I'm just fumbling along with it.
