[The video feed clicks onto the lovely grinning visage of Ixis Naugus, staff in hand, a pile of writing books to one side.]

Fellow Foreigners of Keeliai, I ask that you indulge me in what could be a bit of census-taking!

In the interest of further defending this turtle and those who reside upon it, I wish to know and take note who among us are versed in magicks and similiar abilities. I feel it would suit our collective purpose better to have this information compiled, perhaps look into how our respective crafts interact or can be enhanced. Please, come forward, fellow casters; tell me your name and tell me your arts!

In the interest of fairness and demonstration of goodwill, I will state my own. I am Ixis Naugus and I specialize in, of course, Ixian magicks. The focus of such being the control and transformation of the four elements: air, water, fire and earth. I am a master of all four as well as a fifth of my own making, the transformation of matter into crystals nigh indestructible.

Come forth and make yourselves known, wizard heroes of Tu Vishan!

So, regulated. Only marginally different, as you say. Are the ones doing the regulating even casters themselves? Self-governed leaves less of a sour taste in the mouth, but even so...

Ah, Champion! The chosen, lauded hero of the people! Though they may not remember your name, at least you have their admiration. That counts for something, doesn't it?

If a member of the Chantry turned out to be a mage they'd likely kill themselves on the spot out of shame. If mages aren't in their Circle Towers then they're apostates and if they're apostates most like to point their fingers and go 'it's evil kill it!' Then again, it doesn't help the mage cause when a lot of them turn out to be evil.

Honestly, I think they're all crazy.

[Then he stuck his nose in things and made it even more crazy.

When you say it like that it sounds much more impressive. Not entirely sure who's admiring me now though. Things were a bit messy when I left.

I wouldn't go so far as to say crazy, but a different mindset is usually necessary to become great in magicks. Speaking from personal experience. Ahhhheheheh.

All the same, your land sounds a dire place I would not care to visit. Magic is so embedded into who and what I am. To have it labeled worthy of the death sentence, no questions asked, would not sit well with me.

It sounds things were messy in most realms at the time of our departure. Mine, on the brink of war and destruction. But also necessary change and political unrest. Perhaps that is a factor in what draws a hero to Tu Vishan.

You don't have to. I already said it.

[Templars. Mages. Chantry. Qunari. They're all nuts. Each of them just have a different flavor.]

It's not a trip I'd recommend, but then again your home doesn't sound much better off then mine. Good luck with that.

[Hawke gives a shrug of his shoulder.]

After some of the people I met here I'd have to say it's just blind luck.

I'm inclined to also assume dumb luck, but I'm doing my best to study the summoning process and must keep an open mind. Granted, study is a little difficult when all public is barred from seeing and examining the spell itself.

But so it goes. Either way, we can only grow more knowledgeable the longer we are here.

I'm not sure how else to explain how kids and lunatics get here but go ahead, everyone needs a way to spend their time.

Let's hope we don't grow too knowledgeable. Nice as it is, I'm hoping not to spend a lot of time here.

Like I said, I'm doubtful there's any rhyme or reason. But I'm going to try and give the notion a chance. Don't need to go into this research to just confirm my own biases.

Are you so unsure of any new opportunities this land might present to you in the long run? Remember, open mind!

It's not opportunity I worry about. It's how long will my luck hold out. Experience tells me not long.

Luck is a flimsy thing to begin with. Fall back on your doubtless skill, Champion! What could you possibly fear when luck runs its course?

Oh skill I have plenty of.

[But it couldn't save everyone. Thankfully Hawke is skilled in repressing things too.]

But when there's a new catastrophe to deal with each week I begin to worry that I might be cursed.

[Repression is good for you! Unresolved tragedy or trauma? Put that shit in the head vault. Gone! Done! Easy.]

A placid life is a curse as well. Be thankful you attract interesting times, Champion.

[Guess who's got a nickname now?]

[Exactly! Why deal with it when it's just so much easier to ignore it?]

If my life turns placid that can only mean I'm dead. I have this terrible habit of looking for trouble when it doesn't find me first.

[At least he's used to it by now.]

Suppose that makes me a bit of a hypocrite but being perfect is no fun anyway.

[Curiosity and a sense for adventure make for a dangerous cocktail.]

See!? I was just about to say; you can't complain if you're seeking it out. At the very least, it's better than the alternative, how about that?

To be a little more on track with my original inquiry, do you yourself possess any tricks or talents? Clearly not magic, given its illegal nature back home. But a Champion must have some manner of ability and strength to claim such a title!

You mean besides a fantastic beard and charming personality?

[Because come on, those are the best things about him.]

I've been known to fiddle with locks and traps in the past.

[There's not a one that he hasn't been able to disarm, unless it was magically sealed but that's just cheating anyway.]

And it turns out that I'm very good at slaying monsters with a pair of axes.

[People too but saying that makes him sound like some kind of mass murderer.]

[Naugus excitedly gestures between himself and Hawke as he says that. Fantastic beard, charming personality? ME TOO! Let's start a club! Once that's past, he nods along with the other listed talents.]

Brute strength and cunning to back it up are often useful as well; often have their places. You remind me a great deal of Warlord Kodos, really, just with a better personality.

[And what a club that would be. Everyone else on the turtle feel jealous.]

It got me this far. That and an almost complete lack of common sense.

[But at least Hawke knows his faults.]

With a name like that I can't imagine he's all that fun to deal with. 'Warlord' doesn't exactly bring to mind smiles and sunshine.

Common sense is a little overrated. Gets in the way of creative thinking. One just has to kind of find a balance between the two.

[He holds his claw parallel to his desk and rocks it back and forth in a see-saw gesture. Little give, little take, you know how it is.]

Oh, Kodos was beyond easy to deal with because the man had no finesse whatsoever and you could see his treachery coming from miles off. That and his strength is how he wound up one of my right-hand men. Right up until he wasn't. Like I said, you saw it coming ages before it arrived. Easy.

Exactly. Too much of that and I would have never ran into a district full of poison gas that drives men insane before killing them or challenged the general of an invading army to a duel.

[Of course Aveline prodding him helped that too, but she wasn't always there for the other incredibly stupid and dangerous things he did.]

So the two of you didn't get along I take it?

Seems you came out of both misadventures all right. I'm assuming all your limbs are accounted for and you can clearly still string together sentences and swing a weapon. No harm, no foul.

Warlord Kodos and I got along fine, really. When we had common goals, everything went accordingly; swimmingly so. When we didn't have these goals, he had a lot of ham-fisted attempts to murder me. I always saw it coming so, once again, no harm, no foul? A few turn of events later, and he ended up needing me for his ongoing survival, which got him to mellow a bit out.

In the long run, though, we parted ways. And now I am here, and he is dead by toxic radiation. I think this all played out as well as it could have, all things considered, don't you?

I suppose not, unless both parties are still harboring grudges. Though I've never been much of a long-term planner to be honest.

[Hawke raises an eyebrow but continues to smirk. This Ixis fellow is surprisingly mellow for all the assassination attempts he says he's been through. He might be a little crazy but at least it's Hawke's brand of crazy.]

Sounds like a win-win situation if I ever heard one.

And who would both parties be in these particular escapades? Don't leave me to be the only one telling stories here.

Generally I leave the story-telling to a friend of mine. It makes me look more dashing when I'm not the one talking about how amazing I am.

[Now if only he actually lived up to those stories. Then he'd be unstoppable.]

But alright, there's the qunari who might hate me because I killed their general and then sent them home. Or they may actually like me more for that. I'm not entirely sure. They're a little confusing.

Then there's the Chantry who aren't happy that I helped start the whole mage rebellion going on at home right now.

A rebellion against this Chantry? My good man, I feel the need to thank you on behalf of mages, wizards and sorcerers everywhere! A most noble champion indeed. I don't even need to know the deeper politics, I just know you've done the right thing.

That's what they tell me. It all kind of snowballed out of control really. One thing led to another and before I knew it templars were trying to kill my friends, my sister, and me. I can't help but take offense to that.

[Really it was Anders that started this hot mess but he's not going to out his friend as a magical terrorist that blew up the Chantry with a magic bomb thing.]

[Probably wise since this conversation is on public record, but Naugus is a man who'd probably appreciate the term 'magical terrorist'.]

Are you an outcast for this now? I thought you were the lauded hero of your land! Is their adoration so fickle?
