[He thought a good night’s sleep would cure him from this weariness, but when he woke up in the room he remembered seeing in his dream well that was more than enough information to let him know this was real. It’s not the giant turtle that gets to him or even this sector with canals and fountains. No, it all reminds him of home. What gets him is him being drafted into some unknown war by some noble. That’s unreal. Maybe if he were a knight, it’d be different, but he discarded that idea some time ago.

Playing with the console he was taught how to use, he figured he may as well see if he can really transmit a message. If he was fooled, well, it’ll make him look like an idiot to anyone within an earshot of him. If he wasn’t, then this would be a good way to find some useful information.]

So, we’ve been brought here to fight a war, right? I’m sure that’s a question you’ve all heard lots of time from newbies like me. I get that, really, but shouldn’t I get some say in whether I want to fight? [His voice sounds weary, still tired from all this despite getting sleep. More or less finding displeasure in this situation.] Whatever, I’m stuck here, aren’t I? May as well do what I can. [Not that he sounds enthusiastic about this.]

Is there some sort of training facility around? I mean, if they want us to fight, we gotta keep up with our skills, right? If not, I’d love to have a sparring partner or two. [He grins at this point, excited at the thought of fighting otherworldy people. Are they strong? Can they actually put a scratch on him? If they can kick his ass then that’s even better. It’ll help Yuri get stronger.]

Also, I was told I needed to ‘find a job’. [He almost scoffs at this statement. The only jobs he’s had are guild jobs. Oh, and being a knight, but that didn’t go well.] I’m pretty handy with a sword and a spatula, so there’s my resume. [Cooking is even better because that gets him close to sweets to satiate his sweet tooth. He’d call that pretty even pay.]

Well, hope this went through. If not, then I probably made myself sound like an idiot trying. [He gives a lopsided grin, chuckling at the end as he’s trying to figure out how to send this and turn it off. After a few seconds of fumbling, he finally gets it.]

You don't need to know how to fight to be useful here in this... war. Personally, I haven't seen much of the war part anyway, but that's probably just me.

Fight, heal, support, cast spells, it really falls under the same category. We need all types to fight efficiently. [This idiot just needs a healer all the time for the fights he gets into.]

Still, don't wanna sit around and no nothing just 'cause it's calm.

I didn't say that. It's just hard to tell what to really prepare for when things are so calm.

Guess that makes sense. [He takes a deep breath and tries not to be so tense, even if it's still kind of offput by being in this situation.]

Of what sort? I've known a few different swordsmen back home, but I can't wield a blade myself. Except knives, but that's not even close really.

You mean a mercenary or knight? I'm not either. I'm just a guy with a sword who likes to fight things. Though, if it means anything to you I belong to a guild.

Oh, I see. Being in a guild is respectable enough if they're anything like the ones we have back home. [Hard to get into and all that.]

Guess it depends on the person. Some people aren't big fans while others live by them. The guild I belong to is still starting out since we just created it not too long ago.

[He shrugs a bit, but there's some pride in his voice in how he talks about his guild.]

Well, I wish you luck, but I doubt you'll have a lot to do with your guild since you're here now. Still, apparently people show up at random, so you never what face you'll see next.

Figured that much since they didn't arrive with me. [Him and his other two members...] Not sure if I want them to arrive here, though. We've got enough on our plates at home, y'know?

I'm a doctor, one of medicine and theory. Right now, I just work for Wayne Enterprises.

So you study medicine but you don't heal, right?

[What he means to say is that she doesn't have healing magic, but she can take that as she wants.]

I study medicine and certain types of science, particularly technology. I do work as a practiced doctor, though.

[Yes, to the healing. No, to the magic.]

So, you're a mage, then.

[Mage = scientists who study technology in his world. Sorry, he's having trouble wrapping his mind around this.]

You must have some interesting techniques, then.

A mage? What are those like where you're from?

[She's heard, you know, fairy tale stories about mages and things, but he isn't the first one to call her that.]

They're people who study technology in my world. We call it Blastia. Anyway, they research to see what kind of formulas they can use and apply it, whether it be with spells or everyday things. I imagine some use it to find healing techniques, too. That's about all I know, though.

That sounds very interesting. I... guess I sort of do things like that, but without the spells part.

So you study technology to better everyday lives, then, yeah?

What about you? You had a guild, but didn't do mercenary work. What sort of things did you take on or should I not ask such things?

Us? We did all sorts of things. Deliveries, escort missions, all that stuff. We did some mercenary work, though. Landed us a boat at one point for pay.

[His guild is a little different in that it doesn't have a definite trade, but hey, that's kind of what he likes about it.]

That sounds great, helping people out like that.

[She thinks it would be better than being in a lab all day - and it is - but she neglects to realize that she's not usually stuck in a lab.

Still. It sounded like there was much more freedom involved than her position.] Things are more restrictive where I'm from.

[He's a little pinged by this 'restrictive' term since he kind of enjoys bringing people out of captivity to see the world.]

Well, I work for this big organization and there's certain things I can and can't do. [Like leaving... Not that she wants to, but still.] Society's sort of made things that way where I live.

An organization, huh? [Almost reminds him of the Empire's hold on the mages in his world.] I understand that though. Some people just hold all the chips to do that, whether we like it or not.
