[He thought a good night’s sleep would cure him from this weariness, but when he woke up in the room he remembered seeing in his dream well that was more than enough information to let him know this was real. It’s not the giant turtle that gets to him or even this sector with canals and fountains. No, it all reminds him of home. What gets him is him being drafted into some unknown war by some noble. That’s unreal. Maybe if he were a knight, it’d be different, but he discarded that idea some time ago.
Playing with the console he was taught how to use, he figured he may as well see if he can really transmit a message. If he was fooled, well, it’ll make him look like an idiot to anyone within an earshot of him. If he wasn’t, then this would be a good way to find some useful information.]
So, we’ve been brought here to fight a war, right? I’m sure that’s a question you’ve all heard lots of time from newbies like me. I get that, really, but shouldn’t I get some say in whether I want to fight? [His voice sounds weary, still tired from all this despite getting sleep. More or less finding displeasure in this situation.] Whatever, I’m stuck here, aren’t I? May as well do what I can. [Not that he sounds enthusiastic about this.]
Is there some sort of training facility around? I mean, if they want us to fight, we gotta keep up with our skills, right? If not, I’d love to have a sparring partner or two. [He grins at this point, excited at the thought of fighting otherworldy people. Are they strong? Can they actually put a scratch on him? If they can kick his ass then that’s even better. It’ll help Yuri get stronger.]
Also, I was told I needed to ‘find a job’. [He almost scoffs at this statement. The only jobs he’s had are guild jobs. Oh, and being a knight, but that didn’t go well.] I’m pretty handy with a sword and a spatula, so there’s my resume. [Cooking is even better because that gets him close to sweets to satiate his sweet tooth. He’d call that pretty even pay.]
Well, hope this went through. If not, then I probably made myself sound like an idiot trying. [He gives a lopsided grin, chuckling at the end as he’s trying to figure out how to send this and turn it off. After a few seconds of fumbling, he finally gets it.]

Does handy with a spatula refer to cooking where you're from? Or is it some kind weapons... thing?
no subject
[Not that he's really had to use it for that reason, but he would if necessary.]
no subject
[ If he's in a pinch and needs to slap someone with something, he'll remember the spatula recommendation. ]
So how good at cooking at you?

[And he makes them with love.]
ugh, sorry for the typo
I didn't even notice until you pointed it out

[Sarcastic? You bet he is. More of the joking variety really.]
No training facilities around here, but I'm just one of the new guys too. Take that for what you will. I'll spar with you sometime though. Don't want to get rusty.
video
[He gives a lopsided grin.]
Recruited, too, huh? Guess they're in need of people. And I'll take you up on that offer. I don't want to sit around and have my skills go to waste.
video
[He's not a complainer there. He chuckles slightly.]
I haven't been here long, but I am wondering what the criteria is for the lucky winners of the Fight in Somebody Else's War contest. All over the spectrum from not really humans to little kids.
But oh yeah the manners thing. If we'll be beating the crap out of each other, we should introduce ourselves. I'm Alvin.
video
Sounds like they just put their hand in a box and pull out whatever they grab. Doesn't sound particularly useful.
[Oh, right manners. Yuri doesn't have those but he can play along.] Sounds good to me. I'm Yuri. Yuri Lowell.

Pretty sure that counts as fighting in a war, unless we're not participating and forced to stay in a war zone. Then that'd be the vacation you're talking about.
video;
You might be better off sitting in your house stuffing yourself full of sweets for all I know.

[Sweets and fights, that's all he needs to be happy, really.]

You sure bit on to that pretty quickly. Take it you're a fighter yourself.
[And he knows not to judge or underestimate people because, damn, he knows girls who can fight.]

I see you've already spoken with Stark, so there goes my job offer. But as to a training facility - if you speak with Avatar Korra, she should be able to direct you to a dojo. She's been after me to go for weeks, but I'm not particularly interested in the martial disciplines.
[A bit of a shrug, there. Of course it's the Biggest Damn Lie Ever, but it's all part of his charm.]
video;
Avatar Korra, huh? I'll keep that name in mind, then. Thanks.
[Yeah, Yuri isn't sure if this guy is telling the truth about the martial disciplines thing, but he's not going to call him out on it. Just an observation on his part.]
video;
You could always start a catering business, and hire people to do your deliveries for you. There's a dearth of decent chefs in Keeliai, I'm afraid.
[Bruce has had to learn - simple enough in theory, thanks to the practical application of knowledge that cooking is simply a branch of chemistry, but he misses Alfred's recipes.]
She's also on the lookout for teachers, I believe, she was soliciting for them a while ago after her principle trainer left, so if you're skilled enough to warrant it you might consider volunteering.
