[He thought a good night’s sleep would cure him from this weariness, but when he woke up in the room he remembered seeing in his dream well that was more than enough information to let him know this was real. It’s not the giant turtle that gets to him or even this sector with canals and fountains. No, it all reminds him of home. What gets him is him being drafted into some unknown war by some noble. That’s unreal. Maybe if he were a knight, it’d be different, but he discarded that idea some time ago.

Playing with the console he was taught how to use, he figured he may as well see if he can really transmit a message. If he was fooled, well, it’ll make him look like an idiot to anyone within an earshot of him. If he wasn’t, then this would be a good way to find some useful information.]

So, we’ve been brought here to fight a war, right? I’m sure that’s a question you’ve all heard lots of time from newbies like me. I get that, really, but shouldn’t I get some say in whether I want to fight? [His voice sounds weary, still tired from all this despite getting sleep. More or less finding displeasure in this situation.] Whatever, I’m stuck here, aren’t I? May as well do what I can. [Not that he sounds enthusiastic about this.]

Is there some sort of training facility around? I mean, if they want us to fight, we gotta keep up with our skills, right? If not, I’d love to have a sparring partner or two. [He grins at this point, excited at the thought of fighting otherworldy people. Are they strong? Can they actually put a scratch on him? If they can kick his ass then that’s even better. It’ll help Yuri get stronger.]

Also, I was told I needed to ‘find a job’. [He almost scoffs at this statement. The only jobs he’s had are guild jobs. Oh, and being a knight, but that didn’t go well.] I’m pretty handy with a sword and a spatula, so there’s my resume. [Cooking is even better because that gets him close to sweets to satiate his sweet tooth. He’d call that pretty even pay.]

Well, hope this went through. If not, then I probably made myself sound like an idiot trying. [He gives a lopsided grin, chuckling at the end as he’s trying to figure out how to send this and turn it off. After a few seconds of fumbling, he finally gets it.]

[It's a really good thing he has quick reflexes, because holy crap! She wasn't going for a first hit... she was going for the kill. At least form Yuri's perspective.

Good. This is very good.

As soon as she lunged, he used his sword to block the attack, but it caused him to rebound just a bit. As soon as he got his balance back, he decided it was best to see what she could do at a distance. Scraping his sword against the ground, he sent a focused gust of wind in her direction--] Azure Edge!

[It's not surprising that he's able to block, and she's even glad for it. From the way he'd talked over the network, she would've been disappointed if it ended so soon.

Is that seriously a gust of wind he's sending over with his sword though? Her eyes widen in surprise, and she jumps back to spin out of the direction of the blast. Deciding not to run back in just yet, Leia holds up her staff from the lower half to spin it in a circular motion.]

Crescent Flash!

[That staff of hers definitely gives her range, at least he knows that much. So distance isn't something he wants to give her in the future. It'll give her an edge.

Dodging her staff, he decides he may as well go in and close the distance. Running towards her, he makes to slash her with his sword, but wait, there's more!]

Ghost Wolf!

[In almost an instant, he phases behind her to attack her with his sword once more.]

[While Leia had definitely been prepared to block from the front, and naturally does so, from the back is a whole different story. Jeez, is this guy as fast as Jude or something?]

Wha— [There's no time to block or dodge or anything, and she ends up getting knocked down to the ground as a result.] How did you even do that?!

[She's half-impressed and half-indignant. Getting knocked down like that kinda hurt okay!! But seriously HOW DID HE DO THAT.]

[Resting the flat side of his blade over his shoulder, he can't help but smile. That stupid cocky smile. As for how he did it, well, even he doesn't really know.]

Guess it's just something I can do. Helps me get out of pinches.

[Well, he's aware it's mostly his blastia, but ah well, it's common sense in his world and he hasn't quite caught on to the fact that blastia are new things aside from a single conversation.

Still, he's ready for her to get back up if she so chose to. She doesn't seem the type to lie down and take a hit like that even if she was a little flabbergasted by what he did.]

I'll say... [But she's determined not to be outdone!! Especially with him smiling so smugly like that, how can she not get back up on her feet? Which she does after a moment, closing the distance between them to spin her staff upwards at him in a jump.]

Spiral Strike! [Twice, in fact, assuming it's successful at least. It'll take them both pretty high into the air if it works.]

[That staff is what throws him off the most. While he's used to spears, staffs are totally different to him. While he's pretty decent at blocking direct blows, something like this? Well, it breaks his guard pretty easily... and that impresses him.

Does it hurt? Yes. Does it make him excited? Hell yes.

So here they are, air-bound. It's not unfamiliar territory to him, and it doesn't take him long to regain his bearings.]

Tiger Blade!

[Throwing his sword up, only to catch it and slash downward, he uses this momentum to attempt to bring them both back down to the ground with his fist.]

[This is the part where Tales fighting stops making sense (and I am so sorry for this Quality), as that incoming fist+sword does not look particularly fun for Leia, so she uses Darting Claw once more to get out of the way of his attack I swear this shit is possible it just seriously makes no sense.

ANYWAYS, with her still in the air still, she swings her staff downwards towards Yuri, sending a blast of energy with it.]

Soaring Blast!

[Fucking hell, Tales of fighting makes no sense. Both of these people defy all fucking logic in all of the fucking universe. Writing fight scenes always is a pain in the ass, but whatever... IMAGINATION!

But Yuri knows when something looks almost too painful, and that is it. So he's going to do the rare smart thing and just dodge the damn attack by rolling out of the way because he wants to live, thank you.

She is a tiny form of Judy, he's decided. That kind of scares him.]

Azure Edge!

[A blast of wind for good measure, because he needs a couple of seconds to think on this one. Impulse this time would be bad.]

[RIGHT oh god not just fighting scenes too but Tales fighting scenes none of this even makes a single lick of sense but ALAS as long as it sounds cool that's probably all that matters.

Dang though she totally thought she'd be able to get him with that! Never mind it wouldn't have just been getting him but pummeling him into the ground welp... She angles herself so that when she lands she can avoid most of the wind, raising her staff to block just in case, and looks at her opponent with a bright and impressed smile.]

Wow, you're even better at this than I thought you'd be!

What, and you thought I wouldn't be?

[His voice feigns hurt and insult, but whatever. He's gotten that reaction a lot, for better and for worse. Once more, he rests his blade against his shoulder, walking casually in her direction.]

You put up quite a fight yourself.

[But he knows a battle isn't over until either both parties are on the ground panting from exhaustion or there's a clear winner. Which is why with a spin of his sword in his hand he starts charging for her again. In an almost acrobatic aerial move, he summons what little other sorts of magic he can use]

Destruction Field!

[Regardless of whether it hits or not, he wants to send a message that he can pack of walloping as well.]

[And send a message it does! Leia guards through the attack, but even like that she can tell it would hurt if it hit completely. A lot. With him closer like this now though, she holds her staff to jab at him multiple times in rapid succession.]

Staff Rain!

[There's really no dodging something like that attack, so he blocks what he can and takes the little jabs that he can't block. Not the most pleasant feeling thing, but he can at least take that much and not flinch too badly. But no matter, what's important is she's close now. Maybe it's time to show off some of his fancier tricks.

So he counters her attack with his sword quite literally spinning in his hand.]

Shining Fang!

[She tries to block the attack as best she can, but with his sword spinning like that, there's only so many hits she can void. The rest she takes with a grimace, jumping back away from him the moment she gets the chance to.

Ugh, she does not want to get that close to him again! So instead she tries for a different approach, putting her hands on the center of the staff to spin it as she... somehow moves through (???) Yuri in something like a blast of wind RP is a writing-based hobby and I completely fail at trying to write out what Soaring Vortex looks like I am so sorry.]
