008 ✞ [VIDEO]
[It took nearly three tries after stumbling out of bed for Midii to remember the proper button-pushing procedures, and clearly even longer to realize (and subsequently not care) that her hair was still a mess. A mess she was now publicly broadcasting, completely with a stiffened yawn and weary rub at her eyes.]
[Still clinging to the 24+ hours sleep she had unexpectedly succumbed to, her voice was groggy. Her mind, unfocused. Her words, uncensored.]
I fell asleep in the park. I think. But then I woke up here. I...don't remember anything else since then.
[There had been...a little girl crying. She remembered that much. What happened to that little girl? The paranoia began to sink in, and despite herself, she visibly frowned. Suddenly nervous.]
Is this another one of those magic things that keep happening around here?
((ooc: Midii was one of the people attacked by Bakura's summons. Her memories are a bit groggy at the moment, but as time passes, she might remember more and more of the incident.))

[She looks down.] He loves another.

[Midii's face fell, understanding the pain that this must cause Eponine. In some ways, she knew what it was like. To be so fond of somebody that she knew (thought) didn't feel the same way.]
But he must at least care for you, to give you such a gift.

[She absentmindedly begins to rub the scar in the center of her hand.]

Having him as a friend is still better than not having him at all.
You can still be with him. Be by his side.

[Not as much as it could. Or should.]

Then I'm glad.
[A moment later, she has to stiffen a heavy yawn, before smiling up in apology.]
Sorry.

The shop is this way. I found it while I was out walking Riva one morning. She doesn't like the smell very much, but she likes trying new things.

Even I can't keep up with her at times. [Which was saying something, considering she was currently studying two foreign languages on top of encryption training.]

But she has two mothers and a father, so she gets a lot of attention. I mostly just take her for walks and read to her in the park.

Nobody's perfect.

The shop is just up ahead. You might see it before I do.

[she cranes her neck] What is it called?

Blue Cafe. It's written in English, but the words are small enough to sound out.

I do not know the first thing about reading English. or speaking it. My parents would never let such a thing into our house.

[She nodded her agreement]
I've been practicing a lot, and I feel like I've only just started understanding basic sentences. But one of the nice things is that a lot of letters are similar to French. You can sound out a lot of words just by looking at them.
