[It took nearly three tries after stumbling out of bed for Midii to remember the proper button-pushing procedures, and clearly even longer to realize (and subsequently not care) that her hair was still a mess. A mess she was now publicly broadcasting, completely with a stiffened yawn and weary rub at her eyes.]

[Still clinging to the 24+ hours sleep she had unexpectedly succumbed to, her voice was groggy. Her mind, unfocused. Her words, uncensored.]

I fell asleep in the park. I think. But then I woke up here. I...don't remember anything else since then.

[There had been...a little girl crying. She remembered that much. What happened to that little girl? The paranoia began to sink in, and despite herself, she visibly frowned. Suddenly nervous.]

Is this another one of those magic things that keep happening around here?




((ooc: Midii was one of the people attacked by Bakura's summons. Her memories are a bit groggy at the moment, but as time passes, she might remember more and more of the incident.))

[Damian doesn't get the usual warm smile that accompanies his presence over her monitor screen. He just gets another yawn and slight tilt of the head. How was it possible to feel so tired after sleeping for so long?]

That was nice of you.

[ He doesn't feel bad about the absence of smile - he was worried enough that her state of wakefulness is reassuring enough. ]

Thank you. I shall be there presently.

[ And he will be, only for somewhat longer than going from his suite to hers takes. He was at work. ]

[The time delay was ultimately a good thing. It gave the twelve year old a chance to wake up more. Wash her face. Brush her hair. Change her clothes.]

[Nothing fancy, of course. Her usual jeans and sweater combination, with her hair pulled back into a messy ponytail after maybe five stokes of the brush. But it had dawned on her what happened the last time she'd been in Damian's presence with a less than presentable appearance, and frankly, she wasn't in the mood for any potential lectures this time.]

[By the time he arrived, her sleepy-eyed gaze had morphed into a perpetually confused frown. Nothing about the last day and change made any sense. He said he'd brought her back to her room (which was fine; he was one of the few people who even knew where she lived)--how had she slept through that? How had she fallen asleep in such a public area in the first place?]

[So many questions. So few people to ask.]

[ Damian also brings about three flavors of tea, and some fresh food. She has been unconscious for long enough that some bodily actions might be problematic. Even toxic. So hydration and fresh good food would likely at least assist with the problem. ]

[ Far from critical, Damian's look when she opens the door, a look that he spared her over the network, is concerned. ]

How are you feeling.

[ Quiet. And not trying to push his way inside past her or anything. Just... there. ]

[Tired. Hungry. Slightly dehydrated.]

Confused.

[That too.]

I don't usually fall asleep so easily. I don't even remember being tired.

How did you find me?

I do not think you were exactly asleep.

Have you been drinking enough water? Now, after waking, I mean. I brought these.

[ He holds out the teas, and the food. ]

You were sprawled out in a park. I - sometimes keep an eye on those, to make sure that nobody is bothering children there.

[She reflexively reached for his offerings, staring blankly for a moment as both his words and implications sunk in. Water? She had water. She had food too. Not much--she had been out shopping when she'd fallen--but enough for a full meal. He hadn't known, obviously, or he wouldn't have gone so out of his way to make sure she did. She assumed.]

I just woke up.

[A lame response. But true. She's been so focused on finding out what had happened, she hadn't even realized the possibility of her body having gone without basic sustenance for so long.]

I was going to check on you after work. I - thank you, for making the announcement.

You will need to recover your body, after it's more or less starved, and... emphasize on liquids. Your kidneys and bladder will need the cycling.

[ Oh, right. The previous time when he came in here, they'd talked about lower body functions, too, hadn't they. ]

[He's curious about the 'magic things' she mentions, he hasn't been here long enough and as much as Bucky and Toro try to fill him in he's also tries to keep them from getting overwhelming by not asking many questions. But there will be time to ask about that later.]

Do remember yourself fainting? The most obvious thought is that you might have not been eating well.

[If she were more awake at the time, Midii might have considered feeling offended at the mere suggestion.]

I don't faint.

[Jim would be so confused if she had felt offended, people fainting when they don't eat is a fact. It doesn't make them vulnerable, at least no more than every other baseline human.]

Then what is it you do remember?

[Stubbornness, mostly.]

[She didn't have much in the way of strength or presence, but Midii was always proud of being able to hold her own mentally in certain situations. Fainting was something scared little girls did, and she was tired of being a scared little girl.]

I remember...going to the bakery. I had food with me. And then I heard someone crying and...

...it gets blurry after that.

Someone crying. Perhaps focus on that, if that's the last thing you remember? Did you go check who was the one crying, try to help?

I...think so?

They sounded young. Younger than me. A little boy or girl.

[Meaning her guard would have been down; Midii has a soft spot for younger kids. Boys, mostly, because they reminded her of her brothers. But any children half her age or less were more likely to be just as innocent and in need of help.]

Alright then. Did you manage to find them? See who was crying?

I don't know. I don't remember.

That's where everything gets blurry.

[Eponine says it with a slight smile, almost knowing in appearance.]

I have not heard of such a thing happening. Perhaps someone brought you to your home?

I didn't mean to. It just happened.

But you're right. Damian said he found me and brought me back here.

[she's spent the night in parks before.]

I am glad he did.

[But that doesn't mean she has to like Damian. No way, no how.]

[He may or may not have taken a few hair/saliva samples to test once it was obvious this was more than just an afternoon nap I MEAN--why would you even ask that?]

He picked me up and brought me back here. Then he came back and brought me tea and food because he was worried I hadn't eaten or drank anything since yesterday. That's the opposite of hurting me.

Good. You're right, that is the opposite. I should hate to see you harmed. I'm glad you are awake- do you need anything, p'tite?

I'm not sure yet. Part of me wants to go back to sleep. I still can't fully think straight right now.
