[Sabriel's face appears on the screen, looking as unnaturally pale as ever- and it's clear she's been crying, and has only just stopped, she can't quite keep the wavering out of her voice.]

Has anyone seen Amon? I haven't seen him since I got back from Kithika [He's a grown man. Sabriel knows this, but his continued absence makes her uncomfortable- and she knows well enough what will happen to him once he returns to his world.] And I haven't seen Javert in a while either.

Also, if anyone still has one of those weapons they found in Sinbrilee- Try putting the blade in one of the fire fountains. I think you'll find the results interesting. [It's only fair she shares what she's learned, even if it's something relatively minor.]

Finally, if there's anyone here who has no powers of their own, but would like to learn a useful skill, I'm always willing to teach people how to use Charter Magic. Given recent events, I think everyone ought to learn something that will let them defend themselves if they need it.

I want to teach all of you how to defend yourselves. I know I've taught some of you nonlethal methods- and I want you to keep practicing that- but I also want to teach you how to work with more lethal spells, and more about binding. [It's easier to remain calm when there's something to focus on, rather than thinking about the people who aren't here anymore. She never spoke to Cinna or Javert about it, but she knows Alcuin died back in his world- and Amon will die soon after he returns to his. But Sabriel knows that she needs to deal with the problems in front of her right now- teaching her students and fighting Malicant.] And I encourage you to practice what you've learned with each other. As Charter Mages, we can work more powerful magic when we cooperate and combine our abilities.

And- none of you were hurt during the incident with the fog and the bottle, were you? [Sabriel mentally adds healling magic to the list of things she wants to teach her students.]

He was my friend. I've known him for most of my time here, although we didn't always agree on things.

What's this Charter Magic you're speaking of?

It's a form of magic that's native to my world, but people from other worlds can learn it, if they don't already possess some sort of power. It draws on symbols, which are combined to produce various effects.

[The reply is late, and a little out of breath: Temeraire flew straight to Amon's apartment to check, and like her he comes back distressed and empty-handed.]

Sabriel, I cannot find him, at all, and his flat has been cleaned.

[Amon had not, but the change in Sabriel's tone is, he thinks, answer enough. Temeraire makes a low, uncertain noise in the back of his throat.]

He never said in so many words, but things sounded as if they had become very unpleasant in his world, before he arrived here.

[And for all his naïveté, he is not a stupid creature by any stretch of the imagination. Suddenly he cannot quite meet Sabriel's gaze.]

[ Hmm, this was interesting. Bakura didn't go into the bottle and so didn't get a weapon, but as there were only a handful of people who didn't travel to Kithika, that would significantly narrow down his identity. So he tries a different tact. ]

The weapon I got didn't do anything when I put it in the fountain. What did yours do?

And I did well enough, although I found myself fighting a few foreigners who'd been affected by the corruption there. Thankfully, I wasn't injured, and was able to help cleanse the dragon.

Glad to see you came out overall untouched, then. Very good. Though speaking of trials and tribulations in the bottle. You didn't-...Ehm. There were statues. In a temple courtyard of sorts? Did you happen to study any of them? They seemed magically imbued in a way I was not familiar with. A curse, perhaps.
