Video: Looking for work

Um... hello... [Apart from the lesson from the Kedan on his first day Taiki has never really used his computer. Sometimes he has watched or read posts, but never responded. It feels too much like interrupting.

He's never made one either, but he's been here a month now and he still hasn't managed to get a job. He's a bit worried that people will start getting mad at him for it] Um... I'm Taiki, I live in the Water District and um... I was told I needed to get a job and um... I didn't know who to ask...

[He's ten and his job back home was what he exists to do, so the concept of applying for work is new] Um... I'm not sure what I could do, I can fly really fast, and um... I can read and write and I will work really hard.

Metal things... [A bit more like Hourai then... He would like to see that he thought] Um... I'm in the Water District... it's nice here...

[langsyne]

Water, huh? [A nice place; he's been there more that a couple times during his length stay here.] Pretty relaxing over there. And the people are nice too.

[Speaking of people though....]

Are you living there alone right now?

[notagiraffe]

Yes everyone's very kind [He blinked and then nodded, looking sad for a moment] Yes, it's just me... [He's not used to being alone, even in Tai where Lord Gyousou insisted on giving him an entire section of the palace there were always people around and he avoided his rooms except to sleep, preferring to be with people]

[langsyne]

[There's silence for a moment in response to that. It doesn't seem very fair for a young kid to be forced to live all by himself. Must get lonely, he thinks. It's a problem that could be solved by inviting the kid over, but his place is crowded enough and he should probably at least ask Cassie first.

So he settles for a compromise.]

Well, if you ever get lonely, you're always welcome over at my place. I bet Raph would love new friends. [He grins.] Ever met a baby turtle the size of a truck before?

[notagiraffe]

[Taiki's eyes light up, both at the invitation and the mention of the baby turtle, he likes animals] One lives with you too? I met Taraja, she was with Damian [He pronounces Damian's name very carefully, making sure he gets all the sounds right]

[langsyne]

[A cheerful nod.]

Some of the time, yeah. There's three of us that share turtle-sitting duty.

[And thank god for that too, 'cause Scott thinks he might just implode on himself if he had to take on turtlesitting as a full-time job. At the mention of Damian, though, Scott's face goes thoughtful.]

You've met Damian, huh? How'd that go?

[notagiraffe]

That's good... um... that the turtle has lots of people to care for it. [He smiles softly] He was very kind... um... he took me to see the fire fountains...

[langsyne]

[Pardon Scott's eyebrows as they rise halfway up his forehead.]

Nice, huh? [Not the word he would've used, but hey, better than some of the alternatives.] What'd you think of the fountains?

[notagiraffe]

They were amazing! A... um... a bit scary though [Especially when Damian had just wandered into one]

[langsyne]

[Scott laughs.] You'll get used to 'em, just like everything else here. But it sounds like you've got some friends here already so it shouldn't be too bad, right?

[notagiraffe]

I hope not... everyone has been nice so far and even the scary things have not been too bad...

[langsyne]

[He resists the urge to say 'they get worse' and settles instead for a smile.]

Hopefully things stay like that for you then. We're all pretty good at lookin' out for each other here.

[notagiraffe]

It looks that way... it's good... that everyone tries to help...

[langsyne]

Well, you're one of us now, so you better keep this cycle going, alright?

[The teasing manner of his voice manages to completely dethrone the serious look on his face.]

I will! [Taiki on the other hand looks very serious] I want to help as many people as I can
