[The feed turns on to show Korra, smiling a deviously broad smile (those who know her probably know that smile means she’s up to something) and she holds a finger up to her lips before she whispers.]

Okay you guys. I need you to tell Mako that the network doesn’t actually bite and he can use it to talk to people.

[Then she turns around and happily exclaims:] Oh good, the tea’s ready. Thanks, Mako. See, isn’t he a gracious host? [That grin she has on is sinful.]

W-- Korra, turn that off.

[he sets the tray down pointedly, looking between her and the console, obviously caught off guard and not sure what to do]

In a minute. [Not even a minute, she fully plans to keep it on as long as possible.] Why don't you come over here and try it? [Not that she's giving him a choice since she's taking both cups of tea over to the console.]

I already told you I know how to use it. [he sits down, and focuses on her] We could've kept this conversation between us, c'mon, turn it off.

[and then he turns to the camera to give it an Intense Mako Stare (tm).]

We were talking about the network, so we should include the network. [She says it like it's the most practical, logical thing in the world.] So anyone who doesn't know, I'm Korra and this is Mako. He's been here for months but none of you probably recognize him because he never uses the network. So feel free to say hi to him! [Totally treating him like a new arrival. She's not sorry at all. Feel free to bug Korra too.]

I don't recall. If she did and I'm being an ass by forgetting, I really do apologize. So refresh my memory.

Well, do you know what bending is?

Yeah. What Korra can do with the elements. And I'm guessing you can, too?

Yeah, but I'm a firebender. Korra's the only one that can bend all four elements.

But pro-bending is played with two teams of three benders each: an earthbender, a firebender, and a waterbender.

Basically the goal is to knock the other team out, or gain the most ground.

[that is a very, very basic explanation]

That sounds exciting. [Julie sounds happy to hear about it. It is pretty cool.]

What else can you tell me about it? How good was your team? Who was on it?

My team was me, my brother, and Korra.

And we were pretty good.

[he's pretty sure the championship game would've went a lot differently if not for the cheaters that were their opponents]

Is 'pretty good' an understatement? It sounds like one.

Nah, I think we were solid.

[yes, yes it is.]

We were finalists and we got cheated out of being champs. [True fax. Not sorry for correcting him entirely on how awesome they were.]

I think you're still understating, Mako.

[Yup. Julie's reached the teasing stage of befriending Mako.]

I mean, the way I see it, you're working with your brother and I bet he's super important. Being a team and family kind of gives you better communication and coordination skills than other teams. And you have Korra. I work with her. She's pretty awesome.

Actually, Korra bullied her way on our team. She and my brother outvoted me.

So, she's still a rookie. But she's one of the best rookies out there.

[though Julie's dead on the money for his and Bolin's communication skills]

Bolin and I ageeed, it wasn't bullying. [It was, but she seems pretty happy instead of put off.]

So lets hear your side. What did you do?

Well, I came to the arena to see the Fire Ferrets' next game and their waterbender was a [Over-exaggerated pissed off Mako impression:] no good, no show.

[Shrug.] They need a waterbender, I'm a waterbender. They want to make it to the championships, I want them to make the championships. I went with my gut and told the ref the Fire Ferrets weren't forfeiting.

Best choice really.

[Julie smirks at the impression, doubting it's accuracy just a tiny bit. It had been entertaining, though.]

This doesn't sound like bullying, Mako. Sounds more like she kinda saved the day.

[She's teasing.]

Oh, Jesus. [A laugh and if Korra is watching, Julie's rolled her eyes some.] Did she, really? How'd that happen?

Our waterbender didn't show, so we were about to have to forfeit.

So, we had an opening and she took it.
