We should talk. Think I may have actually found something useful for once.

Let's keep this simple so I don't have to play with this thing much longer. Who here visited the library on the island?

[He pauses for a moment.]

[Hawke's not so oblivious to miss this though he doesn't find himself particularly bothered by it. He's not so eager to have critters climbing all over him.]

It sounds like he's been in this city just as long or longer than any of us, watching people and even making 'friends'. We could have met him a few times and never known it.

[He expects that's why Mally is so quiet in the palace. It might not even be in there right now.]

He was created on or by the Vilii, not entirely sure yet if that's a place or a people. Either way, he killed the people that made him and started his career as some dark god wanna be. Turns out though, there's a stone linked to the ritual that made him, and I'll just bet we can use that to kill him too.

[If he was pretending to be someone in the city, they would all have to be careful about who they spoke to. That would make things harder.]

Do you know where the stone is?

[Wan poured them both a cup of tea and then approached to hand Hawke one. It was still hot, but it was perfectly brewed.]

And how would we use it to kill the Great Darkness? Destroy it? Imprison him in it?

Not even the slightest clue, but someone who went the library might, maybe even our "great and mighty emperor".

[Hawke takes the tea and sniffs it. It looks like no other tea he's had before.]

I don't know about you but I'll take whatever chance we get to kill the hell out of that thing.

[Green tea, Hawke. It's safe.]

As long as killing it doesn't upset the balance of this world, then I have no problem with doing so. But if the Great Darkness is a needed part of the balance, I'd prefer to imprison it so the rest of the world doesn't suffer further imbalance.

[It looks...healthy. It can't be trusted.]

I can't think of a reason why any world would need a monster specifically created to kill people. Everyone could do without something like that.

[Carefully he takes a sip of the tea, tasting it carefully. He smacks his lips together a few times before shrugging and drinking more.]

Are you sure that's what he was created for? I've been under the impression the Great Darkness is just that, the Darkness of the World given form. In my world, there's a spirit very similar to him. The Spirit of Darkness and Chaos. He is one half of the balance, the opposite of Light and Peace. Both must exist and neither can truly be destroyed.

[Hawke shakes his head. He doesn't buy that.]

Or that's just something it wants people to believe. That thing is smart and been around for a long time. Chances are it would do anything to make sure nothing will kill it.

[His mind is already set. If he gets the chance, he's killing this thing.]

The information we got says the only reason it was created was to kill people. I'm going to trust my sources on this one.

[Wan stilled for a moment, giving that some thought before nodding along.]

If that's all it was created for, and you trust that this is true, I will trust your belief. Unless we are given evidence otherwise. But at this point, I don't think acting against the Great Darkness would be considered rushing into it. Not if it's been around as long as I've been led to believe.

This is why we find the Vilii, or at least what's left of them. There's got to be something we can learn from them. With any luck we may even find that stone.

[Right, luck, because he's had so much of that in the past.]

Do we know how to find them?

That's our next step. Someone in this city must have some kind of clue about them.

[He takes another sip of the tea. Hmm, maybe if they stirred some alcohol in there...]

We just have to start sticking our noses where they don't belong.

[You are not turning his tea into Keeliai Iced Tea.]

Are there libraries in the city? Places that might hold written histories that mention these people?

[Don't be jealous that he thought of it first.]

Hopefully, even if there's not I intend on getting some answers from Evandau or some of his pets.

[He can't be jealous. He doesn't even know what alcohol is.]

[Wan turned back around and went to sit down on the bed next to Mula (the catdeer), reaching out to scratch at her ears.]

When you do you plan to do this? I would like to help.

Not until I talk to more people about this.

[Even he knows that it's probably a good idea to come at this with some semblance of a plan.]

But when I'm ready I'll let everyone know it.

[Someone will have to introduce him to it. And film it for posterity's sake.]

Is there anything I can do to help until then?

[If only either of them knew what film was.]
