Hello there! [Toul is smiling and waving her hand at that screen, moving forward and backward as if testing the way the video adjusted to her position.] I’ve never seen the like of this machine before, but it is quite amazing. To be able to record yourself as you are doing something like this is and let others see you in person is wonderful. I’ve never even heard of such a thing even from the big cities back home.

[Then she stops, ears flicking back and forth for a moment, thoughtful.] I believe I have been brought here for some purpose. I am not certain yet what that exact purpose is, but there is always a purpose to where we come to be, isn’t there? I can’t think of a reason I would be riding the back of a large turtle otherwise. [She laughs softly, because she thinks she is far more amusing than she probably really is.] I have heard there are Reptilia here who need help and I will do my best in whatever way you may need me to.

[And then her eyes widen just a bit before she reaches out and lightly raps the knuckles of her hand to the side of her head.] Oh, yes, how silly of me not even give you my name. Apologies! I am Keymaster Toul—ah well, Apprentice Keymaster, that is. If there is something you need of me, please do not be afraid to seek me out.

It is one of the Mystic Classes. We do quite a bit, really. If you've lost your keys, need a new alarm for your home, or forgotten when you left your cat, I'm more than willing to assist.

How do keys relate to losing a pet?

[The alarms make sense; one who understands keys, understands locks, and Zel knows spells that work to lock as well as how to remove those.]

Unlocking memories is what a Keymaster does as well. [Not that she can actually do much beyond simple things like helping someone recall little things they had forgotten. Anything more advance, she wasn't trained well enough for.]

Yes, you could look at it that way. [She has to pause and think about it then.] I'm not sure exactly how the name Keymaster came about truly, but it's very important. Each class has a very important role in our world--no one more important than another--and the title reflects that.

What are the other ones?

The others? [She's surprised he's asking so many questions about her world. She had wanted to ask about his instead, but it would be quite rude to change the subject like that.]

Ah, well, there are Weaponmasters, the Elemental Mages, Shields, Bonders, Bards and Engineers.

And people can't learn other kinds of magic? Like, you couldn't learn how to do any of those things?

Of course I could, if I trained enough. The classes aren't different forms of mystic energy, just different ways of using it.

[And now it's the perfect opportunity.]

Is magic that way in your world? Are there different forms of it that people can and can't use?

Not among humans or beastmen, and probably elves. Even dragons can learn the same types of magic; they just have some unusual natural abilities as well. Some of which might be spells that they either keep to themselves or take too long for a human or beastman to master magic enough to cast them.

Beast...men? [That word makes so little sense to her.] Is that a title for animal keepers?

[shakes his head, also puzzled] No, they're another race, like humans or dragons. Well, multiple races. Humans call them 'beastmen' because they have heads that resemble animals, and fur, and tails. Except for fishmen, which are giant, intelligent fish with arms and legs. They're counted as 'beastmen' too, even if they've got less in common with other beastmen than other beastmen have with humans.

[She is even more confused now.] So humans and people who are descended from beasts are...not the same in your world? But how else do humans come about?

[puzzled] I... really don't know. Created when the world rose from the Sea of Chaos? I don't think anyone is descended from beasts. Or that suggesting that to a beastman is at all a good idea.

[Sadly, Zel's world is pre evolutionary theory, if his world is even old enough for that to work.]

Your world sounds very...different indeed. On my world, all humans evolved from animals. It is the Gift our gods gave us.

So your god changed animals into humans? Where did the animals come from?

Animals exist on our planet for thousands of years before the Daeities came. I do not know where they came from, but they lived in a desolate world before the gods healed the planet.

[She is quiet, thoughtful for a moment.] Not much is known about the time before The Wasteland.

So... something happened a long time ago. Before humans.

Yes. But as we were not in existence then, it is hard to know what came before. What of your world? What is this 'Sea of Chaos,' you mentioned?

Old bit of history. It's said that our world and others rose from the Sea of Chaos in the beginning.

Oh, I...think I understand. [Not really, but if it's an old legend, perhaps that is all there is to it.]
