(A length of cloth is resting on Alayne's knees and she is busy stitching. The sound of thread being pulled through, tightened and then piercing the cloth again can be heard by the keen of hearing.)

Dresses of a Southern make are far more difficult for me to stitch. (Her pink lips purse and she bites off a thread with her teeth.) I fear, should the weather warm, I will be incredibly uncomfortable in wool. Yet silken fabrics are notoriously difficult to piece together. They leave no room for mistakes - even slight ones.

(Sucking on one of her fingers, her brow furrows. It isn't common for her to stab her fingers. Septa Mordane would know something is amiss with her. Yet her dear Septa is long dead.)

I heard some strange noises on the street. I'm certain someone grabbed my skirt, but I didn't stay long enough to look.

(Therein lies the problem.)

Could they follow me to my room?

I trust he will keep me safe; that is why I fled back to the Hotel initially. (She gasps and laughs shakily, looking away. No one has promised her a "complimentary ass-kicking".) ...thank you, Tony, but I'd rather you didn't put yourself in danger for my sake. They likely wished to steal something off of my person or to harass me.

(It's not the first time she has been molested on the street by strangers.)

Oh, I'm not going to be in a lot of danger. No offense to the kedan, but I don't think any of them are a match for me. And I don't think any of them will be eager to tangle with Iron Man twice.

Anyway, you shouldn't have to be worrying about people bothering you like that. [Tony's expression turns more serious.] I know we're trying to make nice with the kedan, but we still need to look out for each other. The kedan should know that they can't mess with one of us without messing with all of us.

Your confidence is inspiring. (And a source of envy. If only she had a talent that she could use to protect herself.) I haven't seen your suit yet. I get the feeling it would put the knights of Westeros to shame.

(Except Tony isn't anywhere near as big as some of them.)

I have no wish to deepen the rift. As you can see, I am unhurt and safe. (She pauses and asks:) A canine companion might do me good. Are there dogs or wolves present?

[Tony grins.] Yeah, I get the feeling it would, too. [If he sounds insufferably smug, Alayne, it's because that's exactly what he is.

His (admittedly, well-earned) gloating is interrupted by her surprising question about a dog.] A dog? I... I'm actually not sure. The kedan don't really keep pets - not enough resources on the shell. I think most of the animals are the kind you eat. Gene used to have a dog, but it mostly ran around setting things on fire and yelling about entrails, and I guess it ran off a while ago.

[He thinks for a couple seconds, but he can't come up with any foreigners who have a notable fondness for animals. And asking random kedan is a risky proposition: Tony doesn't think it's unlikely that someone might try and scam her into buying the Konryuan equivalent of a big guinea pig, instead of a useful companion and guard animal.

He shrugs apologetically.] I might be able to build you a robo-dog, but that's all I've got. You might try asking Jack...? He's been here a long time and he runs the Welcome Center, so maybe he knows if there's anything like a dog in Keeliai.

All the more reason I want to see it. (Her eyes sparkle playfully, a ghost of her old self surfacing at his smug attitude.) ...setting things on fire? And yelling?

(Does Tony know what dogs generally do? Alayne gives him an odd look, blinking slowly.)

What would a...a robo-dog...be like? If it could listen to commands - (She's not sure. Robots are extremely foreign to her and if it malfunctioned...)

I will ask him the next time we speak. I can see why the baby turtles were so prized - and not only because of their nature - if pets are scarce or nonexistent.

It was a magical dog, [Tony explains.] And I guess it was kind of crazy, too. [Tony doesn't know why Gene's friend had bequeathed him a psychotic hellhound, but maybe there are some things in this multiverse he's better off not knowing.

His cocky smile returns, and he continues,] A robo-dog would be a lot easier to handle, I promise. It wouldn't be very cuddly, but I could give it a custom paint job. You can come see the armor any time you want, and I'll give you an idea of the kind of work I do.
