[CONSOLE]: VIDEO
[She wasn't paranoid.]
[...but she was interested. Also experiencing a strange sense of not-quite deja vu. It had been a while--more than a year, including time spent Dreaming--but she still remembered the days when she would have received telepathic visitors into her mind. First, Asti. Then the babies. Granted, the latest mystery message had been a text. But that just made things even stranger: no voice to tie the source back to.]
[She definitely wan't paranoid. Yet. Which was why she made the decision to go public, putting on a smile for her first Network appearance in some time. Like this was meant to be nothing more than a game.]
For the record? The person who sent me that cute little Scavenger Hunt message--
[And it had taken a long, hard period of consideration before opting for that particular phrase. On the off chance anybody else had received a similar message recently, they might see through it. On the slightly more probable chance one of the locals was listening in, they'd think this was nothing more than some Foreign custom.]
--you get points for creativity. And vocabulary.
But if I'm going to be color-hopping my way through the sectors, there better be a nice reward at the end. Maybe not diamonds, but...something to make all that effort worth it, you know?
Also, next time? Try signing it so I know who to thank personally.

[audio]
[All joking aside, she was actually serious about wanting to solve this whole thing. Especially if one of her theories was true about it involving some sort of ritual. Maybe even magical in nature.]
You know, I'm down by the Welcome Center. [Mostly because that's where she both lived and worked.] We could chat more here, if you like.
Easier than doing battle with the consoles.
[audio] > action?
action!
[Again. Work. Home. She even had a nice and cozy bedroom in the back, where the public weren't allowed access, to chill while she waited. The console she used having been installed recently, leaving her free to make public feeds without having to walk over to the nearest cafe.]
actiiiion!
is it a Foreigner thing? maybe?
nonetheless, he does realize on the way that he never got a name. hopefully, it won't be hard to track her down once he arrives - maybe asking about the dark-haired young lady will be enough?]
actiiiion!
Hey there, Professor.
[...at which time, he'll notice Zatanna chilling in a large chair by what looked like a makeshift fireplace.]

no subject
It's Zatanna.
[She motioned towards the adjacent chair.] You're welcome to sit, you know.
no subject
Good to meet you, miss Zatanna. [a bit of an odd name, but at least she's clearly human. at this point, that's as familiar as he can get with things, here.]
So, are you one of the ones who've been here for a while?
no subject
That's right. Me and Jack, both. [She nodded back towards the main area of the Welcome Center, as if that meant something.] We've been here for...close to three years now, I'd say. He arrived maybe a month after I did.
no subject
[that would be her cue to start with them. unless she's something else in mind, first.]
no subject
[...oh, wait, he was serious, wasn't he? Sigh. At least he was taking her seriously too. Which was why she leaned forward just enough to pick up the notebook and flip through a few pages.]
Okay, first of all, full disclosure here: when I said they were theories, I really meant it.
Three years, and this is the first time anything like this has ever appeared on the Network. It's not the first time we've gotten weird messages, but it is the first time "colorful poetry" and those shapes were involved.
no subject
Have any of them been a similar style, though? Suggesting a series of events? If we've all gotten shapes of our own, it leads me to believe that we need one of everyone to follow the given instructions.
no subject
Not really. The last time we got weird messages, they were...a lot less subtle, let's say.
And that could be the case, although there seem to be multiple people who got the same shape. I have the orange hexagon, for example, but so did at least two other people that I know of.
Wan suggested it could mean one symbol for each sector. Minus the Center of the city, which doesn't have anything to represent it at all.
no subject
[he's well aware she might not have an answer. but the question's there, nonetheless.]
no subject
We'd probably have to figure out exactly who got what to know for sure. It could mean that those people, specifically, had to follow those rules. Or, yeah, like you said, repeating the message just in case the last person ignored it.
Follow the path...and then wait and see, I guess. The instructions end there.
no subject
[he makes a bit of a face]
Whomever 'they' are. Any ideas?
no subject
Something to do with the Dream realm, maybe?
After the fight with Malicant, we kind of stuck around for a while. I still don't know if it would have counted as real by reality's standards, but...let's just say I was able to see people again I hadn't for a really long time.
[Her dad, for one.]
no subject
You think that your...'needs' could bring them back?
[...though that tugs at the back of his mind, a bit. what if...]
no subject
[Heck, she'd caused stranger things to happen...by accident, of course....]
no subject
But if it's just a Dream, then you'd have to wake up, eventually. Wouldn't you?
no subject
[The key word here being usually.]
no subject
'Usually'. What aren't you telling me?
[what does he need to know, here? because he feels like he's missing something]
no subject
I don't know what you mean.
[Everything thus far was the truth. Even if...maybe she could bother to elaborate a little further.]
It's like you said. People eventually wake up from their dream. Although... [An ironically warm smile tugged at her lips as she absently reached for the choker around her neck. Blue, with a silver snowflake pendant hanging from the center.] ...sometimes, even dreams can come true.
no subject
her commentary has him tilting his head]
...I'm not sure if you're being metaphorical or not.
no subject
When you've been here long enough and seen the things we've seen--['We' actually referring to the memories of friends over the years. Few who remained, but many who had since gone.]--the lines tend to blur a little.
