[The young man on screen looks to be in his early twenties, with dark hair poking out from underneath an old baseball cap. He's got kind of a nerd chic thing going. Or maybe an "I'm-a-college-kid-and-I-think-"formal"-means-putting-a-blazer-on-over-my-normal-clothes" thing. Either way, he doesn't stay silent for long. He got the whole newbie spiel already, from the welcome center and from a certain familiar face. City on the back of a giant turtle, less-than-friendly locals, weird soul jewelry... it's all pretty hard to swallow, but since his brain has so far refused to wake up and prove that this is all some sort of bizarre dream, he might as well give the consoles a try. Gauge the current level of tech around here, and maybe inquire after some pretty important information that the welcoming committee couldn't help him with.]

Uh... hi! My name is Tadashi Hamada, and I arrived pretty recently. That's probably pretty obvious, though...

[Focus, Tadashi. Stay on track. He smiles awkwardly, reaching up to tug briefly at the brim of his hat before forcing that hand back down and straightening up in his seat a little.]

I was actually wondering if there's anyone else here from San Fransokyo? You see, I'm looking for my brother. His name is Hiro. He's fourteen years old, about five feet tall, messy black hair? Usually wearing shorts and a hoodie? He was with me before, but I haven't seen him at all since I woke up here and I was wondering- [Wondering if something happened to him. Wondering if maybe his baby brother didn't make the jump between worlds with him. Worrying what that could mean and if this is all actually for real and time really does stop in his world...] Well, if anyone spots a kid that matches that description, I'd really appreciate it if you'd let me know.

[Have another smile, friends, thought a bit less awkward than before.] I guess that's all for now.

[The newbie's only confused for second or two before he realizes that trolling is afoot, and the grin in his face is definitely audible in his voice.]

I could go for something a little more dramatic if you'd like? A little flailing and hyperventilating might do the trick.

Yeah. It's kind of a bizarre magical space-warping establishment. Shouldn't be too hard to find, the kedan can direct you if you need it. Anton's cool - he runs the place. I'd talk to him about finding your brother, and someplace to stay. We used to have housing in the city proper, but now we mostly keep to the Hotel.

He seems like a pretty good kid.

Oh, I saw him! I saw him too. [But after jumping in with that, the messy-haired older teen on the screen seems to fizzle out a bit.] Well, it sounds like it's a little late to help... I couldn't tell you where he is now or anything, sorry. But he's got a big brother, huh? [He pauses.] I guess I can see it.

[Maybe the resemblance, definitely a certain kind of younger sibling's friggin' big man attitude... he thinks.]

Room Six, I believe it is. Second floor. Although...

[He pauses, considering. He's not a friend of the Hamadas, not anything to them really, but being from the same world at this point he feels he has some sort of duty to warn Tadashi. He knows Hiro is from a point in the timeline after the student showcase, knows that this reunion is going to be quite a shock for the younger brother.

Of course how to accomplish this with any amount of tact is the problem.]

When I say that he's "okay," I should qualify that he did seem a little out of sorts. Probably something to do with waking up on the back of a giant turtle, no doubt, but I thought it might be worth mentioning. I would... just take it easy on him, if I were you.

[Sokka starts out actually a little bit concerned, though he gradually becomes (shockingly) less so as he keeps talking.]

Oh yeah, the kid that wanted me to sneak him into Stark Industries? Yeah, I guess I know him. He tried the whole polar puppy eyes thing on me. Didn't exactly work on me, of course, though I did offer him to come check out the construction projects around town.

I watched him as he downed three entire cups of coffee, one right after the other. I'm sure you'll find him passed out somewhere in the Hotel if he isn't still running around like a chicken with his head cut off somewhere.

[She can't help it, she giggles. The mental image is such that almost absentmindedly, a hand drifts up to feel her own two front teeth, as if checking for a gap there.]

I wasn't really looking for it, but... I think so.

[It doesn't feel out of place with her mental image, certainly.]

He was at the Midnight Hotel. We were trying to figure out what was going on with how the coffee beans keep reappearing.

Uh... he's not always the best at being social, especially if he finds a project to work on...

[Not that Tadashi doesn't do the same thing, but things like social interaction and friends are not something Hiro's always good at. Kinda come with the kid prodigy thing, and it can be worrying. :( ]

[Once you get to know Hiro? Those adorable gap teeth are a staple. Xion will understand one day.

Tadashi looks understandably relieved, though the mention of magic caffeine distracts him a bit.]

Reappearing coffee beans?

None of that stuff about San Francisco becoming San Fransokyo is in any history book I've read, so we're even.

[he furrows his brow so much, pulling such a face.]

There'd have to be a serious media coverup for people not to know where it is. You know, the giant city next to Tokyo that creates espers and is decades more advanced scientifically than everywhere else on the damn planet?

[Either there IS a media cover up... or a case of alternate Earth history is going on here. Neither of these is enjoyable. One of them he will definitely have to consider, though.]

[Yep, gonna fish a scrap of paper out of his pocket and quickly jot those numbers down, nodding soberly at that vague warning. Points to Krei for trying to prepare Tadashi without, y'know... breaking his brain. Shame that there's no way this whole thing is ending without someone taking a hit to the noggin', but you tried, buddy.]

Can't say I blame him. [Not when Tadashi's still out of sorts himself. He's older than Hiro, more capable of dealing with sudden stress, but... yeah. That whole giant turtle thing is a bitch.]

I definitely will. Thank you, Mister Krei. [Man, that is one hella sincere smile he's flashing there.] I really appreciate it.

Just a little late, but I appreciate it anyway! [Tadashi grins, assuming that a physical resemblance is what Yosuke's talking about. Not that Hiro doesn't have the big man attitude, because he totally does.]

Looks more like our aunt than me, but I guess there's a certain amount of resemblance there. [He reaches up with one hand and pinches lightly at his own face.] He's still got some baby fat to work through, though.

[So by this time? Tadashi's gotten a good amount of messages informing him of Hiro's presence on the turtle. A lot of those messages even included semi-current locations, something he's very, very appreciative of, as well as warnings related to his baby brother's understandably out-of-sorts mental state.

But this? In a way, this kinda inspires a different sense of relief. Kinda. That... is definitely Hiro behavior. Not good behavior, but normal behavior, at least.]

He wanted to-... [Siiiigh. Why are you even surprised, Tadashi?] Ah, I'm sorry about that. He didn't actually try to sneak in anywhere, did he?

[It's been long enough since his initial posting that Tadashi's received quite a few answers to his inquiry. However, none of those answers included this particular information.]

Jeez, I keep telling him that that much caffeine isn't good for him... [Let's just not mention how hypercritical that statement is coming from a busy college undergrad.]

Hey, I told him the same thing. I mean, it's technically poisonous if you ingest enough of it, but he didn't seem to like that answer at all.

[Yes, look at how much this kid knows.]

Hey, don't worry about it. Do you know how many places I've sneaked into in my life? [He starts to count mentally, but then he lets that thought go.] Let's just say more than I probably should have. It's cool!

Don't know if he tried to sneak in or not, but I did tell him he could always ask for a job. Seems to work sometimes.

[He might be out in public, but Yosuke can't hold back a snort of laughter.] You said it, man, not me! Though, heh, you're probably entitled. [It's kind of sweet, even. Oh yeah, with his best friend back home in mind, he's convinced he recognises this type, too.]

He did seem, uh, pretty well composed for a middle school kid. Unless it works different in... [...Now that he thinks about it, that is a funny name. It's like when cartoons put "Sony" TVs in the background so that they don't get eaten alive by Sany. Still, the guy can't help that if he's serious, so Yosuke doesn't prod at it beyond looking momentarily uncertain.] - I mean, where you're from. Or is he just like that?

[Oh, he was playing back. Much appreciated. She could get behind this. The corners of her eyes crinkle in a contained grin, though she keeps her tone deliberately casual, even thoughtful.]

That'd probably work. Some screaming and railing against humanity, too -- that'd be good.

...does ground sketch art count as a "project"?

[Ugh, that smile. It's just sincere and infectious enough that Krei finds himself smiling back without entirely realizing that he's doing it. Not that he's usually averse to smiling anyway--he's a salesman.]

One more thing--I do hope there are no hard feelings from the showcase? I realize that it probably wasn't the most favorable first impression. [Thanks Callaghan.]

[It's the Tadashi effect. Just accept it. Life is so much more pleasant afterward~

Now, now, Krei, Tadashi may consider Callaghan his mentor, but he's capable of forming his own opinions thank you very much. Just because his professor really, really doesn't like you doesn't mean that Tadashi's going to blindly follow after. Anyway, his major issue with Mister Bigshot was the "accidental" almost thievery of Hiro's microbot, but since they're currently in a world where that's kinda impossible and they're all on pretty much even ground...

Yep, there's some more of that infectious smile.]

And if--

[He was about to say "and if Callaghan tries to fill your head full of horror stories about me" before remembering that they're on an unsecured connection, and there's every possibility that Callaghan might have access to this. It's equally futile trying to warn Hamada about Callaghan being a crazed supervillain for the same reason. Not only that--Robert has been here longer than either Krei or Tadashi. He has connections. People who might not take kindly to him spreading that sort of thing around.]

Just... take care of yourself, and Hiro. I'll be at the Hotel if you should need me.

[For what? He doesn't even know, but it seemed like the thing to say at the time.]

Do you think it'd be too dramatic to fall to my knees and blame the powers that be for my situation? Maybe in rain?

... Probably not. He usually doesn't even right his process down unless something's really giving him trouble.
