[The young man on screen looks to be in his early twenties, with dark hair poking out from underneath an old baseball cap. He's got kind of a nerd chic thing going. Or maybe an "I'm-a-college-kid-and-I-think-"formal"-means-putting-a-blazer-on-over-my-normal-clothes" thing. Either way, he doesn't stay silent for long. He got the whole newbie spiel already, from the welcome center and from a certain familiar face. City on the back of a giant turtle, less-than-friendly locals, weird soul jewelry... it's all pretty hard to swallow, but since his brain has so far refused to wake up and prove that this is all some sort of bizarre dream, he might as well give the consoles a try. Gauge the current level of tech around here, and maybe inquire after some pretty important information that the welcoming committee couldn't help him with.]

Uh... hi! My name is Tadashi Hamada, and I arrived pretty recently. That's probably pretty obvious, though...

[Focus, Tadashi. Stay on track. He smiles awkwardly, reaching up to tug briefly at the brim of his hat before forcing that hand back down and straightening up in his seat a little.]

I was actually wondering if there's anyone else here from San Fransokyo? You see, I'm looking for my brother. His name is Hiro. He's fourteen years old, about five feet tall, messy black hair? Usually wearing shorts and a hoodie? He was with me before, but I haven't seen him at all since I woke up here and I was wondering- [Wondering if something happened to him. Wondering if maybe his baby brother didn't make the jump between worlds with him. Worrying what that could mean and if this is all actually for real and time really does stop in his world...] Well, if anyone spots a kid that matches that description, I'd really appreciate it if you'd let me know.

[Have another smile, friends, thought a bit less awkward than before.] I guess that's all for now.

[Sokka starts out actually a little bit concerned, though he gradually becomes (shockingly) less so as he keeps talking.]

Oh yeah, the kid that wanted me to sneak him into Stark Industries? Yeah, I guess I know him. He tried the whole polar puppy eyes thing on me. Didn't exactly work on me, of course, though I did offer him to come check out the construction projects around town.

[So by this time? Tadashi's gotten a good amount of messages informing him of Hiro's presence on the turtle. A lot of those messages even included semi-current locations, something he's very, very appreciative of, as well as warnings related to his baby brother's understandably out-of-sorts mental state.

But this? In a way, this kinda inspires a different sense of relief. Kinda. That... is definitely Hiro behavior. Not good behavior, but normal behavior, at least.]

He wanted to-... [Siiiigh. Why are you even surprised, Tadashi?] Ah, I'm sorry about that. He didn't actually try to sneak in anywhere, did he?

Hey, don't worry about it. Do you know how many places I've sneaked into in my life? [He starts to count mentally, but then he lets that thought go.] Let's just say more than I probably should have. It's cool!

Don't know if he tried to sneak in or not, but I did tell him he could always ask for a job. Seems to work sometimes.

[Is that supposed to be reassuring? Because it kind of isn't. >_>]

I don't know if the idea would really occur to him. He's not actually old enough to legally have a job where we come from...

You know, of all the stupid laws on this turtle, that actually isn't one of them.

And it's probably not for lack of trying either. Do you even know the full extent of dumb laws here? No whistling on Sundays, don't touch your moccasins on Tuesdays? There's probably even a law somewhere that makes it illegal to complain about the laws today!

No one mentioned any of those... Are those actual enforced laws, or-?

[Tadashi lives in America, a country full of dumb laws from olden times that no one pays attention to anymore. Maybe the turtle is like that... or not.]

I've gotten a dozen citations from weird made-up nonsense laws here just last month. Half the trouble is remembering what laws there are; half the trouble is finding out new ones that I'm still messing up!

There must be someone here who could give us a list of them. You can't expect people to stick to the law if they don't know what the laws are.

And then commit the entire list to memory? As random as their rules are? Yeah, probably not happening any time soon.

Though for what it's worth, I was charged for three separate things the day I got here. So good luck talking your way out of that one with the cops.

Anyway, I didn't introduce myself. The name's Sokka.

[The sad part? Tadashi could and probably would manage to commit a pretty big chunk of them to memory through the sheer stubborn need to be a good noodle. No way he'd remember all of them, but he'd sure try. Nerd. If he has a run in with any sort of authority here, he'll just do what he'd do at home. Politely ask what he did wrong, accept the required punishment (assuming it's reasonable) and pray to any powers that might be listening that his little brother isn't somehow involved/responsible.

For now Tadashi just shrugs and offers up a smile.]

[That question is... surprisingly a little harder to answer than should be, but you know how it goes.]

Well... I got here last October by my reckoning, so that's... technically about eighteen months? Because an entire year passed while we we're in a dreamy little slumber, even though it felt like only a few days had passed.

[Sokka shrugs a bit and shakes his head.]

So I guess it depends if you count that little bit or not. Enough to get my feet wet around here either way.
