I wouldn't dismiss the possibility of a very special psychic. Keeliai's outside of time. Someone might be watching our lives and dictating notes.

By 'special' I mostly meant 'psychotic' and/or 'creepy'. I don't like the idea of being someone's television show.

[Which is unfortunate because she is.]

[And, not for the first time, Skulduggery finds himself glad he hasn't told Pepper he recognised her name. It's not important, for one thing, and quite frankly, it is a little creepy.

It also has some incredibly creepy connotations, which he conveniently chooses not to think about.]

I had an old friend whose name was Hopeless. Descry Hopeless. My letter says 'it's Hopeless', which is odd, considering he's been dead for over a century.

That is odd. That's also kind of a depressing name, honestly. [She pauses, thinking for a moment.] If these things are coming out of the Dreaming or whatever, is it possible they're not coming from, you know, versions of us that aren't us? Tony told me there was a different Pepper here once. And a different him, too. That means they're all kind of plugged into the Dreaming, right? Maybe that has something to do with it.
